  1. Mine didn’t come roaring back either, it was more like “whats that feeling? Oh, its hunger!” Lol I can’t remember exactly when i first felt it, but probably well into the second year? Also its not the ravenous, starving kid of hunger feeling like pre-op, its more more, “oh, im hungry…in should eat”. Mind you i do get snacky, not actually hungry per se, but just wanna eat something…though i have this under control for the most part. (As mentioned earlier i do still have days when I just don’t wanna eat at all though) Im 3.5 years out.
  2. Dinner last night, it looked much better in person! Miso glazed cod (à al Mr.) and lightly battered fried onions (à la Moi). Black cod is my fave fish btw, meaty texture like lobster, yum 🤤 176 cals, ate it all.
  3. In hear ya, i’ve been posting basically the same salad for 3 years lol
  4. I barely ate the first month. Like you it was a chore for me and and the same time i was sort of disgusted by it. My first two weeks, i was lucky if i hit 400 a WEEK…not a day, a WEEK. The second 2 weeks i was got to about 300-400 cals a day. It slowly increased as time went on. I’m 3.5 years out now and i can get in at least 1800 cals with no issue, eat a wide variety of things, and actually feel real hunger. Though truth be told there are still days here and there when the old food-aversion situation comes around and i just dont feel like eating...so I don’t. The days when im a hungry hippo balances it all out so it’s all good. You are still early on, and what is going on with you now will not last forever. Hang in there, you’ll get into a groove eventually. Good Luck! ❤️
  5. To the OP: If its attention you seek, there is nothing wrong with it if your husband is on board. It’s not cheating if hubs is down. BUT…if you have to hide it or do it against his buy-in, then it is cheating, no? Tell him what you need, if you can’t come to a consensus of how your relationship will work, go to therapy (u or both of u). If still no consensus, its likely time to make a decision. On another note, on divorces and breakups: sometimes people fight/break up because people are people and they change. One changes and the other doesn’t, or they both do, and the inevitable new dynamic between them is just too much for some couples to handle or adjust to. With WLS, there is a huge change introduced into the mix (in the patients outlook, behaviour, the environment, the lifestyle choices, activities, etc), that of course will have an impact to those close to them (who may react in a myriad of ways)… and all in such a short amount of time. Its alot for some. Good Luck! ❤️

    I’m just going to ask!

I think they told me to wait a month, but we barely made the 2 week mark.

    SO FLIPPING COLD!

Not really much to do to solve the issue in the short term, other than what you are already doing! You can move a little more to get blood flowing, which helps with the cold. I too wore ridiculous amounts of layers of clothing compared to those around me. Mr. would be shirtless and wearing shorts and i’d be in woollen socks, sweatpants, long-sleeve top, hoodie (with the hood on!) AND a blankie. My personal hell was the grocery freezer aisle in the summer. Long term though, it will likely get a little better after you are done with rapid weight loss phase. Also, you can start making it even better now by doing some weight training (if thats your bag) as having muscles can increase your core temperature. Good Luck! ❤️
  8. Hi! Short answer is you ARE doing things right if you are comfy after eating AND are losing weight (however “slow” or “fast” you may think it is). Congrats! Long answer is there is ALOT of variation on what folks can and do consume that first month. As well as rate of weight loss, some lose/gain/stay the same based on a host of factors (air/fluid retention from surgery, genetics, medical conditions, etc). With that said, i was one of those who had a case of semi-serious food aversion that first months so i barely ate. So it prolly wont help u to compare what i ate (or didn’t eat) with your intake. For what its worth, in my opinion, a 10 lbs loss in a month is awesome. Good Luck! ❤️
  9. Lunch: martini (not shown) and a salad: 482 cals, ate 1/3, then another 1/3 about an hour later. Snack: the rest of my salad plus cucumber toast and some truffle cheese: 179 cals Had other snacks throughout the day: chicharron, 1/2 of a banana muffin, pepperoni stick, walnuts, cheese. Dinner was marinated skirt steak and some avocado salad. Ended the day at 1888 calories.
  10. Breakfast! Like actual, REAL breakfast at an ACTUAL breakfast-y TIME with breakfast-y FOOD! I have always admired those smoothie/yogurt bowls people come up with on Instagram (an example of one at the very bottom of this post…NOT MINE, just one i aspire to, lol). Here was my attempt at it this morning. Obviously i need more varied ingredients, and better plating skills…🤷🏻‍♀️ Still good though, ate it all for 312 cals. MINE: NOT MINE:
  11. Oh no you didn’t! Some unbelievably ingenious person came up with this million dollar idea and i am not worthy: DARK. CHOCOLATE. COVERED. POTATO. ‘CHIPS. 😳 170 calories for this serving, ate it all in reverence. P.S. i also have yet another salad calling my name in the fridge, which i’ll get to when I get to 😇
  12. well this just looks delicious.
  13. The salad i made yesterday that i added some avocado to: 410 calories (remember people, if u want to up calories “healthily “, chow down on some avocados…calories made up almost 1/2 of this thing!) Ate about 1/3 at first attempt…rest in the fridge for later.
  14. This is what i did. Insurance (provincial insurance, as im in canada) paid for the panniculectumy and i paid for the difference to upgrade to an abdominoplaty (tummy tuck), which was basically the inclusion of muscle tightening and some lipo on the flanks, and, in my case, a bit of a mons lift i sweet-talked my surgeon into lol) If I remember correctly, i had to pay $2K for the “upgrade”. But as mentioned im in Canada and this amount is in Canadian dollars so not sure how this would translate to your locale. But as a verifiable PRO-plastics person, if you have the time and means to do it, DO IT! Its a game changer! PS…if u are curious, go to the albums section in my profile you can see a progress pic collage that shows my before and after plastics (and the whole WLS process really). The bottom row is post-plastics.
  15. Just made a salad, but now don’t feel like eating it, so am gonna have a peice of my NEW favourite Lindt Lindor Truffle flavour instead: PISTACHIO! (It used to be Hazelnut 😉) 78 calories of deliciousness. P.S. will attempt to eat the salad later unless someone gets to it first !
  16. @blackcatsandbaddecisions hugs to u and ur fam ❤️
  17. In don’t really go out of my way to meet any protein goals anymore, but its Actually its quite easy to get it in for me… my share of that particular packed salad had 29g of protein (mostly from the chicken and cheese). That particular day i ended up with 93g of protein by bedtime (i had meatballs for dinner that night) I did a quick look into MFP to see where i stood on protein for the last little while and it showed: 2 weeks ago: 530g (Avg 75g/day) 3 weeks ago: 836g (Avg 119g/day) 4 weeks ago: 489g (Avg 69g/day) *no complete weekly info this week or last cuz i was out of town and wasn’t logging.
  18. I have on occasion…but i find i have more success McGyer-ing pre-made sauces in a jar then adding my own blend of extra seasonings.
  19. Yassss! In didn’t overcook it this time!!! Sesame-crusted pan-seared tuna with my leftover salad from yesterday. Sooooo good: 442 calories for the plate. Ate a little more than half, and told Mr. that NO, he CANNOT have my leftovers cuz im totally eating the rest of it when my stomach allows, dammit!
  20. Yes! I will…just gotta get around to doing it

    Carbonated drinks

If I remember correctly, i wasn’t really told to stay away from carbonated drinks more so than to stay away sugary/high calorie drinks (pop, beer, juice, etc). with that said, i drink carbonated/sparking water almost every day (am 3.5 yrs post op) i *think* i had my first sparkling water (i.e., perrier) 2 or 3 months postop? I can’t remember….
  22. Actually its been over TWO years since i had my plastics trifecta (time flies!) my arm scars have faded alot, but are still visble (and wide…boo ) they are light pink and white, but flat so this is good, especially cuz these scars see the light of day the most. my tummy tuck scar is thin and med/dark brownish and still a teeny bit raised in some areas, they dont look raised, but it can be felt when i touch it. Some parts of the line have completely healed and look like normal skin. I joke that my tum scar looks like morse code. My belly button is dark and looks dirty, like i dont clean it or something lol. I often put concealer on it if i know its going to be showing. now my breast lift scars have progressed the least…they are dark reddish brown and noticeably raised at the ends and right under the boobs. This area only had 1 round of steroid shots so I guess it makes sense. No one sees the underboob scars except me and Mr. and neither of us really care. But the ends (near the side flanks) annoy me cuz they can be seen when i wear a halter or bikini top….but i plan to get tattoos to camouflage them, just a matter or time. Oh and these scars are STILL effing itchy! Geez. Sorry this was so long.…and not about food. 😂

    Advice!

I didn’t have any “food funerals” in the sense that i didn’t eat any more than i normally ate. But what i “normally” ate was probably equivalent to one big huge ongoing food funeral, lol. Nor did i go out of my way to specifically eat “special” items. I changed my eating habits on the first day of my 2 week pre-op diet, and went forward from there, that’s it.

    Bypass but with keto

Exactly. Given the protein goals post wls, to achieve the correct ratio of fat required to be Keto-proper is challenging to do while staying under a certain calorie number AND with reduced stomach size. Handy calculator here for info purposes: https://www.ruled.me/keto-calculator/ I think alot of folks are likely doing something more along the lines of Atkins or Modified Atkins. I did ultra-low carb, with min protein and max calories goals during weight loss phase, and let the fat fall where it may. After goal, it took about 6 mnths to break this habit, and now at 3.5 years out, i basically eat whatever i feel like so long as i stay at or below 1800-2000 cals a day most days (i’m 5’2”). Its worth noting, however, that “whatever i feel like” looks alot different than what it did pre-wls. To the OP: do what works for you until it doesn’t, then do something else. Good Luck! ❤️
