    Plastic Surgery Cost

Ooooooh i’d like to see that (i wish i had a pic of my removed bits...)
  2. Late lunch: 4 Beef & Pork meatballs w/ mushroom gravy over shiratake noodles: 225 calories for whole thing. UNBELIEVABLY filling. Ate about 1/2...will take another crack at it in a couple hours.
  3. Pineapple: Some cut up for snack, some for the freezer for later, and the core and rinds to simmer with ginger root for some pineapple tea (yum!) Used 1/3 cup of the pineapple bits with coconut milk, stevia and ice in the blender for a smoothie. Had I not shared it with the kid, I would have added some rum into it. The entire glass: 76 calories.

    OOTD

😳 Translation: you could lift one of us in each arm plus some. Methinks this sight would be a nice photoshop mini-project... @GreenTealael ??? 😂😂😂😂😂
  5. Omg i have to say this was probably THE most tender home-cooked turkey I have EVER had. This will def be the cooking method of choice for future turkey breasts (too bad Instant pots aren't big enough for entire turkeys!)...and it cooked in a fraction of regular time!
  6. If you are talking “should”-ability, depends on your plan...these differ widely among doctors. If you are talking “could”-ability, well that just depends on individual tolerance. Saying that, I tolerate deep fried stuff just fine, and come eating times, will eat it if it looks delicious and worth it (or If its deliciousness is verified by the Kid beforehand, lol) .Though I only started eating deep fried stuff after weight loss phase..:as I basically just ate salad and grilled chicken during that time.

“Oh the places we’ll go...” (when pandemic ends: florida, philly, etc...) 😉 That beach pic makes me sad for my soon-to-be-snowy future.

Loving that buckle adornment on the sandal! Also your new black shirt is a keeper...it reminds me if the faux leather one u posted previously that I covet (i saw one similar in my clearance-shopping-free-for-all-adventures but the sleeves were too long. Boo.)
  9. Just googled it. Those suckers are BIG alright!!!

    The Maintenance Thread

First, given your current stressy situation, probably some calm and relaxation? Like you alluded to, the stress is likely the culprit, so getting a handle on that will likely put everything back into equilibrium. Other than that, maybe more nuts, cheese and avocados? ❤️

    The Maintenance Thread

Congrats on the exciting new changes! OMG, wouldn't it be the coolest if you moved to T.O. and we met?!? You could teach me how to refinish my sideboard and I can...um...i'm not sure, but I'll think of something! 😂

Here On Out A Win, Win

+1 More anecdotal evidence: I looked positively skeletal (esp my face and neck) when I finished weight loss phase. Months later, I looked much more filled in (despite the fact that I even weighed 10+ lbs less later on). I suspect it was the introduction of some carbs back into my diet....
  13. Of course we won't mind! Anyone can play! This thread is like porn for us WLS folks, lol. Is that like 1/2 a sausage?
  14. I'd go to Olive Garden anytime just for the salad, LOL. (I'm the one at the table that will hoard all the peppers from the bowl...and leave the olives...and wait like a full minute to say "when" when the server is grating Parmesan on it...)

    Confused with Doubt

Re: Tasting menus: I have the opposite view on this, lol. I love that I can have one bite (or two) of a 6, 7, 8+ course tasting menu instead of having to commit to just one dish with several bites. Plus if I don't like (or don't want) one of the courses, there is always the next one to try! I used to leave these types of restaurants overly full because I would eat everything on every plate they put in front of me. OR, i would leave still hungry because the plates were soooooo small. Post-wls, I am completely happy to just to have a sample bite of every course (unless its rice/bread/pasta) and give the rest to Mr. or whomever, who are generally eager to eat what I haven't, lol. Now I'm off to Google Attica and Vue De Monde to drool over their menus.... Edited to Add: BOO. neither of these places have their menus online these days. Eff you Covid.

    Confused with Doubt

Hi! And welcome to the forums! 1. I enjoy high-end and experimental foodand serious dining as a pastime. It is one of my only social outlets which will majorly change post-op. It doesn’t have to. WLS has not changed my social habits. I still go out to restaurants/bars/parties (well i did until pandemic struck..); my eating habits however did change: I eat much, much, less. And I tend to only eat/sample stuff that is “worth it”, or “worth a try”. Instead of eating an entire appetizer/meal/dessert, I’d just have a fraction of it (though i have been known to order multiple things off the menu and just end up taking it home...sometimes the ordering is more fun than the eating). Sooo...i can still be a foodie, but more a sampling foodie vs a gluttonous one. Tasting menus are my absolute fave (and my dining partners love it too cuz they get to eat what I don’t, lol) m 2. I have never been overweight until 7 years ago and am now 70lbs overweight. Is this a foolish way to go? Could I just bit the bullet and do this myself or am I too far gone? This you need to decide for yourself. But really, its never too late until you are dead, right? I was relatively normal sized until about 30, when I started gaining weight steadily and ended up being 120 lbs overweight over the next 15 years. Had my surgery 2 years ago and have been normal sized for a while now. Wasn’t too late for me...and I’m pushing 50, yikes! If you have the means to do so, what have u got to lose? 3. I am addicted to sugar. Does this surgery really help that? No, I don’t think the surgery will help with that if its a true addiction. You may need to address that separately/in conjunction. But like one of the posters above alluded to, if you just really, really like it, your tastes *may* change...but there is no guarantee for that (I still love me some dessert..but only after I lost the weight) Good Luck!
  17. Snacktime! Pita chips (cut up a package of Lebanese style pitas, then air fried them), with assorted dips. I ate 6 chips (equivalent to 1/4 of one pita plus approximately 1 tbsp each of three of the dips: 125 calories I don’t normally eat bread products (except for cake!), but when I do, it’s almost always in some kind of cracker or chip form...

    OOTD

Ok, ok, this will be the last of the clothes shopping finds for OOTD for a while, i promise! Enough is enough already as i’ve been clogging this thread a little too much lately (and spending too much time charging stuff on the credit card). Anyhoo, picked up this super cute romper, despite the fact I won’t be even able to wear it until next summer AND i’m not even sure i’d be comfortable wearing it in public...it’s awfully short. May be will save it for when on vacation (it that ever happens...eff u Covid).

  20. Yep me too. I had the annoying hip and lower back pain for the first few months post surgery. It hurt when I sat/laid down/stood/whenever. I read (and was told) it was because my bones/musculature had long ago adapted to carry the large amount of weight I had, and during rapid weight loss phase, the body was not quite as quick to adjust...hence the pain. Heat application and exercise were my friends. If I recall correctly, the pain went away around 4-5 months post-op (though your mileage will vary depending on how much weight was lost and how long you were at that higher weight). P.S. on the flip side of things, my knees, upper back and foot pain went away in the same period!
  21. Hiya fellow Canadian! 🇨🇦 My two cents: Unless you have a history/tendency of GERD, then either surgery will work for you (if you have GERD, it is often suggested NOT to get the sleeve as there is a high likelihood that it will worsen) You may read it around here, but when it comes down to it, its not the type of surgery that leads to success, its the person and their actions (barring any complications, of course). With that said, I chose sleeve, because, like you (and others) I did not want to change my "plumbing" too much. This was just a mental/personal thing, and not based on anything scientific. However, I also wanted to keep my pyloric valve intact so that I could theoretically continue to use NSAIDS..but jokes on me, after surgery I no longer needed them. I started off with a BMI of 43, got to BMI 23 in about seven months, and now have been comfortably sitting at BMI 21 for well over a year (I will be 2 years post op of at the end of this month). Get your surgeons opinion, and go with what you feel most comfortable with. Whatever surgery you decide on, so long as you stick to plan, you will lose the weight. Good Luck! ❤️

Let's see 'em! (please) Yeah, I stopped wearing properly fitting underwear about a year ago. They either wedge up my bum or sag like diapers. Le Sigh.
  23. Oh, and bring a pillow to hug on the ride home...helps to hold over your tum when you go over bumps!
  24. Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians out there! 🇨🇦 🦃 Our spread for this evening: Instant Pot turkey breast (then finished in the oven) w/ gravy; cranberry stuffing, mini smashed potatoes with sour cream, and buttered carrots. My plate: Turkey w/ gravy, 3 potatoes w/ sour cream, carrots: 303 calories. Ate pretty much all of it except 1 potato and 1/2 the carrots (Mr. ate what little leftovers I had, so no after pic).
  25. +1 for the chapstick i also brought a bottle of biotin spray for the unbelievably sore/dry throat that i woke up with after the surgery. (everything else I brought was left untouched in my overnight bag...well except my phone)
