  1. Not usually, but sometimes. And never to the degree of exhaustion from dumping.
  2. When i was about 2 months out I had a couple sips of a soju-sake (sugary alcoholic drink) thinking it was just a couple sips and it was xmas, so what’s the harm? Anyhoo, about 10 mins later my heart started racing, and i started to feel tired. A few mins after that i got nauseated and had to poop (not the explosive, didnt make it to washroom kind, but urgent and loose nonetheless). Then i was exhausted and had to go to sleep. Figured it was dumping. About a month later i had 2-3 tablespoons of a VERY sugary, creamy fruit salad. This time it was like death. I had “material “ coming out BOTH ends, lol. Mr literally picked me up off the bathroom floor and carried up the stairs to put me in bed and i slept it off for a few hours. KNEW it was dumping. Sugar does not affect me as badly/quickly now (am 3 years out). But i still have to watch it. I can lessen the effects if i eat small amounts, ensure that i don’t eat excess sugar on am empty stomach, and try not to mix dairy and excess sugar at the same time. Case in point: yesterday i didn’t want to eat dinner (i made stir fry noodles for the fam and I don’t really eat noodles). I did end up eating 3 sour key candies later while watching tv (yeah i know that was dumb). Anyhoo, i got the heart racing, the onset of exhaustion and a mild death feeling and ended up going to bed super early. No poop or barf issues, but still unpleasant. P.S. Im a sleeve.
  3. Green apple, carrots, cucumbers, cheddar, pepperette and roasted red pepper cream cheese: 348 calories, Mr and I ate it all while watching a pvr’d episode of Home Economics. I’m guessing I ate bout 1/3 or less? Hard to say. I logged the entire thing anyway.
  4. Me and my doc count from the start of my 2 wk pre-op liquid diet. I was 235 two wks before surgery. Am 3+ years out today and weighed 117.5 this morning. At 5’2”, normal BMI for me would be ~135bs. So math says I am at 118% excess weight lost as of today. But as @catwoman7 indicated above, probably best to disregard the oft-stated 60% excess weight loss prediction. Its just an average and real life individual results vary GREATLY. Good Luck! ❤️
  5. BBQ Pork on a stick. Ate 1/2, Mr ate the other half: 111 cals for what made it into my tummy.
  6. Met up with some old school high school friends (who hadn’t seen me throughout my obese period in my 30s and 40s) and they said i still look the same and haven’t changed all these 30+ years. 💪🏼 Ha! Little do they know.:.😜 Also…was fascinated the other day when I discovered that I could get up from sitting cross legged on the floor to a standing position without even using my arms to get up 😳

    Fat removal

Do you mean liposuction? I had it years ago when i was “just overweight” and little bit again 2 years ago when I had plastics after reaching WLS goal. Here is an explanation of the process Mayo Clinic will have a better explanation than I ever would: https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/liposuction/about/pac-20384586 From a practical perspective, the procedure is more for pockets of fat, vs. overall weight loss. It removes fat, but does not firm up skin. If you gain weight, the remaining fat cells in your body will just get bigger, so its not a permanent solution in that sense. Case in point: i still managed to make myself morbidly obese years after i had the procedure. And yep the areas i had it done still got huge. But if you have stubborn pockets of fat that don’t reduce despite weight loss in other parts of your body, its quite effective. Its usually employed during plastics procedures to get that sculpted look. Good Luck! ❤️
  8. My go-to’s are vodka or gin sodas with lots of lime, espresso martinis (espresso vodka & kahlua…kahlua has a good bit of sugar though), dry red wine or vodka caesars (canadian version of a bloody mary…a little high in carbs though, and super high in sodium).

Do you still do 6 meals a day?

I’m one of those that DIDN’T do 6 meals a day during weight loss phase (or after). I was a grazer (still am) as i just couldn’t eat alot at one sitting. I would fix myself something and eat it throughout the day (often over multiple days). I was also not (never was, still not) a breakfast eater. I normally have my first food of the day at noon. As time goes by, you will figure out what works for you, until it doesn’t anymore and then you’ll have to figure out a new MO. Good Luck! ❤️
  10. So did I, and i turned out just fine. I too was often lightheaded the first little bit, and went through a period of food aversion. From month 3 to 7, weight loss sowed down to roughly 10lbs a month (i was eating more, as well as getting smaller, reducing my need for calories) Lost another 10+ lbs after goal and been sitting there more or less ever since. Im 3 yrs out. I assume you have shared your lack of energy and other concerns with your doc and nut? And that your labs have come back with uneventful results? Unless your team is worried, probably no need for you to either. Good Luck! ❤️

Can you show me your food log?

…and for comparison’s sake (and because looking at my historical food logs is one of my fave pastimes, lol) here is what my food logs looked like for 7 consecutive days at my 3 month post op mark:

Can you show me your food log?

I’m 3 years out. Been maintaining below goal weight since reaching goal at 7 months post op. I’m 5’2”, 118.2 lbs this morning. TBH, I sorta hesitated posting this, but in the interest of full disclosure, here are my food logs for the last 7 days. DISCLAIMER: I do not recommend this type of diet for those that do not have the same metabolism as I do. Also, I don’t normally eat like this all the time! I’m just in the middle of a crap food period, which I have on occasion 😂

    Scar camouflage tattoos

Im almost 2 yrs out from plastics (1 yr, 11 mnths to be exact). I had 2 rounds of steroid shots at around the 1 yr mark on my arms and tummy…flattened then out considerably and lightened them somewhat (I didn’t do my underboob, which i wish i did….). I do notice my scars are still lightening up SLOWLY as time passes so its al good. I knew i was a bad scar-healer going in so it was expected. Still glad i did it though!
  14. Salad! Painstakingly mise-en-placed this baby then settled in to watch the latest Bond movie. Ate the 5 peices pork belly (40g) and a forkful of the crab salad and I was DONE. Pork continues to be a super-stomach-filler for me. Which is a good thing because I love roasted pork belly. AND a bad thing cuz I love roasted pork belly 😂 Had I eaten the whole thing (which i most certainly did not…even though i really wanted to!) it would have been 589 calories. Will tackle the rest later.
  15. Yeah, i love me some desserts too. I think I started wanting them for reals again around 2 yrs post op. I can still be satisfied with just a couple bites so thats good…plus my tendency to dump keeps me sorta in check. I’m a big proponent of keeping an eye on calories…so long as total daily calories stays at or below maintenance levels, then the desserts are all good so long as one’s labs are also all good (but that’s just me…this strategy may not work for all). If limited bites wont satisfy you or lead u down a slippery slope, you can try (1) full abstinence, - if u can - so you can get the sugar out of ur system and cravings will dull a bit, or (2) delayed gratification: when the craving comes, commit to waiting 1 hr before eating. If u still want it, go ahead. But u may find after an hour you may not want it anymore. YMMV. Btw, Miss u, sophie! As well as the others who where regulars on here a year or 2 ago. I guess its just the way it is as we get further out…
  16. This was officially the first time I had cereal/granola since surgery 3 yrs ago. 187 calories for the bowl shown. it was actually kinda too sweet for me, but I haven’t eaten all day and I was pretty hungry. Ate enough to get rid of the “hungries”…am way behind on my grocery shopping these days so this is the best I could do. It was either this or cookies or chips!
  17. I used to eat rice multiple times a day myself pre-op. It was surprising how much I DIDN’T miss it the first two years. Around the 2 year mark, I had my first rice in the form of a maki roll. Turns out It’s quite filling for me and I could eat only 1, maaaaybe 2 pieces at a time. Still don’t eat rice like I did pre-op…and if I do, it’s only on the rare occasion I decide to have maki. Same goes for pasta and potatoes.
  18. 3 years out. I *thought* I had broken up with bread, but we got back together. 😆
  19. Oh that wasn’t my first drinking with a post-wls bod. im 3 years out now and drink quite regularly (bring on the concerned comments, I’m ready!) my fIrst attempt at alcohol was 3-4 weeks post. I had maybe two sips of red wine and it slightly burned a little and I swear I could feel it travel down my intestines. With so little drank, it had no effect on me. second attempt was closer to 2 months post had a few sips of a sugary soju drink and I had a several hour long dumping episode. Not pretty. I probably had 5 or so PARTIAL drinks my ENTIRE weight loss phase. It got me tipsy quickly even with small amounts of less than 1/3 a drink, and I could tell I wouldn’t be able to drive….but I also sobered up really quickly. fast forward to now and i can drink maybe 2 drinks in succession (like in under an hour) and be pretty toasted…if I nurse the drinks over a period of time I can keep from getting too drunk. And I still sober up really quick. oh and I mostly stay away from sugary mixers if I can help it…
  20. So I got a semi-funny one: Last weekend me and Mr were out at a bar and upon coming back from the bathroom, he introduced me to some new people he met at his “trophy wife”. The strong, independent woman in me is officially offended, but the slightly inebriated me was all giggly schoolgirl. 😂😂😂 Granted, he was pretty drunk himself so…😂
  21. Honestly i wish I took a Before and After of my Va-jay-jay. Sigh. Opportunity missed!
  22. *raises hand* I cancelled. TWICE. The first time, a few weeks after they set a surgery date, the second time just after I did all my redo labs. I did end up getting the surgery done the at the third attempt which was almost 2 years for my original date of that initial referral. I don’t quite remember what exactly led me to back out those first two times other than I guess I just wasn’t ready. When I finally bit the bullet and went though with it, I sorta wished I didn’t change my mind as I felt I could’ve felt awesome-er sooner. I’m 3 years out now and and completely happy/satisfied with the surgery and the results. Hands down best choice I made regarding my health, weight, mental well-being, confidence, relationships with others, etc, etc, I could go on and on…. Would I have had the same success if I went through with it the first (or second) time? When I wasn’t in a comfortable head space? Who knows. You are ready when YOU say you are ready. Good Luck! ❤️
  23. I created a blog entry with the same content below here, but I feel like no one ever reads BP blogs, so am posting in the forums for good measure. Sorry for the dupes! Also sorry this is so long! ---------------------- It's been 3 years, y’all. I’m a 5’2” female and was 235 lbs & 45 yrs old at the start of the 2 wk liquid diet. Didn’t lose any weight prior. I was on high cholesterol and blood pressure meds, diagnosed with fatty liver, pre-diabetic, peed every 20-30 mins, and snored like a freight train (so said Mr.) Day of sleeve surgery: 223.2 lbs No recovery issues, but I became dumper on sugar (still am). I got off my meds, eliminated liver and diabetic diagnoses within a month. I can hold my pee like a superhero (including not having to go once during a 9 hr flight pre-covid!), and I sleep so silently that Mr. admitted to checking on me during the night in the beginning to check if I was even alive. I ate VERY little during weight loss phase compared to most, but it worked for ME…I didn’t suffer any medical/nutritional issues nor any angst throughout. I tracked everything I ate/drank, weighed myself every morning and took my measurements every Wednesday (I STILL track and weigh daily - its just habit now -, but no longer take my measurements regularly) Reached goal of 127 lbs 7 months after surgery. I had zero stalls. I had a tummy tuck, arm lift and breast lift at 14 months post op. Lowest weight: 109 lbs (this was a month or so after plastics, but quickly gained back to 115-ish) I’ve basically been 115-ish +/- 5 lbs since a couple months into maintenance. Weight this morning: 116.0 lbs even. Happy place is below 120 and/or that my clothes still fit, LOL. These days I exercise semi-regularly, running minimum 5km 2-3 times a week supplemented with the occasional 20-30 min strength training sessions at home (I continue to hate strength training exercises but consider it a necessary evil), and various other for-fun cardio activities. Part of me wanted to get back to higher exercise levels so I can get the “fitter” look I had back then, but I long ago reconciled myself with the fact that I don’t want it THAT badly. Maybe someday I may change my mind, but I’m cool with it for now. I average 1800-2000 cals a day. I drink alcohol and carbonated water on the regular, use straws, chew gum, drink coffee, and eat popcorn, fried foods and carbs. I love desserts. At 3 years out, my restriction is still in effect and could probably eat about 1-1.5 cups of food in volume at one sitting before I need to tap out: some things I can eat more of (salads) than others (dense protein & fluffy bread). I will barf if I eat too much or too fast. I have energy for days, and am more than satisfied with how I look and feel. Life is good. Had my 3 year follow up last week and I continue to be the picture of health, and my surgeon asked again if I wanted to be on a poster. Ummmm, no thanks. Regrets? ABSOLUTELY ZERO. Well, except maybe that I didn’t get a v-shaped tummy tuck incision vs the straight line one that I got. Just means that I can’t wear higher cut bikini bottoms without my scar showing (see the last pic in the collage below). But I mean, really, I’m just nit-picking at this point. This forum has been a constant in my life for the past 3 years, and I’ve made some great connections and some actual REAL friends. Its really nice to engage with others who know what the eff you are talking about, even if its just about food porn and clothes sometimes, lol. Hugs and Congrats to those who made it to the other side with me, and Hugs and Good Luck to those on their way.

  25. LIke @Jaelzion, im a grazer. Its what i've got to do as I am limited as to what i can eat at one sitting...both during weight loss phase AND in maintenance (but more so in maintenance as a need to keep calories up) I'm 3 years post op (and been maintaining my current weight consistently for almost 2.5 years) and this way of eating hasn't (yet) resulted in any unintended weight gain. For ME it doesn't seem to matter how often or what I'm eating...just total calories...so it doesn't matter if eat 2000 cals in 3 meals or if its spread out in 15 small snacks throughout the the day....end result is still the same.
