  1. about to settle into the couch with Mr. to watch a movie. he has a bowl of dill pickle chips (which i hate, lol) for his movie snacks, and here is mine: cashews, dates and cheese: 308 calories planning on eating it all.
  2. i've always been curious about face lift tape! is the tape not easily seen by others? does it stay on all day?
  3. yep, i felt like i had some seriously deep laugh lines and i tried out filler to address it. while yes, it definitely lessened their appearance, and in the lower section by my mouth it totally disappeared, i just didn't like the look of it. it didnt look natural to me. i mean, im 50 yrs old, i should have some lines...personally, i think i looked like i was a walking instagram filter, lol. also *i* felt it made me look chubbier...whether that was true or not...its important to note here that no one else thought so, if they even noticed. most everyone besides my bffs and my daughter just thought i was taking care of my skin. even my husband didn't/doesn't notice. so now i just stick to cheek fillers (i have lovely looking cheekbones now), which does have a small side affect on my laugh lines. the filler pushes out the skin which lifts up my lower face a teeny bit and stretches out the laugh lines, which lessens the appearance. it's subtle and more natural looking imo than filler directly into that area. you didn't ask, but i'll speak to the undereye and chin filler i had that i also wasnt a fan of. undereye filler: tried it to adress my sunken undereyes. yes, it got rid if the sunken look, but combined with cheek filler i thought again, that i looked chubbier in the face and had a rounded cheek look instead of the angular look i preferred. so now i just use a good concealer and live with it. chin filler: my tech suggested i try on my chin to adress my semi-turkey neck and to get a more defined jaw. and yep, it did help with both the loose skin on my neck under the chin and give me a nice profile, but i felt like my chin looked too big for my face. i was just probably used to my normal chin though. and again, no one even noticed. anyway, didn't do it again after that.
  4. everyone experiences recovery differently so you'll only know when u know. i seem to be one of the unlucky ones who had a rough time of it. BUT it was self-imposed as i didn't listen to my doc about taking it easy. LISTEN TO UR DOC!! But truth be told even though it was rough, i could probably have done it all on my own...with effort and ALOT of self-pity. The most difficult recovery to work around was the arm lift because u use ur arms the most...reaching was def challenging. so like catwoman said above, if you plan it out beforehand to keep everything you need low and easy access it can be done. for the tummy tuck standing up straight and getting up from a seated or laying position was kinda painful...but again nothing that would incapacitate you. i had no issues doing stuff due to the breast lift. unless you count me splitting my stitches open because i tried to go for a run. but that was easily avoidable...DONT RUN. in short, in my opinion it can be done. uncomfortably yes, but it can be done alone. BUT..if you could have someone either stay with you (or do regular drop ins) for at least a week, it would be so much easier on you...physically and mentally. which is good for recovery. i was a sobbing mess for a good month...i was glad i had my fam around to take care of me. but please don't let this scare you...most if not all if those i know who had PS had uneventful recoveries. i was just a dumbass who tried to do more than i should and paid for it. ...and despite it all i still have zero regrets.

So popcorn is NOT my friend....

me and popcorn are BFFs. i have been known to eat an entire bag of microwave popcorn over a couple hours. many times. i had it for the first time after around 7-8 months post op (in maintenance) and had no issues with it. i don't think i had any issues with any food really, just the amounts of it. i mean i could/can have sugar, just not alot. though i do notice that i became MORE lactose intolerant after surgery. but again, i can still have dairy, just need to reduce the amounts (or remember to take my lactose pill...which i almost always forget for some reason 🤷🏻‍♀️) its all trial and error, and its very individual. p.s. im 4+ years out
  6. breast lift, arm lift and tummy tuck for me. had them all done in one shot about 7 months after goal (roughly 14 months after wls). i would have done it sooner but my chosen ps surgeon was booked up till then! i am completely happy with the results. recovery was a b*itch for me, but i have zero regrets. i've also had: - micro-needling RF on my face and neck (cant really see an significant improvement though and did not continue) - botox on my forehead and jaw/massater muscle (def see improvement on my wrinkles and jaw size!) i do this every 6 months or so on my forehead and every year on my jaw) - filler on my cheeks (love it!), every 6-7 months - i also had filler once on each of: my laugh lines, chin and undereyes, but i didn't like the look of it so didn't repeat after it wore off. - finally had lip blushing (tattooing a tint to my lips) and SMP (scalp micro pigmentation) which is hundreds of tiny tattoo dots on my scalp to give the illusion of fuller hair. yes, i'm vain. don't judge me!! 😂 sometime down the road i'd like a butt lift or something and a neck or face lift. but i still have some PTSD from my last ps recovery so im not in a rush lol. if you have the desire, time, resources, and inclination, then go for it i say. you only live once. may as well feel fab while you're here.

    Eating slow

i am also a slow eater, regardless what setting I am in. I've conditioned myself i guess to eat slowly because if i eat to fast my fullness will kick in unexpectedly and i would be at best uncomfortable, at worst pain. so i try to avoid that as much as possible. the times i do eat "fast" (which is probably regular pace for "regular" people), is when I am particularly hungry, and yep i almost always pay for it. now in terms of snacking, i am probably one of those people who basically snack all day. I don't really have set meals, i kinda just pick at "meals" over several hours, or just a whole bunch of mini (micro?)-meals, cuz i do get hungry since don't really eat much in one sitting. At the end of the day though, i am still more or less at the calorie level needed to maintain my weight right now, so its working for ME. is your snacking causing you to eat more calories over all?
  8. avocado toast: 211 calories. ate it all less a couple bites Mr. took when I wasn't looking.

What do you eat in a day 3+ years out?

same as above: after weight loss phase, i don't really have a typical day of eating...it varies wildly from day to day. i do still track my calorie intake, but more so just out of habit. i generally average about 1800-2000 calories a day. some days less some days more. i do moderate exercise, and a 5'2" female. also managed to stay below goal weight this entire time with how and what i eat so im def grateful for that. oh, and i'm a little over 4 years out. what i ate today: - french bread with butter - cranberry granola - kimchi dumplings - general tso tofu - french bread with strawberry jam - grilled shrimp - garlic bread with cheese - sour cream & onion chips - almonds - espresso martinis (2) (i don't normally eat this much bread, but i made a couple loaves this morning so...) (also, im a grazer so i ate all this here and there throughout the day)
  10. ...another thing i would suggest is to weigh and measure yourself often (if u can handle it...some can't). you mentioned a couple times in your post that you were surprised at your weight at certain points in your life. by keeping an eye on it, you may be less shocked and even may be able to avoid it altogether by taking whatever measures you decide on. further, if you combine regular weigh ins/body measurement noting with food tracking (and even track activity level, mood, sleep, etc) you may be able to collect some useful data to help troubleshoot your situation....but again, only if its your cup of tea. to lots of folks this level of involvement is not ideal. i can only say that my own penchant of detailed tracking has helped me identify many things specific to me. Good luck! ❤️
  11. bread fresh from the oven. yummm, ate it all with about 1tsp of butter slathered on it: 108 calories, ate it all.

How long to reach goal weight?

started at 235 (5'2" female) lost 100% of "excess weight" (baseline calculated as 135 ideal weight by my surgeon) by 6 months got to MY revised goal weight of by 7 months. lost a bit more after that, gained some back, and nowadays hover around 118-120. i'm 4 years out. in terms of weight loss slowing down: not counting the first 2 months where i saw higher losses, i was pretty consistent during weight loss phase with a loss of about 10 lbs a month until goal. after that it slowed alot down, but i was purposely trying to. YMMV
  13. haha not me. i lost a grand total of 400g (<1 lb) after plastics. BUT the visual difference was quite dramatic (for me, at least).
  14. i chose 120lbs as it was the mid-point for the "normal" BMI weight range for my height (5'2"). no real rhyme nor reason why i decided this way, other than i had no other ideas, ha also, i figured it was doable since i was that weight in my twenties. its worth noting here my surgeon said that he would consider my weight loss a success if i reached 175lbs (or was it 165?, i can't remember) by the time i got to 127, i decided to stop weight loss as i felt i was looking too thin. kept losing weight anyway, got down to 109, then settled into 115-ish for 2 or so years, but for almost the past year ive been consistently closer to 120 (am 4 years post op today). p.s. despite weighing less today than what i did when i decided to stop weight loss, in my opinion, i think i look better now (less gaunt and frail looking).
  15. salad! 302 calories for the bowl.
  16. "lunch" leftover korean short ribs from the fams dinner last night, 3 grape tomatoes and soft boiled egg with furikake (japanese seasoning). 188 calories for the plate. achieved "satisfaction" much earlier than anticipated but will def eat the rest later if someone doesn't get to it first.
  17. speaking of sitting... being able to keep the legs closed while seated without crossing ones legs (i.e., knees together and keeping the "gap" closed) with zero effort is pretty awesome too 💪🏼😂
  18. adorable! but...what do you mean by "it would be great to share Covid"???? lol
  19. omg now i spy an equally cute boxer in the background! too much cuteness. i know im going off on a tangent here from this thread, but here's one of my cuties...could be a long lost brother of yours!!
  20. i think it depends more on the person than the surgery. i had sleeve a little over 4 yrs ago and these days i can get in about 1 cup of food in volume at one sitting (volume matters more to my stomach than weight does)...more if its salad, less if its dense meat or fluffy bread. mind you, just because i can eat 1 cup at a sitting, doesn't mean i do. i prefer to stop eating well before i get full cuz i hate the feeling of being stuffed. further, i graze/have several mini-meals so while i may not eat alot at once, i do end up eating enough for my needs by the time the day is over. At six months post i was probably 1/2 - 1 cup capacity per sitting. which looks about the amount of what you ate in in your scrambled eggs(?) picture. P.S. is that a cutie patootie black kitty sitting on your remote??
  21. i looked up your profile that stated u r 4'10". I have a good friend who i've known since high school who is your height and "normal" weight for her height, and all her life had issues buying clothes. she wears a good amount of children's clothing, but luckily these past couple decades they have adult-looking childrens clothes (at a premium though unfortunately). if she does happen to find some adult size cute stuff width-wise (in like 00, she always has to shorten them. shoes are another problem for her, she has teeny tiny feet!! i don't know if u are a fan on online shopping for clothes, but she also has quite alot of success finding cute stuff from asia, who's sizing runs much, much lower than north American stuff.
  22. slice of sesame loaf and some lebneh (kinda like a thicker greek yogurt seasoned with za'atar and olive oil) we got at the farmers market yesterday. Ate 1/2 the bread and all the lebneh (soo good): 184 calories for what i ate. The pics below also show a couple tbsps of lemon curd (that i had no intention of eating) that the Kid asked me to put on the plate so she could have it with my the bread that i would inevitably have leftovers of (she knows me so well).
