Food Before and After Photos
ms.sss replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
scrolling thru my pics and forgot a i took pic of last night's dinner. BFF invited a bunch us over to critique her 7 hr long home smoked beef ribs (A++ btw). ate all the meat off one bone (and i mean ALL, i was two fisting that sucker to clean it off completely!); a bite of the garlic bread (too hard for my liking); and about 3/4 of my side roquefort and pear salad (BFF is a chef supreme). and all the red wine in my glass before eating. MFP says 649 calories for everything shown, but i really don't think the beef rib was worth 330 cals. but whatevs. its worth noting the meal another friend of mine is also captured in the background. as you can see its very similar to my portions...only diff is she has a couple tbsp of baked beans as well. she ate all if hers plus a brownie for dessert. she is one of those never-overweight, naturally slim people who doesn't particularly watch WHAT she eats, just doesn't eat much (compared to others) cuz she just doesn't eat much....but she will eat ANYTHING, in smaller amounts. no one ever comments/commented on how little she eats, vs the ridiculous amounts of questions and words i would get in the immediate months post wls. but now, as its been quite a while now since i've been eating just like her, and no one even bats an eyelash anymore. thank goodness! -

seeing your meal often reminds me how i really should be making better food choices these days. i feel like my daily salads from yesteryear have become a thing of the past. which is weird because i love salads. i blame laziness. im gonna aim to fix myself a nice fresh tasting salad tonite! -

ok, so i felt for something else (despite the fact that i still had leftover quesadillas), so i made another attempt at the butter tarts. this one is 1/4 of a regular one (not a maple one like the one i tried to eat the other day) so i figured i wouldn't find it too sweet?!? WRONG. took a nibble if this one (vs a lick like the other time) and i felt a pavlovian shudder in my chest. Mr. ended up eating it. why do i keep trying? because they are delicious and SOMETIMES, they don't immediately turn me off. sigh. this 1/4 butter tart would've been about 100 cals, but im logging 33 cals only for the nibble taste. -

pretty hungry this AM so whipped up a "breakfast cheese quesadilla" with a side of a bit of greek yogurt for dipping. I usually have sour cream for quesadilla dipping, but u know what? greek yogurt does the same (if not better!) job 401 calories for it all. -
Gastric Sleeve 6/15/23 and now lactose intolerant
ms.sss replied to JenniferLilly36549's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had a mild case of lactose intolerance prior to wls. i was able to eat ice cream for instance, but not drink a glass of milk. since surgery (4.5+ years ago), i seem to have gotten more sensitive to dairy, where i now have to have a lactose pill to enjoy ice cream or creamy soups with no issues. cheese, however seems to still be ok. yay! -

when pantry is stocked with candy snacks, you will inevitably eat the candy snacks. my afternoon snack: 1/4 a maple butter tart, 2 sour keys and 1/2 cup cashews. 332 calories for whats shown. ate all the nuts and gummy candies, but literally had a LICK of the butter tart to check if it was too sweet and yep, it was (i mean, its a butter tart! what else would it be but too sweet?! but i always hope it won't be). no one around to hand it over to, so i just tossed it. so sans partial butter tart, calories updated to 231 cals for what i ate. -

yep, i find that the burger patties i make at home are much more calories than the ones i get at fast food restaurants! well, at least based on said restaurant's posted nutritional info. Granted, my burger patties are probably 4-5 times the size of fast food places. also the restaurants could be lying!!! -
Still Undecided.....

is easy (and normal!) to have swirly thoughts. but really, you'll know if you have issues when u know. and when you do, you can deal with it then. easy to say, yes, i know. but take it from the multitude from the other side, alot of the worries you are having now are more likely at worst, temporary, and and best, unfounded. Good Luck! ❤️ -
Getting plastics tomorrow!

yay! you got it done!!! the first couple months were on the rough side for me...but i was a dumbass and started exercising way too early. take it easy and don't push yourself! can't wait to see ur results...just in time for bikini season!!! ❤️ -
simple fix: (1) shorten your microwave time (2) soak a paper towel with water and completely drape/cover the intended food to be reheated, and voila! moist food

i backed out of scheduled surgeries TWICE. so i get it. third time around, i finally went through with it. soooooooo glad i did. honestly, my ONLY regret about wls is the fact that i backed out those first 2 times. you are ready when YOU say you are ready. Good Luck! ❤️ -
How long is a protein supplement needed
ms.sss replied to LindsayT's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
month 1-2 post op: aimed for 2 protein shakes a day (rarely made it, esp in month 1) months 3-7: 1 shake a day months 7+: none i probably had a diff experience than u cuz i actually LIKED drinking my protein shakes (dutch chocolate low-carb ISOPURE w/ water,2 tsps benefibre, 1 tsp decaf instant coffee crystals, and LOTS of ice. #yum) note that even when i was on them i still didn't reach my protein goals 100% of the time. even now, at 4.5+ yrs post op, there are still days that i don't. -

went to dinner, and naturally i wanted to order everything. i always put alot (too much?) thought into what i will order due to valuable and limited stomach real estate. i couldn't decide on my painstakingly reduced shortlist of items so Mr. suggested he won't order anything and that i can just order what i can't decide between and he'll eat what i don't. 😳 i don't understand how we didn't think of this ordering method sooner. So i present to you: bone marrow (pic shows it already some eaten), roasted corn & avocado salad, slow-cooked short ribs, and tres leches cake (not shown). Mr. ate like 90% of it, but i got to taste it all!! (didn't bother logging these in MFP) -

What sort of "good problems" you had after WLS
ms.sss replied to omrhsn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
hmm. that seems like more trouble (and expense) than im willing to dole out. BUT...maybe (maybe!), on a non-lazy day, i can try my hand at some macgyvering one of my old bras myself and see if its worth it! -

The Greater Fool brings clarity once again. Yes, the company far outweighed the menu, and really, that's all that mattered. ❤️ -

strawberries and ketchup chips. ya, i know, kinda weird. i was in a rush out the door and i was hungry. 188 calories. ate it all. Lesson for the day: keep healthier options around for a quick grab, lest you lunch becomes strawberries and ketchup chips. 😜 -
love, love, LOVE these shoes! Very great-gatsby-esque! ...also...how did u manage to forget you had these beauties in your closet?!? ...also, also, in the first pic, i notice a horizontal part coming at a right angle from the heel...what is that? can i see a pic from the other side?

omg, over 4 hours. mind you, it was actually kinda fun cuz my stylist was a chatterbox - which i don't normally like, but she was hilarious so i made an exception.

well this thread got hijacked/derailed...sorry @omrhsn. also sorry that anyone felt singled out, thats a sucky feeling. a further sorry that the intent and execution of this thread by most folks has obviously rubbed some in a really bad way. thats a sucky feeling too. looks like we got a agreement to disagree so lets move on, shall we? ....did i mention that i have this ongoing problem about finding a nice underwire bra that actually fits? i have regular sized boobs for my frame, but a small-ish torso circumference. i often end up with a band that rides up in the back even on smallest hook, OR my boobs swish around in a too-big cup. OR the get squished out and overflow up top and on the sides in a too-small cup. Fun Times. i often go boob-commando. ..,oh and i went to a buffet again last night (don't ask..starts with my wacko BFF showing up at my place unannounced and ends with AYCE sushi). i still stand by my dislike of buffets. i paid $47.99 CDN (plus tax!) to eat 4 peices of so-so tuna sashimi, 1/3 an over-riced Unagi handroll, and 1 oily sweet potato tempura slice. So yeah, its a problem/issue for me to justify spending over $50 on something not even that great, that would cost $15-20 at a much, much tastier restaurant. -
From the album: ms.sss OOTDs
been spending a ridiculous amount of time out on my porch these days cuz (1) the weather has been gorgeous, and (2) Mr. recently assembled some seriously comfortable and hard-to-get-out-of adriondack chairs for me. so i often have nothing much to do out here but stare at my thighs. sooo...im sharing the view. Ha! -
i did this too. i set the timer on my watch to make me wait between bites. and yes, it took me FOREVER. i was known to sit with my sad, room-temp bowl of food for 1.5 to two hours. it was interesting. after a couple months i was able to do it without the timer. BUT i do still have the rare occasion when i still eat too fast (and im 4.5+ years out). its hard to be mindful 100% of the time. but i do my best.

So now, my loose skin is bothering me :(
ms.sss replied to maintenanceman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
no, i don't think it would look silly! esp since your arms are probably the most exposed in regular clothes...esp in the summer. everything else could be covered up without looking "out of season". i LoVe my arm lift, despite my hideous scar (i scar terribly, but i knew that going in), which can really only be seen when i lift my arms in the air, swaying-like-i-just-don't-care....it was the reason that i actually for the first time in probably 20 yrs that i felt UN-self-conscious about my arms (scar and all). i basically live in tank tops now. i even sport them regularly in the winter 😂 On the flip side, i have read many accounts of people being perfectly happy with thier loose-er arm skin, cuz it beats being obese any day. Good Luck! ❤️
