  1. i used straws...just like @Arabesque, i found it easier to take sips in the early months. i still use straws whenever they are provided, though when im given one of those paper straws, i chuck em (or give them back). i hate those things...they turn to mush in in like 5 mins.
  2. lol, i have them stored in freezer, fridge & counter all at same time, and move them about as needed. we go through butter like water (esp when im in a baking spree). i buy them in bulk at costco!
  3. speaking of butter... BP Pals: Question of the Day: Butter: Fridge or Counter/Pantry??
  4. my past couple fridges have had multiple drawers/enclosed compartments in them, so we basically have a drawer for everything lol. But yes, in my last two-drawer fridge, it was for produce...cuz they had humidity controls @Arabesque: i used to keep my refrigerated meds in my butter compartment too! It shared the space with Mr.'s cologne. now its just his cologne in there, lol
  5. i generally eat my avocados commando as i usually eat them with other more heavily seasoned food items. but if/when i do add stuff to it, yes, its usually salt, pepper, cayenne and a slash of lemon juice. 😉 however this heat wave we are having up here has ripened my remaining stash of avo much sooner than expected, so i made some avocado "ice cream" with them before they got over-ripe. avocados, full-fat coconut milk, sweetner and vanilla extract. haven't had any yet but am pretty excited to try 'em out!
  6. I’ve got kids (teenagers and adults now, but still)…my relationship with them became EXPONENTIALLY better after I lost the weight: I am happier, less cranky, can participate in all their interests, less tired, more patient. Plus I’ll likely live longer now to spend more time with them. but I do get the fear of surgery. When I woke up in the recovery room after surgery, the first thought in my head was: “YEEEESSSS! I’m alive!!!!” It took me 3 tries to finally get sleeved…I backed out of two scheduled surgery dates cuz I was apprehensive. Third time was the charm. Looking back, I wish I just went through with it the first time. you are ready when you’re ready. Only you will know when. Good Luck! ❤️
  7. As you found out, the programs endorsed by different surgeons vary greatly. The programs are guidelines, they will not work for everyone. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all M.O. Def speak to your nutritionist, though in the end, whatever he/she advises you to do may still not work for YOU. Best course of action is trial and error on your part (keeping in mind any advice your NUT gives you). Now is the time to get to know your body and it's responses to different stimuli. Then go from there. Further, what works for you today may not work for you tomorrow. Its an ongoing learning process. Good Luck! ❤️ Oh, and yeah, i hit "overload" many times during weight loss phase. Honestly, i still do sometimes, and i'm 4.5+ years out.
  8. good suggestion. I can't modify my original post to request this info, so i'll look up each person's profile and input what it says the type of surgery they had. Not everyone fills this in, so we'll do with what info we have. Also, for those with revisions, only their latest surgery will be noted as it will start to get hairy if i have to cross-reference exactly WHEN they had thier revision...
  9. i've had fillers: cheeks: 3-4 times (love it!) naso-labial: 2 times (second time i looked too puffy so didn't want to do that again) chin, under-eye: once each, didn't like the look. last time i did fillers (cheeks) was last october, and it's still very pleasing to me. i also do botox regularly, every 3-4 months, on my forehead & between my eyebrows. ...and i have botox on my masseter (jaw) muscles every 9-12 months. ...oh, and i tried botox on my neck once, but didn't see any significant improvement so didn't do it again. ----- Also tried 3 rounds of micro-needling on my neck, but again, deemed it not worth it so stopped. ---- If i wasn't such a historically BAD scar-er, i'd get a facelift today, but alas, I am. 😞

    Salads

i was given the full go ahead for anything and everything (except alcohol) at 1 month post op. i didn't have any salads nor veggies at 1m post despite the all-clear cuz of food aversion issues...but that's another story. i think, if i remember correctly, i probably had my first go at raw veggies around 3 months (?) post-op and had zero issues.
  11. Thanks! And no, i'll include whatever info i can get, so yeah add more info as you get it and i'll update as we go along. Ideally, i'd like to get a sample size of at least 100 subjects, so it may take a while. But so far we've already got 20 in three days, so keep em coming people! Thanks everyone (for participating AND giving me something to do with my time! 😂)

    Getting plastics tomorrow!

i had swelling up until maybe 6-7 (maybe 8??) months post plastics. i don't think anybody noticed but me though i don't remember if Chivers told me how long to wear the binder! (seems like ages ago). But i did wear it (or a faja) basically 24/7 for well over 6 months, only because i really liked wearing it, lol! i still wore it pretty regularly almost every day for several hours a day for another 6-12 months after that. it was weird, i felt like i was "spilling out" if i didn't have anything tight over my surgery sites 🤷🏻‍♀️ ...not that i actually was, it just felt that way and i didn't like the sensation. hence the long-term wearing. sometimes i still strap it on in the morning if i wake up with an achy back from sleeping wrong. PRO tip: before i got my faja, i wore TWO binders cuz wearing only one was difficult to pull tight enough evenly over both my waist and my hips....so i cinched one over my hips/lower abdomen, which resulted in a not-as-snug fit at my waist, and then a second one over the first to target just the waist. bonus is that wearing 2 stops them from riding up. also doubles as a weight belt when working out. also makes your waist look tiny when wearing it! 😂 How are u doing, BTW? are u pleased with ur results so far????
  13. yes, age at time of surgery! and yes, want to know how much weight lost (if any) in the 6 months prior to surgery Thanks!
  14. about a month or so ago a made a humungous batch of (tomato-based) meat sauce from a giant lump of ground beef i got on sale from Costco. I made spaghetti that day and froze multiple ziplocs of the sauce for another day. i also assembled a couple lasagnas and froze immediately. fast forward 2-ish months and i baked one of those lasagnas for 2 hours from frozen, and voilà! Dinner for the fam. I think i left it a little too long without the aluminum foil to brown the top layer of cheese, hence the over-done top corner...oopsies! anyway, served myself about a 1.5 cup volume portion and ate half. i make awesome lasagna, btw 😂 first pic: lasagna right out of oven, second pic, my dinner: 465 cals for the bowl (are 1/2-ish, as said above. lasagna is vert filling!)
  15. thanks! do you know what your weight was at 1 Month post-op?
  16. on a food posting spree! Pastel de Nata (Portuguese egg custard tart). I didn't particularly like the pastry of this particular one so i just ate the middle/insides! couldn't find an MFP entry for "crustless egg tart", lol so i just used plain old "egg custard" to add to my food log. 98 calories???

    Disappointed

honestly, weight loss is really more about the person vs the type of surgery. you as an individual will likely lose the same amount of weight no matter which wls you choose. do the best that you can and you will get where your effort will take you ❤️ for what it's worth, i had the sleeve and lost everything that i wanted to. and i believe i would've got to the same place eventually if i had bypass or ds or whatever**. **Edited to add: except maybe the lapband... P.S. hope all goes well with you from here in out ❤️
  18. last night's dinner: Sashimi!!!! had 1 piece of each type except for the scallop and salmon cuz the Kid got to those before i did, lol. In total i had 6 pieces, estimated at probably 250 cals. Also, i ate all the Ikura (aka salmon roe/red caviar) off of the Kid's rice bowl cuz she says that eating Ikura feels like she's got "exploding fish-oil Pop Rocks" in her mouth! 😂😂😂😂😂 (she cracks me up) approx 3 tbsp of it for 120 cals. also had an extremely overpriced Shiso Margarita that was more straight-up sake-tasting than anything else 🤷🏻‍♀️ oh, and 1 slice of beef tataki. In all i figure all cals for dinner added up to about 575 calories for the night.
  19. avocados and greek yogurt. 333 cals for the bowl, shared it with Mr., ate all the yogurt a little more than 1/2 the avocados.
  20. not this time...had to toss the cucumber in my fridge cuz it was all "gelatinous" 🤢
  21. speaking of leftovers... Mr. brought home a doggy bag of a souvlaki meal for me, but i really only wanted the pita. so i cut up what he brought home, sprinkled some olive oil and spices on it and air-fried it to crunchy. ate it with some homemade tzatziki (greek yogurt, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and salt and pepper) ate it all. p.s. i logged it as naan on MFP cuz it was alot thicker than a standard pita! 101 calories for it all.
  22. ok, so i'm going the spilt the difference between your starting weight and your 3 month weight to determine your 1 month weight, cuz putting a zero will kinda skew the results.... EDIT...actually, now that i think of it, i think i'll leave your 1 month weight loss at zero and determine the +/- standard deviation error bars later after i arrive at a total sample number....
