    October 2018 Sleevers

So did mine. My PCP was was so surprised that he ordered another round of blood tests to re-check. Hopefully it was a mistake of some kind because I don't want to go back to taking meds

What do your tattoos look like now?

I was 19 when I got mine. Its a daisy with white petals and a yellow middle...it has no leaves because I couldn't afford the cost of adding a third colour at the time, LOL. What is yours of?

What do your tattoos look like now?

I have a small tattoo on my hip/upper butt, and it looks the same as it did pre-op, probably because the area of skin where its located didn't get saggy from the weight loss, and its so small (about the size of my thumb). I don't have any before pictures unfortunately, so an after pic would be pretty useless, lol. P,S. I am mulling over the idea of getting tattoos to camouflage any plastic surgery scars I may get in the future....which actually is something you may also want to keep in mind if you are considering plastics: your tattoos will likely be more affected by that than by weight loss...

May Day #23 Learn Something New: Today I learned that my love for salad greens may actually really be a love for salad dressing. I forgot to pack the vinaigrette I made specifically for lunch today so I had to eat my salad naked, and it wasn't nearly as yum. 18 Push-ups: Done. +18 sit-ups (skipped the squats today - my poor flat butt will pay the price) B-Side: I'm partial to Dogs who Impatiently wait to watch Star Wars.

May Day # 22 Get dressed up: I've actually been getting "dressed up" every workday for about a month now. I normally work from home and live in jeans and yoga pants, so going to client site forces me clean up a little weekday mornings, LOL. It's all good though, cuz now I have an excuse to wear heels. 17 pushups: Done. + 17 squats + 17 situps

May Day #19 (Sunday) Take a relaxing bath or shower: That's easy...I take a relaxing shower everyday. To the point that I think our water bill suffers. 15 pushups: Done. + 15 squats + 15 situps. Also, Mr. & I went for a 15km bike ride that morning/afternoon, he wanted to do 20km, but I was all, "No, it has to be 15 to match the 15 theme" LOL. Later, we had a cooking dinner date with some friends, which was really cool. We went to a cooking studio set up with a HUGE professional kitchen, and the instructors led us all through preparing/cooking a 4-course meal that we got to eat afterwards and served drinks. I didn't eat much of the finished products, but I really enjoyed the cooking/plating aspect of it, and of course the company. After we all went to a bar across the street for more drinks and watch the end of Game 3 between the Raptors and Bucks (that was a crazy game!) Finally, to top this day/night off, we went to our friends' home to watch the series finale of Game of Thrones that they recorded (I have mixed feelings about the episode, but that is for another forum, lol) May Day #20 (Monday) Finish my to-do list: Made a conscious decision to do nothing today (see below) No pushups/Rest: It was a stat holiday for us Canadians on Monday so a rest day seems fitting. Other than to the in-laws for lunch then chillax-ed at home for the rest of the day. B-side: Is there a point in the day/week/month when you are truly hungrier? If I had to say, I'm hungriest before my first meal of the day, and once I get that in, then it's all good. May Day #21 (Today) Take up journaling: Um, no. 16 pushups: Was late getting up this morning so didn't do my pushups for the day yet. Today is the inaugural afternoon yoga class at my client office so I'll get them done then. It's gonna be weird seeing my clients in athletic wear busting poses...

I have a "would you rather' question

I am almost 7 months out, and can tolerate pretty much everything, i think. The first time I had a serious sugar food (a couple bites of a dessert of some kind, I don't remember) I had a bad experience so I basically steer away from sugar. I don't miss it. I haven't had any bread/pasta/rice/root veggies since surgery, so I'm not sure if I can tolerate those, but I suspect I can just fine. My restriction is pretty much still in full effect. I have learned how much food I can eat before I start to feel uncomfortable, and stop before I get there. I have also learned which foods are my slider foods, and which ones keep me fuller longer. I weigh myself every day and I have learned/know that if I exercise, get a good nights sleep, and drink my water the weight seems to comes off at a faster rate. So to your question, which would I rather? I'm good with the way things are, as I've figured out how to work it for me. I'm not sure if I would have learned the same lessons if things weren't the way they are, but maybe I would have learned different lessons to get me to the same end goal. At least I hope I would have.

    Sweets

Other than a couple bites of some dessert* (I forget what it was) over Christmas, I have had no sweets (or chips/candy/chocolate/junk food/cake/etc..) since before my 2 week liquid pre-op diet. *It sorta helped that the Christmas dessert make me sick - I suspect it was my first (and only, so far) foray into the world of dumping - 10-15 mins after eating those couple bites, I was nauseous for over an hour and spent an almost equal amount of time in the bathroom 😢. It was an unpleasant enough experience for me to avoid sugar ever since.

    Weight-loss funnies

Hahahahahhaa...another one I have to try!
  14. I try to get in at least one hour of some type of exercise every day. Mostly this consists of my daily minimum 5km walk around my neighbourhood. I may go to zumba or hot yoga (but haven't gone in about a month due to a new work contract). I hate strength training (and it shows! My butt is non-existant!), so I do maybe 30-45 minutes of this per week only. I guess I also do a handful of push ups (and some situps and squats) cuz I participate in the May challenge hosted by @GreenTealael on this forum. But that's mostly for fun for this month and not really part of my normal routine.
  15. At the beginning of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet in October 2018, I was 235 lbs. My surgeon suggested that reaching 160 lbs within a year would be a success. I got to 160 lbs in 4 months (Feb 2019). For a personal goal, I chose 120 lbs, which is in the middle of the "normal" BMI range for my height. I was in the 120's until I was about 30 yrs old, so I figure it was not impossible. I'm almost 7 months post-op and I'm about 10 lbs to my personal goal. I figure at my current rate of loss, I should reach this by the end of next month. Then comes maintenance which will be another lifestyle change altogether...yikes.
  16. The programs in my neck of the woods will not do surgery unless one has been smoke free for a minimum of 6 months...

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

May Day #16 Listen to a podcast: I'll listened to Comedy Central on the drive home from work that afternoon. I don't listen to it very often, but when I do I find myself laughing out loud sometimes. 13 Push-ups: Done/Did. Plus 13 squats. Didn't do the sit-ups cuz I didn't want to mess up my hair that morning. LOL. B-side: Non-weight-related major plans or Goals: For Mr. & I to retire before we turn 50. May Day #17 Clean out my closet: I did this already a couple weeks back and I have managed to keep it nice and tidy since (it's easy because there aren't much clothes in there anymore!) 14 Push-ups: Done/Did. Just pushups that morning, was feeling lazy. Made up for it by going for a 45 minute walk during lunchtime. B-side: Host the next challenge: I enjoy participating (thanks GREEN) but am not down to host. May Day #18 Make physical contact: I physically contacted Mr. this morning in a very special way 😉 15 Push-ups: Done. Mr. and the Kid heard me grunting behind the couch and thought it was funny. To show me up, Mr got the Kid to sit on his back while he proceeded to do 15 pushups...he only got to 9. HA! B-side: Salon no question. Why do my own when someone can do it for me while I get my back massaged and watch TV?!!?
  18. I'm not complaining, but I know it is going to sound that I am.  But here goes:

I used to be discouraged going shopping because I knew that more often than not, all the nicer clothes I really wanted to wear would not come in my size.

So now I lost the weight, and wouldn't you effing know it, I'm in the same position as before again, but on the opposite end!

Winners is one of my fave stores, because every once in a while you'll score.  I went to one across the street from the office at lunchtime today.  And every single item I tried on was too big.  We are talking Smalls and Extra-Smalls.  I had to buy a child size hoodie at Roots the other day and I thought it was pretty funny.  Not so funny anymore.

Its easier to find clothing if you fit into the mid-range sizes. Its funny that plus size clothing and small and XS are a bit more difficult to find. Vanity sizing makes me crazy. Size depends on the designer.

  19. I'm going to take a crack at this one too! Will likely sub the flour with almond flour, sub the panko with some crushed pork rinds and sub the honey with a mixture of liquid stevia & xanthan gum....

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

May Day #15 Read a book: No time for book reading for the next couple months, my reading time is generally delegated to screen-related reading...these days its researching potential vacation destinations for next trips. 12 pushups: Done, plus 12 squats + 12 sit-ups (I'm on a roll!) So apparently one of the guys at my client site is a yoga instructor and has been persuaded (read: strong-armed) to hold some yoga sessions in the afternoons a couple days a week in the lounge starting next week. This is good news for me, given that I have been MIA from my regular classes since starting up here! I guess now I need to invest in some nicer yoga gear to show up in at the office, lol.

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

May Day #14 12 pushups: Done, plus 12 squats + 12 sit-ups Cook from scratch: Well, I do this everyday. Here is what I made for the fam last night: Oven-roasted broccoli with grilled chicken, roasted garlic slices, and shaved parmesan. Served with homemade hummus (à la Mr.) and crackers (...from a box 😉) ...and this is what I ate. Leftover sushi from lunch: I all of it except the fatty tuna (which the Kid ate) and one of the mackerel roes (which Mr. ate)

    Laxative "transfer addiction"?

You can test it out...try stopping the MOM for a month and see where you are at mentally...?
  24. Pre-surgery i drank (cold) water all the time. After surgery it just didn't do it for me, so I played around with the temperature and found that I could drink just as much water as before if it was HOT. Now, almost 7 months later, I like it ice cold again, even more so when I add sliced cucumbers to my water bottle, which makes me drink even more. Your tastes will change, keep trying different things often.

    Knee pain after surgery..

I had knee pain, ankle/foot pain and back pain. I noticed it all getting better after about a month to a month and a half post op (around the 40 lbs loss mark). Based on that alone, I assume all my aches and pains were weight related. Now (I'm almost 7 months out) all of the pains I had are completely gone, and has been for a while, actually.
