May Day #16 Listen to a podcast: I'll listened to Comedy Central on the drive home from work that afternoon. I don't listen to it very often, but when I do I find myself laughing out loud sometimes. 13 Push-ups: Done/Did. Plus 13 squats. Didn't do the sit-ups cuz I didn't want to mess up my hair that morning. LOL. B-side: Non-weight-related major plans or Goals: For Mr. & I to retire before we turn 50. May Day #17 Clean out my closet: I did this already a couple weeks back and I have managed to keep it nice and tidy since (it's easy because there aren't much clothes in there anymore!) 14 Push-ups: Done/Did. Just pushups that morning, was feeling lazy. Made up for it by going for a 45 minute walk during lunchtime. B-side: Host the next challenge: I enjoy participating (thanks GREEN) but am not down to host. May Day #18 Make physical contact: I physically contacted Mr. this morning in a very special way 😉 15 Push-ups: Done. Mr. and the Kid heard me grunting behind the couch and thought it was funny. To show me up, Mr got the Kid to sit on his back while he proceeded to do 15 pushups...he only got to 9. HA! B-side: Salon no question. Why do my own when someone can do it for me while I get my back massaged and watch TV?!!?

I'm not complaining, but I know it is going to sound that I am. But here goes:
I used to be discouraged going shopping because I knew that more often than not, all the nicer clothes I really wanted to wear would not come in my size.
So now I lost the weight, and wouldn't you effing know it, I'm in the same position as before again, but on the opposite end!
Winners is one of my fave stores, because every once in a while you'll score. I went to one across the street from the office at lunchtime today. And every single item I tried on was too big. We are talking Smalls and Extra-Smalls. I had to buy a child size hoodie at Roots the other day and I thought it was pretty funny. Not so funny anymore.

Food Before and After Photos

I'm going to take a crack at this one too! Will likely sub the flour with almond flour, sub the panko with some crushed pork rinds and sub the honey with a mixture of liquid stevia & xanthan gum.... -
@RnYBeyhive Nice job! Yay, you!

May Day #15 Read a book: No time for book reading for the next couple months, my reading time is generally delegated to screen-related reading...these days its researching potential vacation destinations for next trips. 12 pushups: Done, plus 12 squats + 12 sit-ups (I'm on a roll!) So apparently one of the guys at my client site is a yoga instructor and has been persuaded (read: strong-armed) to hold some yoga sessions in the afternoons a couple days a week in the lounge starting next week. This is good news for me, given that I have been MIA from my regular classes since starting up here! I guess now I need to invest in some nicer yoga gear to show up in at the office, lol.

May Day #14 12 pushups: Done, plus 12 squats + 12 sit-ups Cook from scratch: Well, I do this everyday. Here is what I made for the fam last night: Oven-roasted broccoli with grilled chicken, roasted garlic slices, and shaved parmesan. Served with homemade hummus (à la Mr.) and crackers (...from a box 😉) ...and this is what I ate. Leftover sushi from lunch: I all of it except the fatty tuna (which the Kid ate) and one of the mackerel roes (which Mr. ate)

You can test it out...try stopping the MOM for a month and see where you are at mentally...? -
Lost my taste for plain water
ms.sss replied to Jobber's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pre-surgery i drank (cold) water all the time. After surgery it just didn't do it for me, so I played around with the temperature and found that I could drink just as much water as before if it was HOT. Now, almost 7 months later, I like it ice cold again, even more so when I add sliced cucumbers to my water bottle, which makes me drink even more. Your tastes will change, keep trying different things often. -
I had knee pain, ankle/foot pain and back pain. I noticed it all getting better after about a month to a month and a half post op (around the 40 lbs loss mark). Based on that alone, I assume all my aches and pains were weight related. Now (I'm almost 7 months out) all of the pains I had are completely gone, and has been for a while, actually.

Let's talk about body dysmorphia

May Day #13: Play with an animal: This is unlikely to happen...animals not part of my daily life, unless you count the human ones... Rest day, no push ups: Did 11 anyway, and 11 squats (no sit-ups this time though). Feeling cold (surprise, surprise)...the weather has been wet and dreary and I'm so over it. May-goals-wise, looks like I'm on track to reach my weight goal for the month, but am really lacking in my exercise goals. Though I have continued with my 1-1.5 hour daily walks, my gym/class attendance is almost non-existant due to being on client site for past month. Boo.

May Day #12 ♥️♥️♥️ HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to ALL ♥️♥️♥️ Listen to Music: Went for a 1.5 hour walk (~9.5km) this morning and listened to music the whole time. 11 Pushups: Done...feel much better today so I did them properly Also added 11 squats and 11 sit ups. I could have done more but I like things to match...lol.

It's funny because its true! Sometimes just taking off said sports bra is a workout in itself, and I need to take a rest on the change room bench for a bit with it half off my back and my arms sticking straight out.

Yay you!!

Are you taking any meds to alleviate the crudiness?

May Day #11: 11 push ups: done. Easier this morning than yesterday (HINT: I did them much faster ) Yeah, yeah, I'm only cheating myself, I'm just not feeling it these days and its better than nothing! Finish a puzzle: dusted off an old Sudoku app that was still on my phone and finished a couple games while waiting for girlfriends to show up for our pre-Mother's day brunch this morning. At this particular restaurant, I normally would have ordered the Grand-Marnier-infused, Marscapone-stuffed french toast with mixed berries, bananas, caramelized pecans & caramel sauce (with a side of bacon AND sausage), as it was a favourite of mine pre-op. Today, it just wasn't calling my name. So I ordered mussels in white wine sauce and ate four of them. Four!! My, how times have changed.

Anyone switch their addiction?

...oh and one more thing...I need to do my minimum hour walk every day, it seems. I just don't feel right if I don't. -
Anyone switch their addiction?
ms.sss replied to AZhiker's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm not sure if I was obsessed or addicted to eating food pre-op (I think I just made really bad choices..but who knows? I could just be in denial...). HOWEVER. Now I have a minor (ok, major) fixation with making/cooking food. Or watching endless tv shows of people making food/judging food/competing making food. Or planning out what food I will be making for the week, and shopping for it. Once made, I am a little over the top in plating said food and then taking pictures of it. The fam is often impatient with me for taking so long to get that perfect food shot as its getting cold and they just want to eat it. AND. I don't even eat it myself. Go figure. On a less crazy note, I am also very focused (read: obsessed) with measuring/weighing and recording everything I eat in MFP, as well as measuring/recording/charting my own weight and body composition stats, which I do every single day. Does that count as transfer addictions? -
Yes. I actually just made a definitive decision on this subject today and cleared it with Mr. tonite. I've decided to get an arm lift and a tummy tuck at the same time, and to get it done this August-September IF I can get to goal and stay there for a couple months before then. Otherwise, it will have to wait until January, which is the next best time to fit it in with my schedule. The surgeon I chose has an option to post-pone a scheduled surgery date (with 2 weeks notice) at no extra cost so long as I pre-pay 50% of the total fee at booking. Given that he books about 5 months out, I think this is the best plan/contingency plan for me. So next step would be to book and plop down my prepayment on Monday. Yikes. Though as I type this, I am still thinking and re-thinking this. I have about 13 lbs left to goal, and I am banking on the fact that the rest of my body stays in a satisfactory shape so that I continue to only want arms and tummy done and not anything else.

May Day #10: 10 pushups: Still feeling sick, I didn't want to do 10 pushups, so I did 5 this morning and 5 just now. And they weren't very well done either. But thats my 10 for today, so there. Yoga: I didn't go to class last night, and I wrote off today for any classes as well. I did, however, do a couple cat and cow poses, as well as 1 good 60 second-ish child pose after this evening's set of 5 pushups just to stretch. And that's my yoga for today, so there. I think I'm grumpy.

If you tend to compare yourself to others (we really shouldn't, but we can't help it), this is important to note. It's comparatively quicker to lose 100 lbs when the starting weight is 300 lbs vs 200 lbs. The former would have lost 33% of their body weight, but the latter would have lost 50% But if you can, try not to compare at all...it will mess with your head ♥️

How soon does one poop post-op?
ms.sss replied to BabettesFeast's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
omg I'm so jealous of you! -
The last of my pain to go away was on my right side as well. If I remember correctly it may have been about 4 weeks or so until it was completely gone. But it probably reached the "only mildly annoying" phase around 2 weeks.

It took over a week for me as well. And it was after days of trying various techniques to coax it out. Those were dark days. 😰
