    Non Scale Victories

Yesterday, I wore shorts in PUBLIC for the first time in about 5 years (not counting swim shorts) and I was glad to notice that the shorts didn't ride up at all and not once did I need do that funny just-got-of-a-horse walk to un-wedge them from up in my crotch area. But.......what really blew me away was that I also noticed that my thighs DON'T EVEN TOUCH ANYMORE when I walk. Not even a little bit. I don't even remember when the last time this was the case. Crazy.

Day 9 (doing this now so I don't forget again later!!) (easy) Sleek Arms Challenge: Done (harder) Toned Arms Challenge: Done Sunglasses: I have a beloved pair of Ray-bans that I have been wearing for the past 4-5 years. I need to replace them soon as they are pretty scratched up from putting them in my purse with my car keys (lost the case a couple months ago )

I own about 40 or so pairs of shoes and boots. I wear probably 4 or 5 regularly, lol. These are the ones I use regularly these days. From left to right: Wedges I wear to client sites (I also have the same pair in black, but haven't worn them much since summer started); Running shoes for walks/runs; Espadrille sling-backs for everyday out-of-house stuff like errands/shopping/. Finally I'm wearing my crocs that I wear inside the house

Guest B-side question(s): 👠👠👠👠 I confess, I am a shoe (and purse) addict. How many pairs of shoes do you own? How many do you actually WEAR, lol? Post a pic of your fave pair...or the ones you are wearing right now...or the ones you plan on buying next.. 👠👠👠👠

Day 7 (missed yesterday, just did now...will do today's later tonite): (easy) Sleek Arms Challenge: Done. (harder) Toned Arms Challenge: Done! Is it me, or are the dips getting less awful?? BFF's: skipping this one, the BFF's probably won't want their likenesses on a public forum. ♥️
  10. YYYYYYUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!
  11. I've been relying on Avocados. And nuts (brazil, walnuts). And seeds (pumpkin and chia). The chia has the added benefit of keeping me regular. Sometimes, when it's the end of the day and I am below my calories goal I'll have some peanut butter or some cheese.
  12. Sometimes (read: most times) all I want to eat is green stuff! Ate it all in just under 90 minutes (181 cals, 7g protein, 5g NET carbs, 11g fat). Going to have focus on protein now for the rest of the day, though....
  13. Yeah, those calcium ones are like horse pills. I gave up on them eventually and take these chewable ones instead. I keep telling myself that once I run out of the chewables I"ll try the pills again, but I don't.

Day 6: (easy) Sleek Arms Challenge: Done. (harder) Toned Arms Challenge: Done. Mr. saw me doing it just now and joined in on doing the dips and the pushups. I secretly want to be as fit as him and the Kid...may take a little while... Quote: I actually first read this quote from a post in this very forum. I wish I remembered whose post I got it from though... “Do your best until you know better. And then, when you know better, DO BETTER”. - Maya Angelou

Freedom: Couldn't figure out what to post for this so am inserting this awesome video from the 2007 VMA's when Alicia Keys did a cover of George Michael's Freedom...sooooo good (fast forward to the 3:10 mark to skip her singing No One)

Day 4 (forgot to post yesterday...): (easy) Sleek Arms Challenge: Done. (harder) 5 mins to Toned Arms Challenge: Done. Aside: I feel like there should be rest days for this one! My triceps are sore and need a day to heal, man. Am going to implement a personal rest day for this harder challenge every 5 days. I'll do the easy one every day though.... Fireworks: Here is a video of Canada Day fireworks from last year (I didn't document any from this year...oopsies) fireworks.mp4
  18. omg. i totally misread your surgery date. I just saw 06/29 and assumed it was this year...sorry about that! I find that everyone's "rules" differ from surgeon to surgeon, but are more or less in the same vein. Here is a resource you can peruse: https://www.obesitycoverage.com/the-big-gastric-bypass-diet-guide/

@Freiabr like the rest, I'm sorry about your mom. She is lucky to have you around ♥️. 16 lbs in roughly 2 months! At this rate, getting to your goal by October is totally doable...keep doing what you are doing. Sounds like you have found a groove, stay in it! As for me, I reached my modified goal at the end of May. I originally had a goal of 120, but changed it to 127 cuz I wanted to stop losing weight. But....I kept losing anyway. Though just recently, the weight loss seems to have stopped-ish as I have been hovering around 118-120 for the past week and a bit. We'll see... Hope things continue to get better with your Mom!
  22. 😍 This looks delish. Tabbouleh: Another one to add to my to-make list! Will likely sub in cabbage or cauliflower rice in place of the farro/couscous/bulgur...

Day 3: Sleek Arms Challenge: Done. 5 mins to Toned Arms Challenge: Done. Disclaimer: I did the bicep curls, but with no weights (too lazy to go into basement to set up the home gym for biceps). Tricep dips are becoming my new nemesis...my arms are still sore from yesterdays chair dips, man! So the second set of dips were done with bent knees. Family Pic: Went to my mom's place today to dig through the boxes in her basement to try and find a picture of Accra Beach, and found this gem. Its dated 1955 and features my mom (on the left wearing a headband), my aunts, my grandparents, and my great-grandmother. I also found VHS tapes labeled "8mm transfers". So it looks like I've found my next project: find out whats on these tapes and get them digitized!
  24. Practice I guess, lol. But yeah, 99% of the time, the food I eat is either cold or room temperature. I'm used to it. I don't even bother heating up leftovers from the fridge (unless its something that gets gelatinous when refrigerated like bone broth or something....)
  25. Looks like you are 5 days post op...at that stage, I was still on liquids/full fluids. But when I did end up eating actual food at the minced stage 3 weeks post op (i skipped the pureed stage on my own volition cuz it grossed me out), I waited 10 to 15 minutes between 1-2 bites. Sometimes I forgot, but then the pain in my chest would remind me. I'm just over 8 months post op, and I still take a long time to eat, but I do about 10 minutes between 3-5 bites now. You'll learn what your pace should be like...your body will tell you.
