And this is it exactly, isn't it? The weight gain is because of the heavy eating. Not from being merely years out from WLS. If you don't do the heaving eating, you won't gain the weight (malabsorbtion or not)? But you are TOTALLY right about LOSING the weight (once you gain it back). It takes much longer now. When I was 235 losing 5 lbs took days. Now it takes weeks. And years from now it may take months. So you are right again in that the trick is to not gain the weight, which is very difficult for most. Let me also say that I am only a little over a year out (so i'm still pretty newbie-ish and what do I know, really?) AND I've had it pretty good in that my results were/are very straight-forwardly related to my efforts. I eat more, I gain weight, I eat less I lose it. I get that this is not the experience reported by many.

I have zero real evidence and am just talking based on simplistic view of cause and effect (i.e., out of my ass), but I think the weight gain is because of habit changes? I'm not sure if there is anyone out there who gained those 15-20-30-40 lbs years out can say that this happened while staying vigilant with the habits employed to lose the weight in the first place? But if there is, I would love to hear from them. It would be interesting/educational to do a deep dive into that person's lifestyle choices AND health/physicality to see how they could gain weight without changes in habits, right?? I know this is a touchy subject for many, so I am hesitant to post this. I hope I don't offend.

Just me, but I'm not sure that there is a finite amount time post op that people start gaining weight (2yrs, 3 yrs, etc), I think it is more a period of time AFTER one's weight stabilizes. Some people hit their weight goals (or just stop losing weight) earlier, some later. So I would assume that the folks in former group start weight gain sooner than the latter group...and not so much because of loosening of tummies (which is a factor, yes), but more because of the loosening of eating habits. With that said, I think that it would follow that if a person were to stay on course for perpetuity (and continually adjust* as needed), he/she would never gain unwanted weight. *Noting of course that some people would need to adjust more than others.

First, you look great (as usual ❤️) Second, and more importantly, I'm glad you are working out your "insides", and it's soooooo good that you are able to admit stuff to yourself and others, because that means you aren't stuck in hiding and denial, and carved the beginnings of a path out just by the recognition of it all ❤️❤️❤️❤️ @KaysMommy, so many years out and still working it, you are one of my spirit animals on here ❤️

Yesterday Tuesday, March 3 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1yr4mths PO Sleeve / 114.9 lbs ---------------------------------------- Bought a tub of mascarpone with the intention of making a peach pastry dish I had my eye on for a while, but me and the fam ended up just eating the batch of whipped-cream-mascarpone filling I made from the bowl all day (and night) long...it was sooooooo yum. Now I gotta go buy another tub (and this time I won't make the filling until AFTER the pastry is ready!) Also, I know I'm not totally healed yet, but I added a twice-around-the-block verrrrryyyy sllooooooooow run (a little over 1km) to my walk last night, and I didn't split anything open! Yay! I was all set and ready to go out again this AM for a longer, faster one, but Mr. convinced me otherwise. Boo . We did some squats instead. Double Boo. 🤬. ---------------------------------------- 7:00am - black coffee with stevia 11:00am - salad greens w/ vinaigrette + carrots + pickled beets + 3 oz pan fried chicken in bacon fat + 4 tbsp leftover beef pasta sauce 2:00pm - 1/2 cup greek yogurt + 4 oz fresh figs + 1 fl oz pumpkin seeds + 1/3 cup whipped-cream-mascarpone 5:00pm - salad greens w/ vinaigrette + carrots + 2 oz fresh figs + 1 oz white cheddar cheese + 3.5 oz pan fried chicken in bacon fat + 4 tbsp leftover beef pasta sauce 7:00pm - 1/2 banana sliced + 2/3 cup whipped-cream-mascarpone + 10 BBQ Pringles 11:30pm - 1/2 cup greek yogurt + 2.5 oz fresh figs + 1 oz blueberries + 1 fl oz pumpkin seeds + 1/3 cup whipped-cream-mascarpone + 2 squares dark chocolate --------------------------------------- Totals: 2625 cals - 159g Protein - 186g NET carbs - 125g fat ---------------------------------------

Yes. Calories matter. Though, everyone is different, and our bodies will have different responses to seemingly similar circumstances. With that said, I went from 100-300 calories the first 4 weeks to 300-500 the next couple months, to 500-750 up until month 7, when I started increasing calories because I wanted to STOP losing weight. I did not go into "starvation mode" in the sense that likes to be discussed on this forum (I honestly think the way starvation mode is talked about on here is all sorts of wrong, but that is another topic altogether, and I digress...) So long as your body has fat (or other fuel) to burn, it will. Like the smart people have said above, this early in the game, your focus should be on fluids and protein; you may not be perfect and hit it every single time, but get as close as you can comfortably. Good Luck!

My macros are all over the place and often vary greatly day to day, so I'm not sure if I'm much help...but GENERALLY on a daily basis: to not lose nor gain weight, I try to keep calories: > 1500 and < 1800 on AVERAGE (during current non-exercise phase) > 1800 and < 2100 on AVERAGE (when I was exercising, and when I WILL be exercising - soon hopefully) aim for minimum 60g protein aim to keep NET carbs low, soft goal of <100g NET carbs but have been known to go 200+ on some days (and this is mostly comprised of sugar! I don't really eat bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, beans, etc...), but have also been known to go sub 25g on other days. I don't really care about fats, so no real goals, but looking at MFP, it tells me that I'm between 50-100g post PS, and was about about 75-150 pre PS.

^^ What she said. P.S. I was cleared for everything at 4 weeks.

You could try! But maybe at home first? LOL. Generally, if a place doesn't do it already, I always ask for everything on the side (drives Mr. crazy). Aside: OMG, if I had a tall glass half filled with condensed milk, I would die, no matter how slowly I drank/ate it...
-
I think most of us make it ... The recipe version I use has: chia seeds + cashew/almond milk + protein powder + vanilla extract + salt + sweetener
-
This place had a squeeze bottle of condensed milk on the side, so I added maybe 1/2 a teaspoon of it, so I wasn't too worried with that. As for the cookie, I ate it over maybe 2-ish hours, so no issues there ...now if I wolfed it down quickly, I probably would have got the sweats and need to go potty.

Yesterday Sunday, March 1st Maintenance : 5'2" / 1.33 yrs PO Sleeve / 115.0 lbs ---------------------------------------- Went to an Italian buffet for Mr's grandma's Bday. Its really not worth it for me to eat at buffets, nor was I really interested in the spread that was on offer, so I opted out of eating and drank 2 vodka caesars instead (I ate some garnish! hahha). Mr. joined me in solidarity and skipped the buffet and just had a couple beers himself. Its funny cuz some relatives commented afterwards that the next time we get together for buffet, they are just going to order drinks too, LOL. ---------------------------------------- 9:00am - 1/2 skinny tea latte 11:00am - 5 chicken wings + 1tbsp hot sauce 3:00pm - 2 vodka caesars (each one had a gherkin + a mini pepperette as garnish...which I ate off the first one, but my nephew ate the garnish off the second one, LOL) 7:00pm - salad greens w/ vinaigrette + 1 oz orange segments + 3 chicken wings + 2.5 oz pan fried chicken in bacon fat 10:00pm - 3 chicken wings + 1 tbsp BBQ sauce + 1/4 of a cherry shortbread square + 2 fl oz Amaretto --------------------------------------- Totals: 1371 cals - 76g Protein - 99g NET carbs - 58g fat ---------------------------------------

A Tale of Two Arm Lifts (rs & ms.sss)
ms.sss replied to ms.sss's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Ah, I didn't realize you had a TT too! Ok, so yeah, laying flat will be difficult I took my first shower 1 week post op (gross!) with the help of Mr., only because he was afraid I would pass out. After that I showered by myself, but he hung around in the bathroom to keep an eye on me "just in case" for a few times. I got really tired in there really quickly, so i brought in a little stool that I would sit on while I showered. It helped alot. I probably would have been able to cook for myself by end of first week, I just chose not too, LOL. I milked the "take care of me" attitude the fam had for me as much as I could. I took me while to be able to reach up though. At around 6-8 weeks, I was still asking them sometimes to get stuff up top for me, or I would use a stool to get up and reach high stuff. I would say I am maybe 75% normal now. I can reach everything with no help nor pain (but I can still feel tightness in my arms. I can stand totally straight up and get up from a seated position without stiffness, but I still feel tightness below my incision, specifically on my pubis. I feel like skin there is so pulled tight! In terms of the "muffin top" I too started wearing the binder over clothes. I wear a compression tank top (spanx like), then my abdominal binder, then my underwear, then whatever pants are the menu that day. Oh, and then I put on my arm compression garment. The arm garment is too big for me now to offer any real compression, but I wear it anyway. Maybe the other TT folks can weight in on their recovery. I think mine was/is on the slow side. P.S. Listen to your doc and dont push yourself to do more. I did and totally regret it. -
@KaysMommy I love your photoshoot outfits!! And your hat! Love it. @BayougirlMrsS Side profile lookin' hot! Your tummy is so F.L.A.T.! Is that the buck 40 shirt? @Sophie7713 You need to tell me where you got that jacket, please. And does it come in grey or black????? @Charlie-Ann :

A Tale of Two Arm Lifts (rs & ms.sss)
ms.sss replied to ms.sss's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Oh no! I was at that party a couple weeks ago. It's not so much fun...LEAVE! That's pretty good that you can hit the horizontal level so soon! But I hear ya on the fact that alot of things are difficult without the full use of our arms. I know you already know this, but it does get better. I couldn't lie flat in bed for along time (maybe 6-7 weeks post op), but that was because of my tummy tuck, not my because of the arm lift. What is preventing you from laying flat?
