How can I tell when I am full?
ms.sss replied to skyewolfe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, I learned that I was "full" when I felt a tightness in my chest (and still do...I never get that full stomach feeling anymore since surgery) It's very easy for me to cross the line from being ok to too full, so I have also learned to eat slowly so that I have time to recognize it before I go too far. -
Lots and lots of running, I think. LOL

Here's a visual (the "after" picture was taken this past January, waist measurement that day was 26" (I'm a tiny bit smaller in the waist area now as my TT swelling has gone down since....)
-
You are right, everyone loses differently. Some people carry their weight in their mid-section, so their waist percentage reduction will not be the same as someone who carries their weight in their legs (like me). With that said, I went from a size 18-20 in women's pants to a 0-2. As we know though, sizing differs across clothing manufacturers, so to put it in a better perspective, I went from a 43.5" waist to 25.5". Then I had a Tummy Tuck a couple months ago, and now I'm just a smidge under 25". P.S. Percentage-wise the waist is the area where I lost the most. You may want to ask more people to get a better idea, especially with folks who carry their weight in their tummies.

This was one of my FAVOURITE past times during weight loss phase! I organized ALL my "skinny" and "less fat" clothes by size in sections of my closet and I would go in every week or so and try on clothes in the next smaller sized section, then give myself a self-five when they fit, and maybe dance around a bit. Eventually they all moved to another room and formed into that giant pile of clothes that I'm too lazy to sort. I suspect like many of us, you will start to love shopping again! Come check us out/join us on the OOTD thread:

Yep, these were my carb intake levels as well during weight loss phase. BUT I counted NET carbs for my totals (All carbs minus dietary fibre minus sugar alcohols). Are you numbers total or NET? I stayed away from added sugar, bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, beans, root vegetables and fruit (except the occasional berry). Of course there were a few days in there when I would have a drink or a bite of dessert but these were very, very rare occasions. I could probably count on one hand how many times I indulged in carbs during weight loss phase.

I still have ALL of my big clothes. Not because I think I'll need them later, but because I have been too lazy to get rid of them. If I ever get around to it, I plan on sorting them into piles for selling/giving to people/donating. There is just sooooo much of them that every time I look at them I'm like, "Nah, not today". 🙄

Went from greatest NSV to crushing blow in 1 hour

You sound/read that you still have it together despite this crappy news, which speaks volumes to the constructive way you will likely deal with anything that comes at you. I think the fact that you have a medical background is a benefit to you to stay level headed. Vent away, lady. ❤️ Whatever you need. P.S. Sending you good thoughts.... -

at least 45 mins if left on the counter, or if in a pinch, 10 mins in a covered bowl of warm (not hot!) water. ...Mr. does it straight out of the fridge too, but he brings his pot to boil with the eggs already in them.... #soManyWaysToBoilAnEgg -

You know what I would find useful? If food/recipes were categorized by cal or macro count... (but that might just be me, lol) -

Ah, soft boiled eggs are a science in my house. Both me and Mr. swear by completely different methods. Here's mine: A room temp egg put in for 6 minutes in a pot of already boiling water, then immediately into a bowl of ice water for 2 minutes (add 15 seconds for each additional egg up to 4 eggs in total). -

Ah right, i didn't think you were categorizing it for your website. In that case, I'm changing my answer: If I had to pick one, I'd say BREAKFAST (even though I basically never eat breakfast...) -
