  1. So many choices of protein from organic to hemp to pea to whey protein isolate. What is the best for us dealing with malabsorption from RNY BYPASS? I'm looking at whey protein isolate 24g protein 0 fat 2g carbs 110cal per serve 30g
  2. FOUND out i can get effervescent potassium on script so it dissolves in water :D
  3. You are very right. Most are having RNY BYPASS but few are given VSG sleeve. Mind you I've seen about 30 episodes!
  4. That makes sense I go with pounds because most people on here I've noticed are American!
  5. High school reunion/best friend's wedding
  6. Hey guys hope all is well. I've been so hooked on getting RNY but now I've been told my slow release medication might be affected by the malabsorption so I'm curious now about VSG... From your experience does the sleeve interfere with the hunger hormones I think it's called GHERIN? I'm just unsure if the restriction on stomach volume is enough for me especially long term I need to lose around 150lbs in 12 months! If there's no change in the intestines just the stomach? Thanks for your help.
  7. How's the stomach feel? Any hunger issues?
  8. yeah have issues with mine all the time just for blood tests. Ask for the senior nurse or the doctor and ask for the butterfly
  9. Well think about it this way these people are mostly immobile and cannot leave their house so the parent becomes the carer. The cook. The person who does the shopping so they are responsible. How can you say you love or care if you sit back and watch your child get bigger and bigger and do nothing at all to help. Then a few episodes there was 2 young girls early 20s that were 600lbs and could barely walk one girl mentioned that she was 400lbs at 12 years old, well who the hell is buying the food feeding the child? The parents are paying for everything and watching their little girl get bigger and bigger each year. How is it even possible for a child not even a teenager be 400lbs and nobody intervene before she gets any higher? A 12 year old girl shouldn't even be more than what 150lbs! So I agree the parents are to blame she didn't go from 100lbs to 600lbs in a couple of years she progressively put on weight everyday for 10 years to hit 600+ at 23! I feel so sad because girls in particular deal with body image more than ever at a younger age and that poor girl really had no life up until she got the surgery! I have 8 nieces from 3 to 17 and neither one of them is overweight. I have 7 siblings and I'm the only one who has dealt with obesity!
  10. I'll have to talk to the surgeon but I'm only going with RNY which isn't as restrictive with absorption and my meds are high dose so hopefully be okay thanks for your input
  11. I've found an article on my meds it's written as slow release/sustained release medication and I've read potassium breaks down and absorbs in the small intestine More than 85 percent of the potassium you consume is absorbed in your body, mostly in the small intestine.
  12. Totally agree I've watched numerous episodes. I really get angry with some people on the show. Dr now goes so far above and beyond to help these people and then some of them are so rude to him. They are completely selfish and don't even realise how much time and effort be puts in to help them.i read that the producers of the show paid for some of the surgeries so they didn't pay anything and they complete throw away everything after being given a life changing surgery. A few of the ladies on the show were so rude and mean and lying continuously. I feel disgusting when they get surgery and go straight to eating crap, like how hard is it too go to a supermarket? It must cost hundreds a week to buy take out seriously do American people not know how to cook or go to a supermarket? I'm obese sure but I eat at home I may go take out once a month lol I cringe just to think about how much money I'd wasted on junk food each day if they eat like 5 pizzas a day!! Dr now is amazing he's in his 70s and doing major surgerys every day!
  13. Well that's a hard one I never really looked at myself hard enough when I was a kid but I think I started to get cuddly from about 12; got bigger through high school but don't think I actually hit OBESE until I was at least 21? So I guess to be frank my weight issues have been around 20 years, it's weird because if I look at 'elementary photos up to 10 I was a skinny little runt but then around the time of puberty it all went down hill year by year but yeah obesity probably from adulthood until now I'll be 35 this year when I get my RNY BYPASS. I did have one year "2012" I managed to get down to 200 lbs and life was great, had more female attention in a few months than I ever had in my life prior but life happens and put most of my weight back on a few years later and now I'm at 317; finally I'm back mentally in a good spot and really committed to getting surgery this year and starting a new life!!
  14. Plain Greek is best then just add protein powder
  15. Totally agree with the one where you're eating healthy. Thinking healthy and nobody wants to hear it LOL reminds them of their failures!!
  16. Did someone say Cape +++ enters Superman
  17. Be strong. Think of the future. Think of a better life. Healthy happy life.
  18. I'm curious if anybody knows first hand? I have a kidney condition I've had all my life. I take serious meds span K potassium 600mg X 15/day Sodium bicarbonate 840mg X 10/day If I miss my meds for even a week my potassium levels plummets and I can be hospitalized. My condition is rare it's hard to explain but that's what I know. I'm not sure if there will be any issues with a RNY BYPASS since we're told to take vitamins and supplements anyway and mine are just real strong script only!! I know I'll have to ask surgeon when time comes in just curious if anybody had any issues before???
  19. That's crazy I should be okay I only need to lose max 150lbs
  20. I think that's the safest option and will give me the malabsorption to help I'd much rather go with an operation that is more common in Australia less complications etc
  21. Spoken to multiple doctors in Adelaide none of them offer traditional DS! I DON'T KNOW if I can afford to go interstate. Planes and hotels etc surely RNY BYPASS is still good enough?
  22. That's a great number
