Well I'm sure they will have access to all your medical records and your problems with your weight plus any co-morbidities?
Just explain how much you've been through and how many times you've tried to lose the weight before and you really need help your doing this for health reasons not vanity

At the end of the day it comes down to calories and food choices but the bypass should have malabsorption

Excuse me this is a free country and a free open forum so we can post what we like when we like I'm sorry if it doesn't conform to your politically correctness or because I don't sit there and make everyone feel good about their failures, I'm sorry about the tough love, if YOU have a problem you can block me!!!

That's a different topic and a different room but again there's no rules to what you can talk about this is my monthly check in Vs a story about my full journey... People should feel safe and happy to post what they like.
Thank you.

Well guys this is my monthly check in or check up.
i hope I'm able to offer some inspiration to those who are yet to have surgery or still deciding.
But I have got to say this roux en Y gastric bypass operation has saved my life!!!
It's officially 9 months since I had my surgery here in Australia and it has been amazing, a breeze, no issues at all and lost weight consistently every month.
I've been in maintenance now 3 months pretty much with my weight sitting on average 165lbs but I've also seen 163,164 and 165.
i still weigh myself most days; it's a habit.
i don't worry about logging my food but I do keep a mental note of my intake calories; I still use shakes most days as some days I'm not hungry but others day I am really hungry...
I can eat mostly anything without any major issues and my weight has not changed at all which is great.
So 9 months since surgery and 11 months since preop diet.
Feeling amazing; looking great; starting to feel confident finally and my birthday coming very soon.
Had to buy some more clothes once again even though my weight isn't changing I think my body composition is changing like overtime your skin may retract and I think mine is doing it naturally or via gravity either way it's Great.
159lbs lost at my lowest weight but as I said my weight can vary a few lbs from day to day.
I'll be 36 very soon but I look and feel 26 and can't wait to start living life and finding a lovely lady.
My journey is over but I still have to keep focused and make sure I monitor my weight for the long term.
i just want to say it is possible to be successful. It is possible to lose ALL your excess weight and keep it off...
Thank you.

I lost 12 pounds since surgery and 10 pounds since my first visit to him. Is this odd? My BMI is 33 but the whole point was weight loss. I guess I could've asked but... Is that normal? Did your surgeon comment at your firt post-op appointment?
Every time I saw the surgeon he checked my weight I mean I was excited to show him anyway plus he had a big electronic scale in the room.
I had already lost 65lbs before surgery anyway and I've now lost a total of 158lbs

Your surgeon really NEEDS to fix this something must be wrong internally that is not normal at all

What exactly are you eating

Also, I like to drink wine occasionally and I've heard that if you drink it causes dumping. Feel free not to answer if this is too gross and I apologize for asking if this offends you.
Don't stress over never had that happen but I'm usually home anyways when I eat... It's just like any normal diarrhoea symptoms so you know when it happens your stomach will react first

He may be right but it is known if you already have reflux it is an issue I've read 100s of posts about people actually suffering from reflux only because of the sleeve so it is your choice in the end good luck 😁

5 hours ago, joleza said:so, i am one week out. and my doc calls for a 2 week liquid diet of Protein Shakes, broth, sugar free Jello and juice. I am having trouble taking in more than 400 calories a day. 2 of the Premier Protein shakes has 320 calories, and between 10 calorie broth and 5 calorie juice, i end up around 400 calories a day. that just seems like too little. my understanding is that if you dont eat enough calories, you body will reject losing weight because it thinks you are starving. i can drink a couple more Protein shakes, but that would be way too much Protein.
would appreciate your thoughts.
I was on shakes for months and only taking Max 500kcal and 100g protein and I was fine losing weight well..

6 hours ago, Sleeve sis 87 said:Good morning! This is my first day I am able to drink smoothies. I made my smoothie with my vanilla flavored Protein and was so disappointed! I can NOT stomach the Protein. Not sure if I’d even be able to stomach the flavorless protein powders because the ones I’ve tried also have a taste. They all taste like milk(which I do not enjoy drinking). Are there any supplements or anything else I can take to get my protein in during this phase?
Maybe it is the whey you might need pea or isolate which is less lactose? Or some people can get protein Water?

The time will fly it feels like I only had surgery a month ago but it's actually coming up to 9 months ago and I've done amazing. Had the BYPASS.

I personally stopped all sugar for months unless it was zero calories sugar substitute didn't bother me still got sweetness from Stevia and such which is found in many products including yoghurt
-
Dumping is not that bad just makes you avoid certain foods.. that is the only issue I've had and I've lost weight really well and kept it off now for months I lost over 150lbs which is all my excess weight and I've never done that before...
-
You know what you're doing is completely undoing your surgery....
You need to complete change your mind frame and throw out all the bad foods..
Nobody else can do it for you

I had insurance with a gap of $4000- which covered everything and all surgeon appointments for life
-
Well if reflux is your issue the sleeve won't help it... It's a known fact sleeve will make it worse... Your surgeon should have told you...
I've had bypass nearly 9 months ago with not one single problem except some dumping but that's expected...
