  1. Sorry but I needed to share.

I'm not sure why but the first time for me I've been feeling really bloated in my belly like never before.

Feels tight and uncomfortable. I'm 8 months post RNY.

I will admit I've had some sugary things this week but it never bothered me like this before.

Feel like I need to go toilet but nothing happening.

Might need to get some laxatives tomorrow.

Been trying coffee and Vitamin C I'm not sure what it is I might have missed a couple days of Vitamins but nothing major.

For the first time in months I feel like I'm retaining Water or something..... my sleeping hasn't been good this week either and if I don't sleep enough I don't drop water weight either..

Hopefully it will pass in a few days...

    Really uncomfortable feeling...

I am 36years old and after almost 7 years post-op from my sleeve surgery, I've gained ALL the weight back over the course of these years. I know..how? Well, I had two jobs and school and no time for "myself." Managing all three of these commitments, I also started by old eating habits in eating junk food and fast food since there was no time for cooking and meal-prepping.

So after my first visit, I asked my doctor if it was possible to get a re-sleeve. He discouraged me and said he strongly recommends a revision to the gastric bypass. I am a little nervous since I've heard so many things from my friends about malnutrition, having to randomly use the bathroom any type you eat, and possible depression. Not sure if anyone here can help me in making this decision. I have a meeting with my doctor on July 7th and I want to be ready to tell him with confidence that I am ready to have a revision to the Gastric Bypass.

Please tell me what should I be expecting, any concerns, any questions that I should raise?

Hopefully your life is more under control now so that you have time to commit to the bypass surgery otherwise If you face similar issues you may face the same challenges.

But I only dump if I have something high sugar or fatty content which is obviously rarely. You need to learn to eat clean and healthy again.

    Hi

I am so excited my insurance (US Family Health Plan subsidiary of Tricare) just approved my sleeve. My consult was 6/10 then had testing done. Insurance was submitted Fri 6/26 and approved today! I had a lapband in 2010 and due to complications has to have it removed less the 6 months after getting it. I was 430 ish pounds post band. I lost 60lbs before surgery and have kept off most of my weight from that time. Currently in the 285 ish lb range.

Now I am just waiting on a surgery date and hoping for August!

Hopefully you don't have issues with reflux

  4. There's multiple reasons for not smoking.

The chemicals in nicotine will definitely interfere with your healing and your breathing and every organ in your body.

Most surgeons won't operate on someone that is not serious enough to make changes to save their lives...

Hey all, I've read and seen a lot of great success stories on here that lost 100% of their goal (or more) and I want to eventually be one of you! So I must ask- how did you do it? What's your secret? How long did it take and how much did you lose? Inquiring minds want to know!

    Thank you in advance!

I will say I'm early days but I've lost all my excess weight and below the goals doctor set for me. I lost exactly 157lbs in 8 months that included 2 months before surgery.

It's now 8 months since surgery and I've been maintaining well.

I guess for me personally I stayed on liquids looking term literally with the bypass I had no urge to eat for months and Protein Shakes kept me satisfied...

I was very strict on myself weighing every and tracking every single little thing I consumed.

I logged everything and kept on top of it and had next to no carbs for months.

It's only recently I've been exploring more real food and meals but still seem to be maintaining well...

The bypass seems to have totally changed my metabolism because I will admit I've had some treats whilst in maintenance and not gained at all...

I started at 322lbs and now most days I'm 165lbs and I look great and feel great with BMI of 22.2 :)

Not only do you lose Vitamins with the bypass but you also have less calories absorbed.

For instance I lost 14 lbs the first month after VSG and weighed 296 day of surgery.

I lost 12 lbs gastric bypass after first month and weighed 180 day of surgery.

I can only imagine what I would have lost had this been my first surgery being 116 lbs heavier. Not to mention I wouldn't have erosive esophagitis D and who knows maybe GERD free ?

I also had hiatal hernia repair when the did the bypass revision. It was a much more painful surgery for me.

Yeah it's awesome isn't it how well the bypass works :)

I don't see where to put my profile. I had VSG on May 28 so one month out. I lost 6 pounds first week but then stalled for three weeks while on clear and full liquids and caloric intake 400-500 calories per day. I easily lost 30 pounds before surgery. And have been walking 30 minutes 4 times a week. Been frustrating to see plus 1 lbs and minus 1 pound for 3 weeks. I just started soft food stage yesterday after 2 weeks pureed food.< br />

I would be looking closely at every thing you put in your mouth unless you have a metabolic disorder it's near impossible to not lose weight when only on liquids...

  8. Most PT and dietitian always set a high weight goal to give people realistic expectations as most people don't lose all 100% EBW but that BMI of 30 they are giving you is irresponsible.

My surgeon and dietitian both gave me vague goals but I always had my own personal goals in mind and luckily with hard work I've flown passed every goal I set and have been maintaining well for 2 months with BMI of 22 :)

    Hi everyone -

I’m so glad this website exists - I never knew about it until today.

I’m 31 years old, 6’1 and 350 lbs. I’ve decided to start researching information on the gastric sleeve. I live here in Los Angeles and have some great hospitals available to me.

I’m wondering if anyone has had their sleeve surgery from CEDARS SINAI or UCLA? If so, do you have a surgeon you recommend? How was your experience? Any particular surgeon you thought was incredible? I would LOVE to connect and talk more if you’re willing.

I have a web seminar with Cedars tomorrow which will hopefully give me more information, but hearing directly from patients would be amazing as well!

More generally, if there’s anyone in the LA area that’s had the sleeve and would be willing to talk to me about their experience I would be very grateful.

I’m feeling nervous but optimistic. I’ve tried everything since I was in 6th grade to lose weight and I’m hoping the sleeve will be a powerful tool that I can use to access the healthy life I so desperately want!

Thank you all for the support.

Have you decided on the sleeve over BYPASS? Being that you're at 350 you'll need to lose at least 150lbs
