    BMI TOO LOW???

Yeah I had 2 surgeons in mind so I gave the smaller practice first choice but they didn't give me much confidence so I spoke to the other one and they made me feel much more confident even if it costs a little more it's worthwhile!!
  2. JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE TO A LOCAL SURGEONS OFFICE; THE RECEPTIONIST TELLS ME THE SURGEON PREFERS ONLY TO DO VSG AS FIRST CHOICE FOR VIRGIN BARIATRIC PATIENTS MY BMI IS NOT HIGH ENOUGH NEED TO PUT ON WEIGHT... WTF never been told before I'm not heavy enough.... My BMI is 43 but oh we've seen 50-60 bmi like seriously she was so rude said the surgeons first choice is VSG.... And that's basically it.. Really turned me off with her tone and attitude, I was looking there because they are better prices but forget it I'll pay extra for better SURGEONS and so I rang my 2nd choice and the reception was much nicer said the surgeon will listen to your decision and will talk about pros and cons but it will be your decision mostly as long as nothing serious comes up of course. I rather pay a little extra for a surgeon and hospital that is much more known and has more reviews I just thought I'd give the smaller place a chance but no thanks... QUALITY OVER QUANTITY! Still months out but getting closer everyday.. I don't want to get the bloody VSG and then have complications and have to be revised to RNY later on like most people, I only want one operation thank you!

    Travel Question

Take plenty of water and you can prepare all your meals and put the in handy airtight containers also order the very small entree only or share a meal with your husband like if you're only on soft foods just take nibbles off his plate or tell him to avoid restaurant if you're unsure he will have to learn to accommodate his healthy new wife

    OK, so now what??!!

I've heard people fixing GERD and reflux with bypass but of course it varies
  8. Yeah I've done tons of research and my BMI is 43 with co morbidities so I feel RNY is best I can only afford 1 surgery and only want 1 so I hope my surgeon listens to my decision wisely

    6 month post-op weight loss

Of course need to take into account how much you have to lose if you need to lose 300 vs 100 of course it will be quicker with more to lose
  10. That's great, you look younger what surgery did you have?

    6 month post-op weight loss

I'd ask why not the BYPASS as it helps more but in the end it's your surgery
  12. Amazing 60lbs since December
  13. ^^ each to their own but I know quite a few places in Australia who are able to do surgery from first consultation within 6-8 weeks they don't ask us to jump through all those hoops all they require is medical history and blood tests before committing to surgery I don't see the point of the 3-6 month diet since I've spent the past 20 years off and on diets as it is the reason why I'm looking at RNY bypass is BECAUSE diets haven't bloody worked for me DUH..

  15. That's it^ no use getting half an operation go full throttle with the bypass
  16. My whole life long as I can remember since I watched Christopher Reeves in Superman I've been obsessed. I've bought multiple shirts with the big 'S' on front but most only go up to X or 2X so that's my dream to wear one of them and possibly have a nice chest to fill it out 😀 Up up and away!!

    Pre Op Diet

Most people I know in Australia go on a pre-op diet of 2-4 weeks just liquid protein using VLCD optifast shakes that's it..
  21. Still researching about 6 months but pretty made up my mind with the RNY bypass. There's plenty of information but they say if you need to lose more than 100lbs bypass is best it may be more restrictive in ways. And yes lapband has been known to have issues over the years.. Just keep doing your research

    6 month post-op weight loss

There's a few things to consider.. Generally BMI over 40 is best for bypass as it is more restrictive. Generally if you have over 100lbs excess to lose overall you lose more percentage with bypass. But bypass does come with malabsorption which means you'll need to live off vitamins and make sure you get enough protein and water in your diet. There is possible dumping if you ever decide to even try junk food/fat/sugars ever again. There's plenty of information about..the main difference is sleeve actually removes most of your stomach where BYPASS may reroute your digestive system but your stomach still remains intact. In the end it's your choice! And the more work and effort you put in the better of course!
