Gastric or Sleeve which is better?

I've heard from numerous people that RNY is the best most efficient surgery

Why? I've looked at multivitamins and they cost about $20 for 100 pills that's about $7 a month? Protein bars are way way over priced buy a whole tub of protein that will last a month...
  5. You can have it. We had a full 2weeks of around 110 but mostly around 100 and today is currently 90, (I've done the conversion calculator online lol)
  6. Hey there getting closer everyday to my surgery I've still got months but I feel better that is happening this year I just have more questions.. Okay first of all for ppl who have had the full rueny bypass how long did it take before you could have solids without discomfort. After a few months did your appetite come back or did you have to live eating small portions for the long term just curious I'm hoping the portions stay small to help me long term. Anyone from Adelaide got any experiences dealing with Dr DONOFRIO??? In regards to vitamins are you just taking a general multivitamin or are other vitamins required??? Is it possible to live off protein shakes long term??? An I right that bypassing all those intestines removes the hormone that makes you hungry or is that another surgery? Did anyone in Australia get any money off Medicare after surgery or is it all out of pocket with PHI of course. I understand the surgery is only a tool and we still have to change our eating and exercise but that the bypass helps to lose weight quicker and that you don't absorb much calories due to bypass is that right I want to make sure I've got the right information but also hoping to hear from people first hand experience. I'm in Adelaide South Australia and will be having operation this year but still months off just want as much information as possible as this is a huge decision. I'm lucky I've got no issues with hospitals or surgery had my appendix out and my tonsils when I was younger... Thanks for all your help Mike If you want to be surgery buddies and you are going to have the bypass this year feel free to msg me.

    Looking for a surgery buddy;

I'm on the same boat 320lbs want to be around 185 and I'm 183cm tall
  9. I've not yet had my surgery but have done tons of research and I believe for those who don't feel like eating to invest in a decent protein shake to give all those nutrients and vitamins as well as something like hydralite or sugar free Gatorade for those important electrolytes. It is definitely a shock to the system with this new stomach

100 lbs in under a year?

You look quite tall? I'm 183cm and 320lbs my goal weight is around 185 I assume once I do get the bypass I'll be able to also follow you and lose the 140lbs that I need within a year definitely but tell me what is your fitness regime or diet like since the bypass..because it's not easy to lose that much so I'd like any tips from the man that has done it so well!!

    BYPASS QUESTIONS HELP

That all sounds pleasant. I hope my hunger will decrease that's my main issue never get full. Not only will I save tons of money on food bill but I'll definitely lose weight better but the fact we have to take vitamins because of the malabsorption means we absorb less calories and nutrients that's my main reason for the RYGB over the sleeve.. 73kgs in 12 months is a great number that's about 6kg a month on average... But obviously each month would be varied.. It will be so amazing to be able to eat so small portions and that way can afford better quality foods! I've heard some ppl living off protein shakes for 2 out of 3 meals so they consume less calories but better nutrition.. I can't wait but I've got months to go to save and find the right doctor. I'll be 35 this year so it's like my birthday present to myself to get the bypass. It's long overdue I wish I knew about it 10 years ago!!

    Too fat for a bypass

Watch the show on foxtel "my 600 lb life" one specific doctor in the USA deals specifically with those around 400lb+ i think the heaviest he actually worked on was about 700lbs. he does bypass and sleeve for those patients no other surgeon would touch.
  17. Hello there I'm from Australia I'm currently 320lbs and my ultimate goal would be 190lbs as i am tall and come from a family of big builds so 190 would be perfect. Here in Australia we can use health insurance to pay most of the surgery but I'll still be out of pocket $5000 but the catch is we must weight out 12 months before we get surgery i finally signed up for insurance 2 months ago so my surgery will be just after my 35th birthday 😀 and then should be able to lose the 130lbs within the following 10 months in time for my 36th birthday party.. I would just like to hear from others who are going through the operation Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass. I've done tons of research and that's the surgery i want Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass the best for long term. I've heard that it makes it so you don't have much cravings and you don't absorb calories as much because of bypass and you have to live off vitamins and such. I hope people can clarify things for me about all that stuff thank you!!!

  19. Sounds good what was the full cost of gap and surgeon out of Pocket before Medicare rebates tnx they vary in adelaide one place is 4500 another is 2500 the higher one includes more after care which I'm not worried about.
  20. New&Improved

    80 lbs gone forever

80lbs in 4 months is monumental congrats but what surgery did you choose bypass or sleeve tnx
  21. Okay that's great I'll definitely look into it. I'm only going to be 35 and i do meet the bmi as I'm at 41bmi but yes I'll definitely ask the doctors and surgeons here in Adelaide because I'm under the impression I'll be out of pocket at least 4-5000 for surgeon and anesthesist not including optifast and vitamins etc but if Medicare Will help that will be good i am on Medicare and pension card.
  22. That's the first I've heard about any Medicare rebate. I'll have to make an appointment with the surgery and ask those specific questions. I was told Medicare Will only pay if you meet the standard for public surgery not private. I've still got 10 months wait as I've just started with PHI Tnx
  23. How much was the cost for surgeon and anaesthetist gap I've been told About 5000 not sure how Medicare works I'll have to ask my surgery in Adelaide...
