  3. A lot of Drs accept the amt ins will pay without billing additional to patient. It is the same thing as when ins contracts with the dr to pay a certain amt and the dr can not bill for the rest. The dr requiring you to use that one could be another matter all together. Still I agree the amt is excessive. I will be self pay also and I was given a list of ppl I could use or one of my choosing. I live 2 hrs away and the surgeon has no problems with me getting as much pre-op stuff done closer to home. Hugs Rita
  4. Hi, I know what you mean about the ppl. I figured if I came I could find a place close to where they wanted (I just didn't know what area to look for) and then I can stay in the room with some good books and watch the view or run away to the shops while the girls went where all the ppl were. I am checking on the Ocean Plaza. They rent to 18 but up the price a lot more than it will be if I go.

You said your hotel... where is it?

If I get to come maybe we can meet up with each other. :biggrin2:

    Hugs

Not band related but need help!

Different consignment shops operate differently. Most charge a percentage of the sale price, but some can be as high as 50% or more. You might b able to look in the phone book and call around. You could also try used furniture stores. If you have talked to a realtor, ask about including the furniture with the house. Another option would be to keep it in the house until either the house sold or you make other arrangements for it. A house generally shows better with some furniture, especially a few nice pieces. Buyers can get an idea of what it will look like with your own there. If all else fails you may be able to donate it and get a deduction on your taxes. I have also seen furniture on ebay. Hope this helps Hugs Rita:smile2:
  6. :smile2: Congrats on getting the insurance coverage straightened out. I wish mine had the medically necessary clause. Instead they have paid for a heart cath, 3 hospitalizations, stress test, lung scan, 1 er visit, a CT scan & ultrasound of GB and carotid(Sp), CPAP (can't use) nearly monthly visits to heart, lung & kidney drs, plus thousands of dollars for meds in the last 1 1/2 years. All with no real diagnosis. That is not counting 6 days in CCU, heart cath, & 3 echos for congestive heart failure in Oct 06. Payment for WLS, ZERO. Sorry bout the rant
  7. If you contact them they may be in the process of getting surgeons on board. I sent an email and got a very quick response from Regi. He is working on getting the 2 doctors I am interested in signed up. Don't give up Hugs Rita
  8. I ran into the same problem. I found a company that provides a type of insurance against complictions. They have drs they work with that accept self pay. You can find more info at BLIS - Improving Access to Weight Loss Surgery. They do have drs in MI
  9. For more information about BLIS, Inc., and the BLISCare program, please visit BLIS - Improving Access to Weight Loss Surgery. The cash price patients pay when their surgeons participate in BLISCare includes something virtually unprecedented: additional medical care. Self Pay Patients

BLIS - Improving Access to Weight Loss Surgery Who is your surgeon? I found out just because the dr is not listed on their site does not mean you can't work with them to get the drs & Hospitals signed on with BLIS. Hugs Rita

    Self Pay Patients

I am going to be self pay and I am worried about the cost of any complications I may have. I found information about a program called BLIS. www.bliscompany.com It is a type of insurance that covers the surgeons they contract with. You pay a little more up front, but they will pay the doctors and hospital if you have complications. I am still researching them but I found the information on OH. For me it is important to be prepared "Just in Case"

    Research Diligence

I contacted Blis because there was no SC Doctors on the list. I got an email telling me that they were working on getting one of Drs here on board. The Dr is willing and approved. The hospital is holding out. They may be doing the same thing for other drs

    WWYD: re: infection/redness in navel

I have not had surgery or major weight loss but because of my weight gain I have had a major problem with yeast rashes and the "stinkys". I use Mitchem gel deodorant anywhere I had a problem. It protects the skin from moisture and takes care of the stinkys.

    WWYD: re: infection/redness in navel

I have had that problem in my groin area. I use Monostat or equivalent type cream. I clears it up quickly. I can avoid problems by using gel deodorant on all the "creases". It is good to know about the TT issue. It may be worth putting up with the irritation and itch for a while. Hugs Rita
