I've perfect vision my whole life. I'm 54 and in the last 5-7 years I developed an astigmatism out of the blue. I have 20/60 in my left eye now. On top of that I need +2.50 reading glasses to read. Could it maybe be just aging? That's what my eye dr told me.
Also, before surgery I would get blurry vision at night. My endo told me it was from my high bs.
I hope you find an answer!

I am 7 months post-sleeve and for the past 2 weeks, I've had issues with my vision. I've always had fantastic vision and only used light Rx glasses for when my eyes get tired from working on the computer. I'm talking 20/10 vision. Suddenly every day my vision is getting worse. Up close and far away. Everything is blurry, I'm having to squint as I drive and as I type.
So... I went to an optometrist over the weekend, thinking, maybe I'm just getting older and these years of working on the computer are catching up with me. The doctor did his tests and said my vision had definitely gotten "worse" since my last visit (about 2 years ago). My left eye is 20/20 with a little help and my right is 20/40.
He decided to dilate my eyes and noticed a "freckle" on my retina on my right eye that wasn't there before. That was the one and only thing he could find that was off, he told me that I need to see an Ophthalmologist for further testing because he "has no idea what's going on" VERY REASSURING lol. He also informed me that my new glasses won't fix whatever underlying cause is making my vision so bad so quickly.
I have an appointment next Tuesday to see the Ophthalmologist...so we'll see what is really going on. Just wondering if anyone had anything similar happen with their eyes and what the cause was. It could be completely unrelated to the surgery...so I'm just curious
    Hope you're all doing fabulous!!!!

Thank you very much, but my surgery was in October 7 months later, 100lbs lost since surgery, 135 total. My family members have said their vision has fluctuated with weight loss/gain...IDK, we shall see!

I do have loose and sagging skin in certain areas. I gained my weight really fast (100lbs) in a year so I was covered in stretch marks from my knees to my armpits lol. So that skin hasn't recovered as well as other areas. My breasts have lost most of their volume. My belly is sort of apron like and my inner thighs sag. My arms came right back. But here's the thing: I lost the genetic lottery when it comes to skin. I scar from even the littlest scratch. I knew this was going to happen. Everyone is different and you may be one of the lucky ones who snaps back into place. But I tell you a little sagging skin is well worth it! I can DM pics if you're worried Dont stress!

YOU GO GIRL! I remember I knew I was getting big when I went to California Adventure after not having gone for a few years and had trouble fitting into the seat on the "Soaring Over California" ride. Still took me 8 years to actually do something about it. I'm so happy for you, it's a great feeling!!!!!

I am really happy with my decision. It was the right choice for me and has worked a miracle so far!
I TOTALLY get it. My brother and I used to use our phones and look at the internal pedometer and there was one day only 3 steps were logged. Granted, my phone isn't in my hand every-time I get up, but STILL. I know there were days I'd walk to go to the restroom, walk to the fridge to eat and then take a shower and that would be it. My treadmill arrived today so I'm excited to see how the weight loss goes or if I'll put on muscle? We shall see!
I was the same, thin all my life...then before I knew it I was 299!!! You can do it and you will get to a place where your body is healthy and comfortable.
Thank you so much, I really hope so too. My heart aches every month, but I'm praying it'll just happen in time.
Keep me posted on what you decide and if you ever have ANY questions, know you can ask...I'm an open book girl
Lots of love and luck on your weight loss journey!!!

When I was diagnosed with PCOS, unable to get pregnant for the last 10 years...I was told losing the weight would increase my fertility and some of the PCOS side effects.
Also, around the same time II'd had a bad bout of pneumonia and was put on steroids for a good few months and packed on weight. After I recivered from the Pneumonia and was released from the hospital, last April I started the process.
A few months into my waiting period, still pushing 300lbs , I broke a chair on the 4th of July. I was so embarrassed. Enough was enough. I want my baby more than anything and I'm tired of worrying about the weight capacity of a lawn chair. All of this was humiliating and discouraging.
I also work from home and aside from walking up and down the stairs during work hours, I'm usually sedentary for 10 hours..
My hubs is 6'6" and weighs 178, I FINALLY weigh less than him. HA!!!
What procedure are you looking to do?
  9. Thanks
danieocean reacted to Sosewsue61 in I REALLY want to get my breasts done, but also want to get pregnant
I would wait for all plastics until after childbearing is over... maybe arm lift, but that would be it, anything else is going to get stretched out by pregnancy and implants can cause plugged milk ducts even if you don't nurse. I encourage you to breastfeed however as it is superior nutrition and helps the uterus to go back into shape faster, and the most endearing relationship bonding with a baby ever. Good luck.

I only gained 15 pounds during pregnancy but went for a DD to H. After the pregnancy they did not go down. I would suggest waiting since you have no idea how your body would respond. If you are thinking of getting something now maybe do your thighs since if you only gain 20-30 lbs. with a pregnancy that wouldn't change much. Also thigh surgery is a pretty rough recovery if you were caring for an infant or toddler in the future. Just my 2 cents.

He's very thin. But I swear, his bone structure is really small. I've got a strong frame (My last name literally translates to the word LARGE in english HAHA!) and my family are all built the same, more broad and thin. That "I'm just big boned saying is really true!!! He's a type 1 diabetic and has a hard time packing on weight (the opposite of my problem) LOL! When we met I actually put 40lbs on him, he was very very thin. He's maintaining at 185 now and he's happy. Buying clothes for him is such a challenge. Most stores have "big & tall" sections for men, there aren't any "thin & tall" stores out there that I'm aware of. Luckily more places have been carrying "Large Tall" sizes, so it's been easier to buy him clothes that are long enough that he's not swimming in. There are pictures of him on my profile in my before picture. He may appear even smaller because I was so large hahahaha

Many things that all culminated in spring 2018
    1. Was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer 10 years ago at the ago of 40
    2. Never lost the weight in the intervening 10 years and in February 2018 had another abnormal mammogram (thankfully not cancer again, but it scared the bejesus out of me)
    3. My dear father in law passed away in December 2017 from complications of extreme morbid obesity— he was over 500 pounds when he passed. His goal was to make it to his 80th bday and he fell 5 days short.
    4. January of 2018 I went on a family girls trip to Orlando to finally see Potterverse.
At the time I was 250 pounds and could only get on a handful of rides.
All I could think about during the trip was that we had waited for soooooo long to finally do this thing that I wanted to do so badly and my weight ruined my trip for me.
    5. A trip to Belize in April 2018. I wanted so much to do an entire day snorkeling tour.
I went, but had to spend half the time on the boat watching everyone else have a blast because I physically couldn’t keep up with all of the swimming.

In June 2018 I decided ENOUGH and scheduled my first consult.
Had surgery this February (10 weeks ago to this day) and I haven’t regretted it for one moment.

I’m still very far from goal, but I’ve lost 53 pounds from my highest weight in July 2018 and loving the decision.
Fingers crossed we take a December trip to Belize and I WILL be able to do that whole day snorkeling adventure!

My why: I was completely exhausted from shouldering the casual, clinical, disapproving gaze of others for decades. Losing the weight's been great for my knees, my endurance and my shopping budget, but it's mostly been transformational mentally.
People who have never been fat genuinely don't understand that people observe you in public. It's like when someone wanders by in a particularly ostentatious outfit while you're sitting at an outdoor cafe and your gaze tracks them - sometimes you're thinking "that looks amazing", sometimes you're thinking "puce and mauve make that coat look like 70s upholstery". The gaze can be positive or negative but it's assessing. The difference is that people who wear loud clothing 1. usually do it because they want attention and 2. CAN TAKE IT OFF.
The incredible relief it's been to shed that constant monitoring is hard to express. I don't get quietly observed and judged wherever I go these days, and when I do feel people looking at me, I know it's because I'm put-together and look damn good, so it's not an oppressive feeling. And if I wanted to avoid it I could, by dressing slightly differently. The only option to be unmonitored when I was fat was to avoid other people.
I know some people had thicker skins than I did about this stuff. But man, I am glad that psychic weight is GONE.

I'm only able to take three days (surgery Mon, off Tues, Wed) and then work from home the other two days, and then I'll be back to work. I also don't have the PTO because I'm saving it for a holiday, and my FMLA doesn't kick back in until October, so I'm on my own. I'm hoping since I have a desk job and I'm able to work from home if I need to I'll be alright for the first two weeks or so.

My husband and I go to conventions twice a year, the second convention of the year is housed in an indoor Water park resort. SO if you stay on property if you're not doing convention stuff you can take time to go to the water park. My husband is 180lbs and I was 284lbs at the time and we wanted to ride the water slides together. I was to big for EVERY SINGLE WATER SLIDE except the ones that had an 8 person raft. They all had weight limits of either 220lbs or 250lbs. He wouldn't go on without me (bless his heart he didn't want me to feel left out) but I felt like I was holding him back. I was blessed enough with that weight that we went to Disneyland together and I was able to walk around all day with no problems or getting exhausted but it was embarrassing knowing that I was holding him back from enjoying himself when we were at the water park just because I was literally to big to ride. It's also why other then Disney we've only been to one amusement park together because I'm always to big for the rides (probably not anymore tho!)
