    Weird post surgery things

I am eating and enjoying salads now with ZERO trouble. I can only eat a few bites because I want my protein, but it's better than nada! I've also added in berries, which is just exciting beyond compare for me!!

    I AM NO LONGER OBESE!!

Good job you!! Your post made me go check the BMI chart and I am now ALSO not obese - just overweight!!! I'll take it!

    Weight loss avg

Super helpful. NOT. As stated above, everyone is different but I think in general the expectation is 2 to 4 pounds per week. But this is an average, too. One week you might not lose anything, the next you might drop 3. One thing I did was STOP weighing myself every day - too frustrating. Now I weigh on Weds. and Sun. only and it's much easier to see the downward trend. Also, if you can exercise, do so! make sure you're getting ALL your water and keeping you calories in the range suggested by your program. And finally, sign up for Bariatric Pal so you can track your intake. That way, if you are having a stall you can review what's going into you to see if that's the issue. It will happen, promise!!!!!

    Disappointed

I came home heavier than I went in. Then in week 2, 12 pounds were gone. Patience, my friend!

    Not losing as fast

I've lost 53 total, but only 33 since surgery on 12/12. I'm a slow loser always, and I am now in a weight that my body really likes, so I'll have to work HARD to get the last 35 off!!!

Coming up with a diet plan

I am 9 weeks out and have lost 53 pounds. I usually get around 1000 cals per day, but keep my carbs to 30 or fewer and fats under 130. I am steadily losing about 2 to 3 pounds per week at this point. I drink plenty of water although some days I don;t make it to 64, I'm always pretty close. I don't think I could get 1400 calories in unless I drank beers! And even then I don't think I could hold that volume. Are you exercising? I am walking most days and do planking and isometrics with a tiny bit of weights. Makes a diff. Good luck to you!

    Onederland!

I made it! In almost exactly 10 weeks! I’m thrilled!
  8. I am 6 weeks out. I am gonna peel a cucumber and de-seed it, peel a tomato and an avocado, cut them up and put a little vinaigrette over it and eat it. WILL I DIE??????????????????

Seems I always push the envelope, but......

And in keeping with my BAD behavior, I am not at 10 weeks yet, but I just ate 2 small pieces of raw cauliflower! I almost cried it was soo good and crunchy!!! I'll just be here waiting to explode..... 😎

    Leave Recovery Time After Surgery

2 weeks was plenty for me. My job is a combo of sitting and racing around like a crazy person!
  11. I am at 800 to 1000 and am 8 weeks out.

    Baby food

Might as well get cat food. BLAH!!!

    1100 calories in a day!!!

I am 7 weeks out now. I think hitting in that one day, as long as it isn't every day at your stage, will be fine in the end. Keep your protein high and your carbs low. BTW, I accidentally found out how many cals are in a chicken drumstick! Thinking I was doing great, then BAM They are hidden everywhere!

    30 second elevator interview

HI! I'm a 52-year-old professional woman working in healthcare. I'm in the middle of obtaining my MPH. I love horses and pretty much anything horse-related. It's a sickness, really, but I've had it all my life and I can't get rid of it! Giddyup!!

    1100 calories in a day!!!

Seems like the only time I lose weight is when I get up to 1100 for a day or two. I can never maintain that but it seems to push the old metabolism in the right direction!

    I'm a bad loser

    It matters a little!!! 🙂

    Weird post surgery things

I still just want a freaking SALAD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crunchy, savory, yummy salad! Other than a tootsie pop at a basketball game, I have not had a sweet since prior to pre-op diet. Oddly, I crave salty/spicy almost entirely. Tried to eat pho....epic fail. couldn't get much at all down the hatch!

    I'm a bad loser

I am in the club of frustrated, slow losers. Interestingly, I am at 207 now, down from 252 pre-surgery, and this is the weight where I always stalled out on regular diets. It's like this must be the place where my body is happy and wants to stay! I had a goal of being in onederland by Feb. 1. Clearly not gonna happen. This plagues my mind as a driven, competitive person. I am doing EVERYTHING according to direction, cals, protein, fluids etc. yet I'm definitely the tortoise, not the hare!!!! I am cleared to exercise now so I guess I'm gonna have to sweat it off although I have some concern as to how to keep my cals high enough when I do. I am trusting that it will all work out!

    What's for dinner?

LVB - what attracted you to Sous Vide? Is it better for us? Does meat taste good that way??? I like the roasty taste it gets in the oven.....
  20. Myhorseisfattoo

    No fresh fruits/veggies, but.....

I will eat pickles, even if their pickled goodness will kill me, because the are LIFE!!!!! But no, seriously, I've never heard of pickled things being carcinogenic. Kimchi? Pickles? Sauerkraut? Gardinieri? Peppers? This is not OK!
  21. Are pickled and fermented things OK? Pickles, kimchi, etc are my faves! I wanna eat them REAL bad! What say ye???
  22. Myhorseisfattoo

    Is my incision infected?

    Nope.
  23. Myhorseisfattoo

    Does this look infected?

Does not look infected to me. It's dry, no drainage. It's red only at the site.
  24. Myhorseisfattoo

    Marco, ,

POLO! My nutritionist refuses to give me hard data about carb intake, so I limit my net carbs to 70 or fewer. I rarely reach that, though.

    shocking the system

Mousie - I see your point, but I didn't get fat on sweets or bad foods. I got fat for failing to control my portions af really good food and drinking too much wine! I'm probs not the only one in this boat! Back when I used to diet, I always seemed to drop a smidge more weight when I shook things up a bit. These days though, it isn't just about losing, it IS about changing the lifestyle and the mindset and I do not want to deviate from this for a pound or 2!
