Heazza got a reaction from Hannah83 in Rny vs sleeve
Hey everyone! This is my 1st post here. I have just started my journey for Wls. I was originally going to do the lap band but after some research I have seen and heard nothing but horror stories about it. So I have decided to nix that and go with another surgery. My question for all of you is which do you think is better? The sleeve or the RNY? Why did you choose the surgery you chose? If you had to choose again would you still pick the same thing? How has the recovery from surgery been? Any advice for this newbie?

Hiya Penelope, love your name! Welcome to Bariatric Pal, we 💘 love new people, if you have Any questions please ask. I'm from from the other side of the Weight loss family, I had an RNY bypass on September 5th, but I have oodles of Sleeve friends on here so know a lot about that process as well. And we would love to help you along on your journey. As an example , a while back I was having a problem, sure I was singled out to have it and there was no hope for me Shared it on here, 4 people had encountered the same thing and had a easy way to solve it. I'm an inch taller, started out at 355 and am down to 293 , didn't think I would get under 300 but I did it! And I give credit to my surgery, because I couldn't drop my weight by any simple diet, and I have tested a mind-boggling amount of them in my time.7 weeks after surgery, I can see differences in my body, my waist, my legs, my rump and even my belly. And I want this to continue, and I believe with this new tool it will! Join me on this journey, things are always happier with friends!😛🌈😛

    Hey Sodoe,
I felt the same immediately post op, where your stomach is swollen from surgery and also used to the smaller quantities from the pre-op diet, liquids can be filling at first. Did your surgeon put any Fluid in the band during surgery? My surgeon didn't and a lot don't - so having the band alone can literally do nothing in regards to restriction after healing.
It is completely normal to feel like this and have no weight loss in the beginning as it takes a while to get you to that "sweet spot" where you have the perfect amount of fluid in the band, and everyone is completely different. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago (2ml) and felt no restriction, so no weight loss. I went back yesterday for another fill so I am now on 4mls, and I still feel like I have no restriction. It just takes time and lots of fills and you will get to where you want to be.
Just sit tight, you'll get there. I know its frustrating because we just want to lose the weight, but it will come eventually!
