I had my sleeve surgery on 10/10/18. The first couple of days sucked (nausea and vomiting) but never really had pain. I never took 1 pain pill once I got home (though I did stay 2 nights due to vomiting). Some people get bad gas pains but they go away with walking. I feel a MILLION times better and more energetic that before the surgery. Good luck and “try” to relax!! 👍

Sounds exactly how I was feeling at that point (except I was vomiting/having dry heaves too). I assure you - it’s gets better fast!! By day 3 no more vomiting. By day 4 no more heartburn (at one point I thought I was having a heart attack) and by the end of the first week I was tired but feeling overall pretty good! And every day I felt a little better than the day before. Good luck!! 👍

I will check out that app! I tried fitness pal but I just kept forgetting to log. I am finding myself repeating lots of meals too, I think it may be why the hunger especially in the evening is so sucky. Way to go though, 38 lbs is no mean feat! I lost 12 the first month but in the last couple of weeks I went back up 2, every pound seems to be a fight before the surgery.

    I started this journey @ 470lbs. I'm 5 1/2 months post-op and today I weighed in at 369lbs!
I'd like to encourage all the pre-op/recent surgery folks. Stick with it...Follow the steps. It's not easy but it's more than worth it.
Good luck and God bless us all on this journey!

Holy crap and they still did surgery!?! I'd be in that surgeon's office every day until they told me specifically what I do to get better AFTER they operated on me with an existing collapsed lung! I'd want pulmonary therapy, drugs, whatevs to make sure I didn't get pneumonia!

You're welcome. I think we all go through a bit of panic or buyers remorse in the first days/weeks post-op and it sure doesn't help if you've had any complications. This one is pretty easily treated. Stay active, do your incentive spirometer and it will pass.

Pity him. To be someone like that, who doesn't have the social skills to understand that's a stupid thing to say - or worse, a person with a gaping chasm where their soul's meant to be and who looks for moments to slide in a snide remark and get that faint thrill of superiority for just one second.
People like that deserve nothing but pity. And every time you see him from now on, you don't need to feel angry or sad or embarrassed, just pity him in a remote kind of way - because he's like that inside ALL THE TIME. No amount of surgery's going to make that go away. And if he ever takes the chance to say something like that to you again, just pity him harder. Directly to his face, non-responsively, because that will utterly ruin his snide little high. DISMISS him.

I just got back from a 5 night stay at an all-inclusive resort in Riviera Maya. I weighed myself before I left and when I got home and I lost 1 1/2 lbs! I didn’t think I could ever do that on vacation! I’m so glad I had this surgery!! ❤️

when I was where you are, I'd lost 28 lbs (16 lbs the first month,12 lbs the second). I was a slow loser the whole time, but I ended up losing over 200 lbs. Everyone's rate of weight loss is different depending on so many factors (age, gender, starting BMI, metabolic rate, etc). Your commitment to your program is going to have a MUCH greater impact on your eventual success than your rate of weight loss will, though. So just stick to your program, follow the rules, and the weight will come off, either fast or slow.

99% of the people I work with are men so questions about weight loss are rare, but when I do get the question I say, "Not that it's ANY of your business, but I had to have intestinal surgery to correct a serious medical issue. I'm better now." If they press for more information, I literally tell them that I'm not discussing it with them since it's a private medical issue and go about my day.

Thanks everyone. It's a weird thing. Intellectually I feel no shame for WLS. It was an excellent decision and I should have done it a long time ago. I would never judge anyone else for doing it. Yet, part of me does feel embarrassed that I couldn't do it without intervention. food is an addiction for me and I don't want to discuss something that private with others. Would an alcoholic or drug addict be expected to casually discuss their issues with others?
