Going out to eat for the first time pos-op.
Georgetown replied to Catherine Wible's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is exciting to eat out the first time but also scary. I always check the menus out online before I go so I know there is something I can eat. I take all meals home and my husband likes it because he gets to take my leftovers for lunch. Just eat slow and chew well and mostly just enjoy! -
Sounds like everyone is doing well for the most part! We are all on our own journeys and its hard not to compare. I will be 6 months post op on April 16. Hard to believe! I haven't had blood work done yet but will for my next apt so I don't know what those numbers will say, however, what I can say is I have lost almost 70 pounds, 53 since surgery, and I have lost a lot of inches. My hair started to fall out about a month ago and I added the biotin, which I think is starting to help. I've been at the same weight for the past two months. It's frustrating but I did weigh myself this morning and lost about 3 pounds so I am happy to have left the 220's behind! My old, small clothes, fit me again, which I am thrilled about! My husband and I recently went to Mexico to an all-inclusive resort and I was proud of how I was able to not overindulge like I would have in the past. I did indulge a little but I came home the same weight that I left! I saw a picture of myself and couldn't believe it was me! I've had really bad back/hip pain for the past few months which has really stopped me from exercising the way I need to. I am still exercising, just not enough to make the weight come off. I think my body is just getting used to this new way of living. I am going for acupuncture tomorrow, and I am really hoping it will help with the pain! Everyone keep up the good work! Slow and steady wins the race!

I’ll be 5 months post op on October 16. I can’t believe how fast it’s gone by. Overall I’m really happy with my weight loss, 65 pounds! I’m fitting into much smaller clothes and feeling so much better, physically! I was hoping to not kiss my hair but it just recently started. It’s scary and I’m thankful I have thick hair! This past month the scale hasn’t moved much! I’m trying not to get to upset and remember how far I’ve come, but man it sucks to not see it move! Overall, I feel great and I’m soooo happy that I had this surgery done! I hope all my fellow October peeps are doing well too!

Is your discomfort when you eat?
-
The constipation is real! I try to eat three prunes a day and that seems to help. When it gets really bad I use milk of magnesia. I’m sorry to hear about the nausea! Hard to eat when you feel sick!

Who's 4 months post op? I want stats!

Hi there. I had my surgery October 16 so just past the 4 month mark. I was 285 when I started my pre op diet, 272 the day of surgery and today I weigh 224 pounds! 61 pounds gone forever! I love getting rid of all my big clothes. I was in a size 20 jeans prior to surgery and now I fit into size 16 and can fit in size xl tops! I’ve also lost 26 inches! To say I feel amazing is an understatement! I’m so happy I decided to have this surgery! -
Are you taking anything for heartburn? And yes, the burping is normal!
-
Wow that’s fantastic!!!! You look amazing!!!!
-
Woohoo!!!!!

I love them! My favorite is the almond coconut! They are a little higher in carbs than I’d like but they taste like such a yummy treat!
-
Wow!!! You both look fantastic!

Maybe only put half a chicken breast in your plate so you’re not tempted to eat the whole thing? Once you’ve eaten half get up and leave the table.

Awesome!!!!!!!

Just wondering if anyone out there chose to have plastic surgery to remove excess skin after surgery. I still have a way to go with my weight loss but I have a lot of excess skin on my arms that really bothers me! Thinking about it in the future.

Horrible taste in my mouth
Georgetown replied to Faith2Faith's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Ugh! I had that terrible taste too. My doc gave me a prescription for yeast on my tongue. She also said to try to drink more water, I know easier said than done right now. I sucked on a lot of sugar free mints! -
First of all wow! You’ve got a lot going on but first and foremost you need to take care of yourself! I know that’s hard when your children are struggling but try to remember that the food is only a very temporary “fix” for your problem. You have very little control over what’s happening with your kids but you have full control over what you put in your mouth. I’m not sure what stage you’re in but try to have healthy snacks available to you so you can just grab a good choice. I hope this helps a little I wish you the best of luck with everything!!!!

I’m surprised both professionals told you to weigh yourself everyday. My doc told me to only weigh myself once a week. Everyone’s weight fluctuates. Try doing it only once a week. Good luck!

Awesome!!!! Keep up the great work!

I always carry a bag of almonds with me as long as I only take a small handful. I can’t eat to many and I sometimes can feel them going down, otherwise I’ve done ok with them. I didn’t start eating then till about 2 months post op.

Sometimes the scale keeps you on track! Were staying at Unico 20 87 in the Maya Riveria. I can’t wait!
