  1. DRH, congratulation! I am so proud of you. Thanks for the daily inspiration. Your work buddy, lynlynkr:lol:
  2. :thumbs_up:Thanks for the information on the apnea process, that was insightful. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. I will be rewired on Sunday with the apnea mask. this is going to be tricky since I am clostrophobic.
  3. I am so inspired by all the posting on this site. It is great to know we are in the same boat in the same location. Yesterday was a busy "getting clearance" day! I went to Mid Ohio Pulmonary (10:45 AM) for my first sleep apnea consult with the doctor. He want to do this big long drawn out ordeal. I told him I have a personal time line and would like to have my surgery in June and his plan was holding me back. I explained I turn 50 in June and it seems like a new starting point for me. He said "Can you come back tonight" Now that's what I'm talkin 'bout! (4:00pm) Went to Sara Krieger fr my Psych evaluation - since she didn't keep me - I guess I passes! I didn't get out of there until 6:30 pm. Not enough time to get back home to get my stuff, so off to Walmart for PJ and toothbrush. 730pm arrive at the sleep lab. What an experience. I was wired! Got tangled during the night. Up at 6:00am showered and directl to work!!!! I will probably have to go back on Sunday night for the second go round. All I have after that is the one on one and preop nutrition sessions and my appointment with Dr. Choban. She should have all of the clearance information back by our appointment date. Do you suppose she will give me a surgery dat then???? Or is there another waiting phase after all this? I too wonder what it will be like to say a final farewell to some old friends. (favorite foods) But I am excited at the same time. Thanks for sharing your experiences, it really helps.
  4. OK, I have appointments scheduled 5-7-08 to 5-29-08). Psych eval, nutrition one on one and surgical nutition sleep study and finally Dr. Choban I am self pay so no insurance issue (less loops! more cash!) I am hopful for a June sugery date (turn 50 June 8th) What a great birthday present. How much time off work do all of you take:teeth_smile:? I have a great pain tolerance.
  5. That time line sounds about right. On Monday, I will schedule my appt. with Dr. Choban and get my appt. set with the Psych., nutitionist, and the sleep study. It sounds like what you are saying the sleep study takes the longest to get through. Like everyone, I am excited to get started. I know this sounds stupid too, but I am right at 35 BMI, I am afraid if I loss any weight now (before I see any of the doctors) they might turn me away. Do they do an offical weigh-in? Since I am in a very motivated frame of mind, I could try to loss some now. I think this is really the most helpful Thread, since we are in the same region. Lynn:cool:
  6. I received a voice message from Charlene today asking to schedule my appointment with Dr. Choban. I have not had my psych, nutition or sleep study yet. Best guess, how long do you think it will be for a surgery date? I am self pay
  7. :tt2:Age 49 and 10 months! BMI 35. Self payer. Excited to get it done and anxious too.
  8. Hi, I will be 50 in June! Yikes how did that happen. I haven't had my surgery yet, but I am getting close. I have gone to the first group session, I have be approved as a canidate, and have been contacted for my appointment with the surgeon. I think it is easier to get scheduled to see the Pope! I still have to have a pysh. nutrition, and sleep study. I am self pay so I don't have towait for the insurance stuff. Any guess on how long it will be til the surgery????? I have been reading everything I can about the personal experiences of others. I also have a friend at work (I'm a nurse) who was Banded 4 weeks ago. She as lost 16 pounds. Tell me more, Lynda
  9. I have Aetna insurance. I am a nurse and the insurance is through the hospital. I have a co worker who just got banded 3 weeks ago witht ehsame insurance, she was covered due to high BP, sleep Apnea. It took her a year to jump through the hoops. What I know about self pay is just that ; You pay for everything. Doctors bills anesthesia, hospital bills. However, would your insurance pay if you had complications, I guess that woud depend on the insurance and the complication.
  10. This boat is getting crowded. I have the same situation, although I am older than you two. I am 50 years old, with a BMI of 38 and the only health issue is degenerative disc; L4-L5. I will be footing the bill for this journey as well.
