  1. Doctors should not bill for fluoro. Fluoro is typically done in radiology as far as what I was told unless they have the fluoro machine.
  2. Not everything is always cut and dry. I have to say I had a great experience with Dr Teng. If I would have read this blog before surgery I would not have gone with him which is probably the attack on his character. If you look on the medical board he has a clean record. I have checked into his credentials and he is flawless. I'm only saddened to hear of the experience you had was not more favorable.
  3. I am new to the site. How was Dr Soong? Have you been scheduled for surgery?
  4. Dr Teng is the best doctor I have met. Dr Berelowitz and Dr Miranda referred him to me. I originally went to surgical weight control and thought I was a number. I went to another doctor off of Durango. It was fancy, but he told me he only had done 5 lap bands in his career. Look into the entire program. It could save your own life.
  5. I thought the best before, and after care has been with Dr Teng. According to O.R. nurse that has worked with Dr Teng for 8 years is that he is so very meticulous. He hasn't had a death or post surgical infections or slippage. Dr Teng attends all meetings and does his own adjustments.
  6. I believe Dr Soong is only in the office on Mondays. The rest of the week is staffed with PA's in the office. I never was Ever able to meet up with Dr Atkinson nor would the fills be done by him as well.
  7. I took your guys advice. I attended Dr. Teng's seminar. It was very informative and well put together. He seems to really care about his patients. Pretty impressive resume of this physician. Does anyone know whether this doctor utilizes physicians assistance in his program. I know other programs in town uses P.A. and you never get to see the doctor only at the time of surgery.
  8. I have Tricare. The only qualification you have to have is that your BMI is at a 41 or more. Please make sure you select the correct physician in town. There is a bariatric physician in town off of Durango and 215 who has only done 5 lap bands. I was in the office and he was asking another physician over the telephone of how to do lap band adjustments. Go to the support group meetings and talk to other patients.
  9. I had my surgery in March 2009. I was informed by the doctors office in Las Vegas that the insurance would only pay for the surgery and not for the fills. On average, fills are costing anywhere from $250-450/fill. It really depends on the insurance and how much they are willing to pay, if at all. I am pretty lucky that Dr. Teng's office was informative and was able to provide me with the information beforehand. Also, make sure the doctors offices uses the actual needles that made your lap band. Some doctors offices do not use the correct needles.
  10. I went to their program and I would not recommend their program. You see the physicians assistant after surgery. You rarely get to see the doctor. And the support staff is very disorganized. I instead went with Dr Teng. He has not lost a patient , no post surgical infections and no slippage. I have done my research. There's also another doctor off of Durango that is not very knowledgeable. He was calling another doctor to ask how to adjust a band. I finally asked him how many surgeries he has done--only 5 total. Please do your research and pick the best doctor that is comprehensive.

I want to let everyone know about a surgeon in las Vegas--Dr. Teng, who is caring and knowledgeable. He was trained at Cedars in Los Angeles. I am having my surgery done in 1 week and very excited. His staff is wonderful. They are worth every penny.
