I've gained weight because I am working my butt off learning a new job and I don't have the natural movement of going out or to an office like I did before. Also, my father died, some of my friends are sick, and sometimes all I feel like doing in the evening is sitting around feeling like crud and eating Skinny Cow ice cream. I'm back on plan, but I judge no one for their weight or what they eat EVER!

The only thing I was told not to ingest was carbonated drinks. Like my dietician, I don't believe in good and bad foods. More like foods that help you achieve your goals and those that do the opposite.

My doctor and I talked about the lowest weight I had maintained when dieting and exercising and NOT taking appetite suppressants as an adult and came up with 175. That's a 27 BMI, I'm 5'6.5". So that's pretty square in the middle of overweight. When I hit it I thought I could lose more and set a stretch goal of 150.
I also think BMIs are not appropriate for individuals, they were designed to measure populations. And muscle weighs more than fat. So I don't really care about BMI much.
I DO care about fitting into my current clothes (or smaller), being able to run and exercise generally, and feeling good.

You won't be able to lift anything heavier than 15 pounds for the six weeks so if you don't have children or pets that need to be lifted, I think you'll be fine. Good luck!

@Conniebonds , sorry you feel badly. Your reaction, pain and regret, is incredibly common but most people grow to love their WLS. Good luck and feel better soon.

There are two tests, the long q-tip that most people think is uncomfortable or a shorter one that people can do themselves under supervision that most people think is pain free.

I would ask your surgeon's office manager to help with the insurance appeal. They are motivated to help you get it done and know how to code things for approval.

We're not far from the same size, but I've never had that issue. I concur with the suggestion of talking to a counselor. Most people at restaurants are just concerned with eating their food and aren't looking at or judging you.

Are you looking at Built Bars? I do like them (I have a sleeve) but I make sure to stick to the 110 calorie bars and just have them occasionally. They may make some people dump.

You can't spot reduce. The only way to make one area of your body smaller is by losing weight or surgery. Toning that area will help it look firmer. If you can't breathe comfortably in what you wear to workout, you won't be able to work out as hard.

Weight loss really increases your fertility. Congratulations! Your doctor can help you work out a nutrition plan to support your goals and your baby's.

1 hour ago, LovingmeForever said:I had my sleeve in June, 2012 and I haven’t had any. On my day of surgery I was 230 pounds and I lost 100 pounds a year later and I do have to said that last year I gained about 40 pounds, however I went back and addressed my eating habits and I am back to 125 now.
Congratulations, that's inspiring.

Do you track your calories? That is what helps me the most, just to "stay in the game" and make sure I'm not eating too much.
My back is messed up. When I started my exercise was physical therapy. Now I do Pilates. It doesn't burn many calories, but it does help you build long, lean muscle.

I've had the sleeve for almost two years and haven't had any heartburn or GERD. If I had had GERD, I would have had the bypass initially. I've been very happy with the sleeve. It's a pretty personal choice based on preference.

Just another post that I could swallow my medications fine the day after surgery. It helps to use a thick liquid, like milk, Protein Shake, or Tomato juice to wash them down.
-
Can you pick out some things you can tolerate now, like Protein Shakes and/or powder and either bring them or mail them to your destination?
-
That sounds awful. I'm sorry it happened to you.

For some reason I have been craving Peanut Butter and I'm looking for lower calorie alternatives. So far I have found Peanut Butter Built Bars (protein/candy bars) at 170 calories and Julian Bakery ProGranola Peanut Butter Cluster at 110 calories for half a cup.
Any other suggestions?

Why are people gaining weight during COVID?
"The Covid-19 pandemic has likely exacerbated the problem for many teenagers whose daily routines have been disrupted and who now find themselves at home all day with lots of food being hoarded in kitchens and pantries, Dr. Nagata said in an interview. “We’re seeing more patients and referrals for eating disorders and their complications,” he said."
