  1. Gastric Sleeve. The incision is inside my navel so you can't see it. My surgeon told me she did it on lower BMI patients, (like 35). I was 40 and talked her into giving it a try. I posted a picture before if you want to see. Most people's scars are tiny and not noticeable, and it would have been fine if she had done it the regular way.
  2. When I went back to work, protein shake in hand, I told people I was on a medically supervised diet. Not a lie, either. Now that they've seen my counting calories for 16 months, I think they bought it. I'm becoming much less concerned about people finding out. I may even volunteer to talk to people thinking about it through my surgeon's office as they have asked me to consider.

    Sharp pains

Please call the doctor. It's not bothering them and I'm concerned for you.

    Liquid poo after surgery?

My friend had it after her sleeve so I had even bought some bed pads. Thankfully I didn't need them. Unless you get dehydrated or it goes on for more than a few days, I think it's pretty normal.
  5. They offered it to me in Massachusetts but I wanted the single incision so it wasn't an option.
  6. I've seen many women posting here upset that they got pregnant right after their surgery, like 6-7 months after. IMHO, think you should use birth control for a year after surgery as doctors recommend. That was you can lose as much weight as you can the first year without having to worry about getting in the nutrients necessary while you are pregnant. I definitely think it will improve your fertility. My friend just had a surprise pregnancy and a miscarriage at 50. Whether you can get pregnant at your age with your own egg really depends on the person. Bottom line; pregnancy soon after surgery is possible. Please use birth control.

    Protein Bar?

I also use them as a meal replacement when traveling sometimes. They have too many calories for a snack except for Quest Bars. They have 200 calories and after you eat half of one you feel like you ate a brick. They are free at my office so I have a half once in a while. My husband buys Clif Bars and Kind Bars which are good but have so many calories. A Clif bar is like 260. Sorry, I don't remember when I started but Quest bars are really dense, and if you microwave them for 5 seconds they get soft. I think I tried them during soft foods.

    Effect on families

Seek therapy for yourself. This is not an appropriate place for you to post things like this.

    Dehydrated?

Your pee may be darker yellow is one sign. How much water have you had today? I think calling your surgeon is probably a good idea. Good luck!

    Pudding okay to eat

Watch the quantity. I went for a 4 oz. little cup of jello with a 2 oz. stomach. One of the only times I barfed. I have a sleeve though.

    lean muscle mass building

    ALSO... Pilates!
  12. I've passed out a couple of times in one morning about six months ago, and I seem to be most light-headed in the morning. I have a grab bar in my shower now. Scary. On to pooping... I take a Colace and eat three prunes every morning. If I haven't gone for 3 days I take Miralax. This + a lot of water is working really well for me.
  13. I'm a year and four months out with my sleeve and it's really slow. I've lost 5 lbs. in the past 90 days. But as long as it slowly moves in the right direction, I'm happy. I feel great!
  14. I know a lot of people who have had both. The sleeve seemed less intrusive to me. I didn't want vitamin malabsorption issues. My surgeon, who I really respect, recommends the sleeve to people like me who have never had GERD issues and don't have more than about 100 lbs. to lose. It's what I wanted and I'm 100% happy with the decision for me. I completely respect everyone's personal decisions as valid for them and wish everyone success.
  15. This has been my strategy for a couple of reasons. The other important one being I need a plan I can stay on forever. Good job!

    SLEEVE regret

And I thought putting down other people's choice of surgery was against the rules, no?

    SLEEVE regret

I have never regretted the sleeve for a second. From pumping the pain meds, to changing my diet, to stalls. It’s all good. I would only get a revision if I got GERD, and no sign of it 14 months out.
  18. I like the Carb Nada pasta they sell on here. I eat a serving maybe once a week. Sashimi will solve all your sushi issues. YUM
  19. BTW the important question to ask the surgeon is if they will perform the operation in its entirety. I was not open to being a teaching case with this, though I did let students check out the results during rounds.
  20. Ha! I’m in sales too. SaaS enterprise proctoring software to universities. What are you slinging?
  21. @CapyCapybara, I'm sorry! It can be for sure.
  22. This is definitely NOT a medical recommendation. I take Cyclobenzaprine for my degenerative disk disease and a friend just recommended Tart Cherry supplements for inflammation. I've heard Cyclobenzaprine is not great for bariatric patients so I'm checking with my surgeon about that. I'll let you know how the Tart Cherry works and if I notice any improvement. Cherry juice is supposed to work as well, but has a lot of empty calories.
  23. @CapyCapybara, can I ask you a question? Feel free to answer or not. When's the last time you lost 30 lbs. so quickly? I found comparing myself to others, especially people with higher starting weights or men (because they have more muscle mass) to be not helpful.
  24. Would you please stop policing the discussion? It's incredibly annoying.
