    Post Op Bra Size

I went from a 44D to a 38DD. My bras are getting too big again. I just buy, wash, and rotate a couple to save money.
  2. I had never heard of it either. This is from a Mexican surgical center. The NIH also has a study with 12-year outcomes. Congratulations, OP!
  3. Word to the wise, movie theater popcorn is a slider food. I was at the movies with my husband and suddenly I was REALLY HUNGRY and asked him to get us popcorn and ate... maybe four cups? I was shocked I could eat that much. So, I'm really full now and I won't be doing that again.

    Can I eat this

Congratulations! I don't know what your plan recommends, but I grabbed this from the University of Pittsburg Medical Center website. Suggested Foods Ideas for Pureed Diet After Bariatric Surgery Protein Sources Yogurt (plain or sugar-free, low or nonfat, blended without fruit chunks) Strained cream soups (celery, potato, mushroom, or chicken made with skim milk) Skim milk with ½ scoop protein powder Protein supplements added to food or water for extra protein Mashed cottage cheese (low or nonfat, small curd) Ricotta cheese (low or nonfat) Scrambled eggs or egg substitute Pureed beef, chicken, or turkey Baby food meats White fish (cod, haddock, tilapia, orange roughy) mashed with a fork Canned chicken breast, mashed and moist Canned tuna fish in water, mashed Grains/starches Cream of wheat or cream of rice Farina Grits Baby oatmeal Mashed potatoes/sweet potatoes Pureed winter squash Fruits Diluted, 100% fruit juices (apple, grape, cranberry) Light juices sweetened with non-nutritive sweetener Applesauce Mashed bananas or mashed canned fruits in own juices Pureed peaches, apricots, pears, pineapples, melons Vegetables Tomato juice Diet V-8 Splash® or V-8 Juice® Pureed spinach, carrots, summer squash or green beans Avoid pureed broccoli, cauliflower, and other fibrous vegetables at this stage Sample Menu for Phase 2B: Pureed Diet After Bariatric Surgery Eat the protein portion of your meal first, and don't forget your liquids between meals (about 30 minutes after each meal). Breakfast Protein: 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup scrambled eggs or egg substitute Starch: 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup cream of wheat Lunch Protein: 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup mashed low fat cottage cheese Fruit: 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup pureed peaches in own juices Dinner Protein: 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup baked skinless chicken breast (pureed) or mashed canned chicken breast Vegetable: 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup pureed carrots Liquid meal- If you're having a liquid meal replacement, soup, or high protein shake: Drink 4 ounces (1/2 cup) over 20 to 30 minutes Try adding mashed, canned chicken or tuna to soup to increase protein content Blend if needed Pureed food should be the consistency of baby food, “spoon thick.” Cut food into small pieces and place in blender or food processor Add liquid (broth, low-calorie gravy or skim milk) Puree until smooth Season food to taste

What to do When You Can't Eat

See if there is a time limit. I run VERY slowly and it takes me about 40 minutes to run a 5K. If there's no time limit, you can probably walk and run it in that time.
  6. Forgive yourself and get back on plan. (hugs)
  7. I would go to the ER. If you don't have insurance for that, I would call your surgeon asap. I hope it's nothing serious, but I'm worried about you!

    Hurt

I got the sleeve. Pain (and pain meds) for a few days. I didn't get gas pain. After the operation healed (maybe three weeks?) no pain or weird stomach feelings except the restriction; I could only have 2 oz. at once at first.

    No Nsaids..

NSAIDs aren't recommended after a sleeve or bypass by most doctors. I have a bad back and I take Tramadol when I have to. Losing 87 pounds has helped a lot, but it was not a cure-all for my back pain.
  10. I wasn't given calorie parameters, just amount parameters, which is probably why I ate more calories than a lot of people. I look at this like a diet (or a new lifestyle, if you prefer). The surgery just makes it much easier for me to calorie count and stay below my personal upper limit. If you avoid slider foods that slide right through your restriction and don't drink before, during, or after meals, you should feel more full. There are some foods that I just can't have around or I would eat too much of them. Good luck!

    I’m not “fat enough”

My husband was not supportive until I brought him to some pre-surgery meetings and he got that it was about my health. I didn't tell my mother until a year after and she still says inappropriate things about it that I try to ignore. I don't live near her.

    Regrets?

No regrets at all. It wasn't all easy, but it wasn't all that hard either. I've not had any complications from the surgery and my lifestyle is a lot better.

What to do When You Can't Eat

    10/15/18! Good luck.

What to do When You Can't Eat

Pilates and running up large credit card bills buying cute smaller clothes. When you can drink protein drinks and have popsicles, soft food will come soon. Before you know it, you'll probably be able to eat a lot of the things you like, just in different preparations and smaller portions. Your taste for unhealthy food may change too.

    Non Scale Victories

I finally went up to my attic and took everything plus-sized and either donated it or mailed it off to my friend who's that size. Because I'm a size 12/14 (I have big hips) and I'm not going back to being that heavy again.

    Help someone????

Oh, you've already lost 42 lbs? Sorry, I didn't see this when I posted and you didn't mention it. Good job.

    Help someone????

Please call your surgeon. It may be trauma from your surgery or it may be something else. Most of us started losing right away.
  18. I've lost 85 lbs. I have degenerative disc disease and arthritis in my back. I did nine months of physical therapy right after my surgery. Now I am doing pilates to strengthen my core. While I'm not pain free, I am off Oxy and doing things like sitting through a movie or ball game in a crappy seat with much less pain.
  19. Good for you! I lost about 80 lbs. in 2012 on Phentermine and was shocked by how fatphobic and mean a couple of relatives were, basically implying that I had looked like cr*p before I lost it. I've dropped a few of them, and I've also stopped being "the bank" for relatives who only talked to me to let me know when their kids have gift-giving events. There's never a bad day to refuse to be a doormat.

    Forced to do Bypass

Wow, that's horrible about the cancer scare. I'm so sorry to hear it. I think you'll likely have a lot of success with the bypass because you did with the sleeve.
  21. I think my surgeon is extra careful. Plus all the Calcium might keep me from breaking a hip later.
  22. I have a sleeve and this is my prescribed regimen. Now that I eat a balanced diet and am 15 months out, this seems excessive and like the One A Day Women’s Vitamin should be enough. I'm going to ask about it. Morning: • One A Day Women’s Vitamin • Vitamin D 2,000 • Vitamin B12 500 mcg • Vitron C Iron • Viactive Calcium with Lunch • Viactive Calcium with Dinner • Viactive Calcium at Bedtime
  23. I'm 49 and I've never worn one before... LOL Seems unlikely.
