  1. Ok - I got as far as creating the banner. I have cut and pasted myself silly. Which box do you cut and paste? Do you cut the whole thing? Where do you put it? help...I want a banner:sad:
  2. Thanks for getting this poll together.
  3. I have no idea how to create a poll here. Does any one know how to?
  4. I think it is time to put all the names on the poll and we have up until July 31 to pick and design one. What do you guys think?
  5. For those who are banded by Dr. Enochs, what size band does he use? I just had my results visit and I forgot to ask him about the band size.
  6. I like August All-Stars and I like the glittery star idea.
  7. I have allowed myself the "farewell" tour of not so good food - but only once a week and limit to one meal. This weekend I am spending my $50 gift card from the Outback Steakhouse:drool: I have it since Christmas and I know I will not use it after being banded. I have lost a little of weigh by myself before the band and I don't want to gain anything back.
  8. Please send me the link...I would love to join!!
  9. My BCBS policy did not cover BMI's 50 and over. I dieted like hell before my 1st appt with the surgeon and came in at 49. I suggest you try find your benefits on-line and read the qualifications and requirements. I did not have to do the 6 month diet. I just had to provide the 5 year weight history. Not all BCBS are the same.:wink2:
  10. Anne, Only you can make the choice to be banded. There are a lot of advantages to losing weight and keeping it off. I am sure most of us here are capable of losing the weight but the real struggle is keeping it off. I have high hopes that the band will help me lose and keep the weight off. I wish you luck!
  11. My name is Claudine. I live in a very small town outside of Raleigh, NC (but aI did group in NYC - Queens). I am married to a wonderful man for almost 7 years. I have a 3 year old little girl who is the light of my life. I work in the International logistics field. My weight has always been an issue with me for as long as I can remember. I can't wait to be a BIG loser
  12. I am also from the south, North Carolina, and in my family it is all about the food. I tell my Grandmother that I am coming over for a visit and the first thing out her mouth is "What am I going to cook for you?" I have never had an Holiday, Birthday or special event without food being the main topic. My family thinks I am fine the way I am because I am a mirror image of all the women in my family. I am determined that I don't want to mirror the joint or health issues they have. I also have a daughter and I want to break the cycle of food driven events. We Celebrate holdiays doing anything other then eating. When the weight is coming off I will just tell people that I eat a lot less and excercise a lot more. Which is true.
  13. I saw Lisa at her Wake Forest office. She was great and I really liked her since she had WLS herself she can identify with her clients. I wish you look in getting everything you need done.
  14. My doctor does not require a pre op diet. Only clear liquids the day before and nothing red or purple.
  15. I am going to start off by saying I am no expert but I have lost a little weight while waiting to be banded. Here are some tips that have helped me moved the scale 1- limit carbs. I don't have a specific target, but I don't eat bread, rice or Pasta. I eat whole wheat small tortillias in the South Beach sandwich kits. 2. limit sugar. I don't eat any junk nor do I eat fruit (I know that is not so healthy, but it has helped me) 3. drink plenty of Water 3. Move everyday. I workout at Curves 4 times a week. 3 times a week I walk 2 miles 4. I think this is the most important step - track what you are eating. I use the Daily Plate.com. It has belp me understand what sodium can do and how much Protein I am getting. I also try stay around the 1200 calorie range. Sometimes I do indulge in wine - but I make up for it the next couple of days but limiting my calories. I know you are frustrated - but hopefully you will discover what will work for you and the scale will start moving.
  16. I had to have an intial evualution and then a results visit. She also would like her patients to be enrolled in anf aftere care program. Everyone is different. I did click with her and I did enroll in the after care program. I am sure there will be a lot of feelings as you go though this process. I have never known my adult self as a thin person. I have always been heavy for as long as I can remember. I have BCBS of NC and they were a breeze - approved in just a couple of days. I see Dr Enochs on July 10th for my pre-op testing results visit. I am so ready to start this process. What about you?
  17. You might want to look into transfer behavior. Usually people who where food addicts make take up something else once they lose weight. Some shop, some gamble and she might be turning to sex. I am sure she feels very good about the way she looks and is doing things she couldn't do when she was heavier. she still needs tobe careful. Just let her know that you care about her and she need to be careful.
  18. Kgranite - I have a date - Aug 1st. I am so exited and nervous all at the same time. It only took BCBS of NC 3 days to approve. I have no pre-op diet so to speak of. I have to have a clear liquid diet on July 31 and nothing after midnight.
  19. Don't laugh  I had a boca burger for the 4th. I am not banded yet but I am eating a healthier diet since making the decision to get banded. I have cut down on carbs and sugar. It has been hard but the scale is moving in the right direction.
  20. I have insomnia and it was not even an issue for me. Do you take anything?
  21. I also will be banded by Dr. Enochs on Aug 1st. My Insurance was submitted last friday and I was approved on Wednesday. I go over my lab results, EKG etc on July 10. I was only told clear liquids that day before and they can't be red or purple. I can't wait to be banded.
  22. I lost 3 more pounds this week all by myself and I got my insurance apporval and band date. August 1st. I got to the beach on July 25-27 for one last celebration. I can't wait!! I have been walking on the weekends and working at Curves Mon-Thur and finally it has paid off. I have been watching my portions and sugar and carb intake. I went to Mexican yesterday for lunch only only had a few chips and ordered the chicken Faijitas. I ate only the chicken and veggies. Very proud of myself that I didn't order cheese dip and slather myself in sour cream and guacolmole. I have a $50 gift card from the Outback that I have been holding onto since Christmas and I guess now I have to use it before my big day. Happy 4th!!
