  1. Happy May Day #2

    • Did my pushups today, did an extra one because I was so proud I could do 5!🤣
    • Make some art. Mmmmm, on that one. I am definitely challenged in that area. I have some leftover Easter dye. Maybe I'll dye some eggs and eat them. Gotta get that Protein in, right!!

  2. May 1st.

    SW- 148.2

GW- ? - Trying for a 5lb wt. loss this month. I like to aim low, then if I lose more, yea!

Goals- Increase jogging to 1-1/2 miles. Increase strength training to 3x per week for 30 minutes.

I plan to go outside at lunch break today.

Good luck everyone with our new challenge.

Okay so I love the idea of a goal board, but will have to create in May. Just zero time this week to make that happen.
However, speaking of goals, my goal for this April challenge was to come in at under 200 pounds, and today I barely squeaked in.

Honestly I didn’t think I would make it, but between Friday and this morning, 2 pounds magically fell off.

Love that quote at the bottom.

    • #30- I don't necessarily have a goal board, I have goal post it notes stuck on my doors.
    • I write on them, positive information I get off the boards here.
    • Funny quotes, sayings etc.
    • Looking forward to the May challenge. I met my April challenge of losing 5 lbs and start jogging. The weight loss has slowed but I'm okay with it.

  4. #28- Learn something new.

I hate to say it, but I'm directionally challenged! If I don't know how to get somewhere it's over! I have been making myself go to different areas where I live. Using my GPS in my phone and car. I hate being lost, it's the weirdest thing. I almost have a panic attack. Just do it!🤨

  5. Dream vacation: Definitely a cruise! I love to cruise. I'd like to cruise to somewhere I've never been before. St. Kitts, St. John some small island off the beaten path! I want to be in the penthouse suite, with the maid, the butler, the works!

  6. Had another NSV today.

At the mall today, looking for some summer tops. Automatically I went to the dark blouses. I stopped myself and questioned why do I have to buy such dark colors all the time. I put down the dark colors. Bought blouses in red, yellow and lilac. There's no need for me to "hide" behind those dark colors anymore. It amazing how your subconscious mind works.

I was just talking to my therapist when it dawned on me that "bariatric surgery is just like marriage".

    1. You spend time looking forward to the day you get married and lose some weight in order to fit into the dress/tuxedo. / Pre-op weight loss

    2. Wedding day! The happy day comes when you actually get married and walk down the aisle! / WLS surgery day!

    3. Afterwards there is a honeymoon both directly after and during the next year. Everything is new and fresh and you look forward to (almost) every day.

    4. You now live together and have to get along for the long run. / Your stomach has changed forever and you have to learn and keep up good eating habits.

    5. Now you have actually realized your goal of growing old together, but still need to put in the work to keep the marriage going. / You need to keep up the good habits and work that got you to where you are.

So what does this really say about marriage and bariatric surgery?..."Marriage/WLS" is not only about the wonderful "Wedding Day/Surgery Day", but about what comes before, during, and after. You have to keep putting work into it in order to make it successful. If you had problems before that day or develop them along the way, you are going to have problems afterwards as well. If you think that if you "only getting married / only having WLS" will make things ok then you haven't looked beyond that goal.

Now, I want to know what you all think? I am no expert (on anything) and would love to hear what you all think.

Wow , that makes so much sense . I'm still in the honeymoon phase right now!

I took a bath last night and fit in my 1970's era small bathtub without my hips hitting the sides. I used to live in a house with a massive garden tub and I barely fit in there! I was extremely uncomfortable sitting flat on my tailbone, so I had to shift from buttcheek to buttcheek - no padding left!

I can sympathize with that. Lost all of my booty!!

    B-Side Question:

    May Challenge? Yay or Nay?

(Also- I don't want to steal all the joy... so if someone else is interested in hosting as well let me know!!!!)

Definitely! The challenges keep me on my toes and accountable. Also I like the different exercise challenges.

    • Finished a "indoor " walking video. Will stretch afterwards.
    • Now to the 40 squats and crunches. Squats are okay. I still have a weak stomach, she does not like crunches! Lol! Or maybe its just me that doesn't like crunches!!

  10. Peace and blessings to everyone today. Up early to get a walk in before the festivities begin.

#21-Make a healthy recipe. Going to make a cauliflower-broccoli gratin for dinner. I usually make my cheesy potato casserole when the family gets together. I thought I'd try something with less calories. We'll see what everyone thinks!

  11. Good luck tomorrow. It's perfectly normal to be anxious, this is a major surgery. I was so nervous, on the day of surgery, I told my surgeon I was having second thoughts! It helped having family with me. The WLS surgery is the best thing that has happened to me. I haven't reached my goal weight yet, but I'm healthier. I can do so many things that I couldn't do before. Keep reading the forum for inspiration. Save journey to you.

    • DAY 14: Declutter.
    • I'm doing a "mental" declutter. I'm throwing out all of the negative thoughts I had when I had a weight gain. I thought I had prepared myself for any situation with this WLS. The gain hit me hard, because in the past I would say just forget it and keep eating. Regain all of the weight back. I'm definitely not going to fall back into that pattern again. I started over, writing down everything I put in my mouth. Got rid of the Protein crisps and Cookies. Not going to jump on the scale yet. I still have some more mental decluttering to do.

    • Today is a new day.

    • I'm over my meltdown from yesterday.

    • I'm already making a plan for Easter dinner. My sister is hosting, so I have her menu of what I will eat.

    • Up early this morning, doing some strength training and aerobics.

    • #13- will be outside most of the day. Going on a 3 mile walk this morning. Then later in the afternoon another walk to just enjoy the day.

It’s quite alright! We all have “those” days! Have a great day 😘

Thanks so much for the encouragement.
