Turned 40 in February and having my sleeve done on Monday (10/29). Scared and nervous but I'm glad I joined this page so I can read everyone's feedback and know that I'm not alone on the dark days and see the light at the end of the tunnel through all your positive experiences.

Day 3 post-op, surgery was Tuesday 10/23. Made it home yesterday afternoon after two days in the hospital. Pain is manageable on meds, but definitely there. Getting liquids in. Seems to get easier every day/hour. Have not seen any weight loss so far -- feel too bloated to even think it's possible right now. Trying not to be discouraged. My parents have been doing such a wonderful job taking care of me. It's nice not to feel alone in this. This thread has been of great encouragement. Thank you all for being here and being here for each other.

I am one week post op and feeling like what am I doing wrong this is too good to be true! Had to take my hubby to Walk in clinic today and got on the scale and I am down 12lbs. already. I know this is not the norm but I was very happy. I am going in tomorrow to hopefully get my discharge bag removed. Then hopefully can go back to work. I hope all is going good for the rest of you and I will try to be on as much as possible,

I feel very blessed, my post op was what I had hoped for. I woke up and when I was transferred into my private room, I transferred myself. The pain from the incision where my stomach was removed was the most sore, but with pressure and careful maneuvering I made it no problem. The next 18-20 hours were fine, I didn't press for pain medication, but the nurses kept me medicated without asking if I wanted / needed more.
When I was released the next day, the worst was my drive (ride) home, the motion of the vehicle made me feel nauseous (and this would continue for almost 2 weeks). Once home I didn't have any worse pain and getting around was slow but manageable. I just listened to everyone on here before me and kept moving and sipping. I believe that's what helped me with my success.

broth was disgusting. I wound up cooking some with seasoning onions and carrots. Helped out quite and bit. Also picked up some flavorless Protein Powder to add when drinking it. Made Jello and pudding and added the Protein to it as well. Wound up freezing the pudding as it would not set for some reason and liked it better that way.

So I had my sleeve gastrectomy on Monday at around 2 pm EDT.. it's now 107 am on Thursday early morning.. and I just got out of the hospital earlier today.. so far all I've had is half orange juice/half water.. about 45 ounces or so and now I have a big container of room temp water.. that I've sort of been sipping on the last hour.. ok only one sip so far.. but ya.. I'm trying my best to deal with all the pain and stuff.. it's not super easy but I'm ok. Just wanted to share where I was at.. this has been a long process getting to this point and it's almost surprising to me that I really full on went through with the surgery.. no regrets.. I'm happy I did it.. I just want it to stop hurting when I try and drink something hah..

So. I'm going to keep a mini journal with this thread I think.. anyone else who wants to do the same please feel free.

Woke up after only a few hours sleep.. not really tired strangely. My mind wants to eat.. I keep getting the desire to eat something.. which I'm certain would go badly.. so here I am.. drinking my oj and Water mix.. so far so good.

Change is so possible and this is super doable with a little determination. I could not be happier. Best wishes to you on your journey!
    To Chuck
Congrats to you! I know it is daunting today and you are probably questioning what you just did to yourself, but please know you made a great change. You will feel like your failing some days and be on the top of the world others. Just enjoy the ride. It's as much about the changes in your head as the changes that will happen to your body. Hang in there and best wishes on your journey. You've got this!

I was sleeved four years ago. About three weeks or so after surgery I had two McDonald's french fries. They HURT going down. It was difficult, but I went right back to my liquid diet. The experience really helped me understand the importance of healing. Good luck to you!

I went to the er today.. they put an ace bandage on it, which I'm wearing now and said it might be a sprain.. no broken bones thankfully. She also said there were signs of degenerative disease from carrying all my weight but hopefully that will get better.. 11 1/2 hours till I'm in the hospital.. thanks all for the replies
