  1. Hi, I am 3 weeks post op and am having a gnawing almost burning pain in my left abdominal region. Its been two days and the pain is about a 5-6 on a scale of one to ten being the highest. The pain is worse when I move so walking really increases it.

Does anyone know what this could be? I really don't know much about where my organs are inside my abdomen so I am clueless to what this pain could be.

    Thanks!

  2. I have heard you can still have the anesthetic, in you for up to weeks afterwards making you feel tired. I am 10 days post op and still take a nap every day. Protein helps. Have you tried Isopure? It comes in a variety of flavors and taste like Kool-aid. One bottle which is 20 ounces and 40 grams of protein really help me get my protein. It takes me all day to drink a bottle along with my Water. I get mine at Vitamin Shoppe.< /p>

    Hope that helps!

  3. Hi

I am Amy (Sassy) who started this post. I just want to put the word out there to everyone who reads this, please feel free to email anyone that has listed their email to start a conversation. Linda will be my fifth person I am emailing and if people continue to join I hope I am not the only one who will take the first step to initiate contact. Thanks! and Good luck to everyone!

  4. I am basically eating everything mentioned, although, I was told by my Dr. that no matter how much Protein I eat, still drink the Protein drinks, 60g. The protein is absorbed differently and the whey is very important at this point. My Dr. also said I would have to continue the protein drinks for a year. I was told after 4 weeks, I can start adding ground meats, including beef, but always try it for the first time at home in case it doesn't agree with you.

I was told my nutritionist, that drinking protein drinks the first year can really help the weight come off, as people are not getting enough protein from meat and eggs alone. I plan on staying on my protein drinks as long as possible!

  5. I was just scheduled for Jan 12th! I am a self payer and do not have to do the Dr. dance, no psych, no heart test, nothing~! Just show up at 7:30 am date of surgery after having followed a full liquid diet a week before and a clear liquid diet for the last 12 hours. The Dr office even gave me a ton of sample of Protein shakes, from all over the place. Like powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, Bariatric Advantage, and some unflavored Protein too so I can try them all.

I think I may try a couple but leave the rest till after the surgery because I hear your taste changes a lot after surgery.

What is everyone bringing to the hospital? I have to go alone as my husband has to stay home with the kids. He'll just be my driver.

    I'm thinking of bringing my:

sippy cup so I can remember to sip sip sip and not gulp.

My kindle so I can read when I cannot sleep

Comfortable clothes, although everything is so tight on me now....I want to buy a comfy outfit to wear out of the hospital but know I never use it again in that size.

My daily medicine and my pills already cut up for easier swallowing.

Possibly my cell phone and ipod (I don't want these stole though and like I said, I'll be there alone with no one to watch my stuff.

Can anyone else think of things to bring.... ????

  6. I'm a private person and my weight I believe is my problem. Problem is.... my family thinks its their business. I don't live near my family but see them about twice a year. How do I NOT tell them I've had surgery when they see the significant weight loss I'm going to have? I don't really want to outright lie, but once one person knows then everyone on Facebook will know.... that is no one can keep a secret in my family and they feel they have the right to tell everyone they run into the family gossip.

Now some you may wonder if I am ashamed of the surgery and the answer is delicate. I just don't want the negativity. I know the surgery is the best thing for me and if I had some decent family and friends I could trust then I'd shout it to the world about how skinny I'm trying to become.

I think I'd like to say I went on a high Protein diet, lowered my calories and started exercising.... all true. Some I suppose will guess and talk about it behind my back, some will be direct and come straight out and ask me and that's where I get scared and want to tell them its none of their business.

Any feedback on this sensitive subject would be appreciated, no negativity please! Thanks!
