    Today is the day!

And just another update. The water and protein went down fine. No issues. I am now home. Still some small pain, but they gave a prescription to manage it. I almost feel back to normal. But on the plus side- it's a new normal. I'm not hungry and feel like this is going to be a great success. Wishing everyone success in all upcoming surgeries!

    Today is the day!

At one day post surgery, pain is pretty much gone. Have been waking every few hours, which helps. Starting in an hour or so, they will begin to try to see if can tolerate water. If that goes well, then protein shake, then I can go home. I can't say enough about how helpful this forum has been. Being able to get my questions answered and share my experiences for support is great! Thank you everyone!

    Today is the day!

Wow. I can’t believe it is done. I went back to pre-op and before I knew it, I was asleep then suddenly it was done. When I woke up, I had pain in my back and shoulders and abdomin. The shoulder and back pain was difficult. But not intolerable. I have a pain med IV drip. I've mostly slept all day on and off. Dry mouth. About to do my second walk. Thank you everyone for all your thoughts and prayers.
  6. My surgery is tomorrow morning. Please pray that everything goes well. Thank you!
  7. I was wondering when people received their surgery time- 24, 48 or 72 hours in advance? I know my date but thought I was supposed to get the time yesterday. Maybe I’ll get the call today. Just the building anticipation and wanting to get everything in place before I go to the hospital.
  8. Hello! My surgery is August 29 (3 days from now.). I’ve never had general anesthesia. I have a rather personal question. If your abdominal area is numb during surgery, how long does that take to wear off? (Once the surgery is over and you are in recovery). What if you have to go to the bathroom? If you are not yet awake and able to walk, do they use pads under you or bedpans or a catheter? It would help to be prepared for this, even knowing it’s probably not the same for everyone. How long was it after surgery before you evacuated your bowels? Thank you!

    Time for surgery

I just got the call! 6:15 am arrival for 7:30 am surgery on August 29.
  10. Thank you! I absolutely will let you know how things go! Fingers crossed.
  11. I bought this book before I had even joined the BariatricPal community and it has been such a huge help and resource. Big book, but easy to read and skip to chapters that are the most important for you in your stage of the process.
  12. Thank you everyone for the suggestions and thought! I prayed my surgery would get approved and I will pray to come out of it successfully. Thank you!
  13. @ChellNC thank you! Good suggestion. I will do that!
  14. My process has gone quickly. I went to my doctor for the first time in June and my surgery is August 29. I had three dietician appts, behavioral, labs and doctors sign off. I just completed the surgery pre-Registration, nurse visit and final blood work. So just waiting on the phone call to tell me the surgery time. My nerves are starting to kick in. Having trouble sleeping. Worried about waking up from surgery. I am having gastric bypass. Wishing everyone much success!
