  1. Hi all I wanted to compare notes with you guys as we are coming g up on 2 years. So lately almost everytime I eat I get nausea and end up vomiting, no matter what it is. Along with that vh the amount I normally eat has been reduced I'm full a lot sooner than usual. Now I must mention I did just recover from the flu on pack and Tamiflu and I maybe a little dehydrated, looking for any advice or similar stories to help me out.

Could it be linked to your cycle? Prior to having a hysterectomy my weight would fluctuate around 5 pounds a week before and the week of my period. Mostly due to bloating and Fluid retention, and a little bit cravings.

I had my hysterectomy years before my sleeve but I've seen other posts where people have said they were going through the same thing, just curious because everything happens in phases with the sleeve.

  3. First let me say congratulations on the wieght loss, now what everyone needs to be mindful of is that our bodies have the final say on our numbers. I get it we have all been overweight so long and dream of being skinny that we over shoot our goal weight. So when our bodies go down too low the body automatically adjusts by adding some back. Think about it for the most part everyone who complained about gaining was only a 10-20lb difference. What that says to me is our bodies looks for and will eventually find true homeostasis, meaning comfort zone or ideal body wieght not some European body chart (FYI Europeans have a smaller frame than the average American, have you ever purchased a pair of shoes with a euro size you always have to get a bigger size for a true fit). Your wieght loss is very commendable and you should be proud of yourself because I am if it means anything.

  4. well i have been experiencing side pain and had a ct scan done finding i may have nephrocalcinosis which is Calcium build up in kidney. This can lead to kidney failure at worse case scenario, so i am electing to stop the calcium caltrate. When i had my stomac scan prior to surgery they told me my stomach is not the usual oval like shape, its actually oblonged and explains why i never felt full. So although my stomach is smaller i can still get in a full meal (ie protien, side and some veggies) so i dont think im lacking in Vitamins and explains the excessive levels thus far. I have made my doctor aware of my decision and ill get follow up labs and ct scan in like 6 months.

  5. I am 10 months post op and have been having pain in my left side, i went to my surgeon and he ordered a ct scan. Although I have no stones they did find i may have nephrocalcinosis, which is a build up of Calcium in the kidneys, so i am deciding to stop the calcium citrate pills and just do the Multivitamins. When i had my stomach scan before the surgery they found that it is oblonged (very long) which was why i never felt full. So even though my stomach is now smaller the shape is still the same and i can still get in a complete meal ie Protein a side and some veggies (just smaller quantities). With that being said I don't feel I'm Vitamin deficient anyway so taking supplements 3x a day maybe an overload and the reason for the build up in my kidneys. I have informed him of this but just looking to get some feedback from actual patients who may have experienced this

The only problem with this logic is the you *might* be possibly teetering close to the edge of recurrence of health issues at that range. But I'm not a doctor. What does your team think?

Instead of BMI or a certain look, maybe check out what weight range puts you out of the path of XYZ.

(Unsolicited advice, I know. Im Sorry. I used to think I had a certain body type as an AA that I'm finding out I don't have, possible never did. So I'm no longer relying solely on a certain look as an indicator of health. YMMV 😊)

Well isn't that what the BMI indicates your health status, my team is fine with it and I am in a healthy range than before. Just remember being too thin is also unhealthy but I get it being overwieght for so long everyobe wants to see what it's like being skinny but to that's only going from one extreme time the next. I'm all about being proportioned and at this wieght I definitely am. Good luck to finding your comfort zone.

Aloha Njgurl! I am still losing. According to my doctor prior to surgery, I should have lost around 100 lbs at 1 year and slowed down after that. My problem was that I started loving my wine a little too much after surgery than I ever did before it. What I discovered is that for every week I had some, I would not lose for almost a month afterwards. The moment I stop for at least a week, I start dropping pounds again. The upside to that has been a slower loss than anticipated resulting in less lose skin for me. The downside is the disappointment I feel when the scale does not budge. The motivation comes in wanting to see movement on that scale. Thus, I return to accountability and following my plan like I am supposed to That is why we are warned against alcohol because even if we still eat less, I find that I am not as mindful of carb intake when it comes to Snacks with alcohol. I am still working my way towards at least 185. Like my doctor says, it did not take me a short amount of time putting on the weight so dont expect it all to disappear in a short time even with the surgery. I have heard some great success stories but again, everyone's journey is different, therefore we all lose differently.

I think as African-American women we have a different goal as far as weight loss, 185 is a good goal. My thing was I want to be proportioned not skinny so im good at 198 because at 5'6" I look a lot smaller than the number anyway. Good luck on your journey you can do it 👍🏾.

Hi Newbie Girl I am writing to say hello, what told you you are starting maintenance. Was it a feeling or slower weight loss? I think that band to sleeve is said to be slower, but I think that we can defy that and lose as much weight as we want. I think being in wonderland is an amazing thing. Myself I am wanting to get to my first goal of 154 so 100 pounds. Not sure if it will happen, I want to just stay the course and see where it goes. I am so comfortable at this weight or size I should say. Being a size 12 is comfortable.

    Dawn Marie

I intentionally started my maintenance because I am comfortable where I am, I look a lot smaller than the number on the scale.

Hey guys, haven't been here for a while and thought I'd check in. Still losing slowly but surely. Ladies, stay away from wine and other new addictions that might take over where food once reigned! Lol. Keep to your goals and do you. Every journey is different so never compare yourself to others. At 18 months postoperative I thought I would have figured it all out by now. That is not the case. I still am mindful of my Protein and calories intake as well as liquids. Still on my Quest for Vitamins that I can settle on (have tried gummies, pills, patches). Still eat with my eyes and have to remind myself food is simply fuel and not a party. Still have to remind myself I have lost the weight and to stop ordering 3 sizes too big because it might not fit. The list goes on but wherever you are in your journey, you are doing great and you will reach your goal. Might not be tomorrow but keep working at it and you will get there. Most importantly, if you have an off day, dont beat yourself up about it and continue forward. For those of you dealing with naysayers of all sorts, I say do you. Your future self will thank you for it. Who I am now am very thankful for the me 18 months ago. My pictures below say it all. I got to a point where I was so miserable, I rarely took pictures and continued eating myself to death because it was my escape. I posted preop pic, one year anniversary, and most recent. Good luck everyone.Take care and Aloha!
