Will gastric sleeve work for me?

It’s working for me. I need to lose 127 to reach my ideal weight. I dropped 100 lbs in 7 months. Still have 20lbs to go and it’s slow going now, but I know I’ll get there.

    Vomiting Vitamins

Tespo saves me. I threw em all up too. I gave up trying then a friend told me about Tespo. Bariaxtric vitamins automatically mixed by the machine and you drink them from a shot glass.

    Vomiting Vitamins

I Barfed every form of edible vitamin made. Just the thought of taking them made me queasy. I switched to TESPO. Its a machine that mixes up dry vitamin powder with water into a tang flavored vitamin shot. Here’s is a link, check it out https://gettespo.com/

    Portion Sizes

I’m 6-mos out and can’t eat a whole scrambled egg. At 5:45A I’ll drink a cup of coffee followed by 16oz water over next 2 1/2 hours. Around 8 to 8:30 I’ll drink my protein shake, then slip out for a 1 or 2 mile walk. When I get back around 9, I’ll eat half a Greek yogurt followed by more water. On the weekends, I will swap the shake for an egg. Usually scrambled with cheese and I’ll eat 2/3rds of it...anymore makes me sick. I’ve noticed that in stead of getting nauseous right away when I over eat, I’ll get hay fever symptoms first. Runny nose and itchy watery eyes. One or two more bites and I’ll upchuck. But the runny nose is my warning track. Whatever you do eat SLOWLY and chew.

    Best tracker

Surprised no one has mentioned Baritastic yet. I believe it’s the best app. I use it to track weight, food, tape-measurements, water, goals and milestones. It also links to a Facebook support group with over 44,000 members. It even has some great recipes built in that I have tried and loved. I used to track my exercise there too, but I recently started tracking my exercise in Fitbit (which also has some great food and water tracking).

    Support Group

There will be patients at different stages and different procedures plus some still waiting approval. Usually someone from the doctor’s office, my Surgeon usually comes with his Nurse wife and the Hospital nutritionist sets it all up and sends the invitations. You’ll enjoy talking and sharing. I know I do.
  7. I’m doing well too. Lost 81 pounds so far. I got stuck on the same weight for like a month. The week before Christmas until just last week. Stepped up the exercise and broke through the wall. Can’t tell you how great I feel. My bad knee isn’t so bad anymore. If I take another 50# off of it...I may be able to skip the knee replacement surgery all together. My bad shoulder is still shot but whatthe heck...I’m totally pumped at my health. My diabetes and sleep apnea cleared up in the hospital. Blood pressure perfect and my heart rate is great too. So glad I had the surgery...life is great and getting better😄

    Only A Few Active Members

I check in daily. If I see a post I feel I can give a helpful reply I do. Often a few others have already posted a reply I agree with and would have said the same...so I skip on by. im also on at least one other gastric sleeve forum. I just don’t post as much as I used to...I’m in the groove now.
  9. Since I left the hospital I’ve noticed a big change in the foods I enjoy for their taste and texture. Many of the foods I loved before are no longer appealing to me. Most of them because they don’t taste so good anymore and some make me sick. I have been very good and haven’t been eating bad at all. However, this Last weekend Miss Barbara began her annual Christmas Cookie baking marathon. She made all my old favorites and I decided I could eat half of one cookie each day. Well I’ve taken a bite of each kind she made and surprise! I hate them all. I will have no trouble avoiding them from here on out. I guess that’s a good thing, because my weight problem was primarily caused by my inherited sweet tooth. I’ve dropped 3 more pounds even though my house is full of cookies and homemade candies. I have not told my Bride that I don’t want to eat her cookies anymore, nor will I...it would break her heart. I’m either going to pretend to eat them or find a way to break it to her without hurting her feelings. Any suggestions?
  10. You poor thing, that is such a sad heart breaking story. I hope your husband was a loving man, before he took ill and it was just the disease that made him mistreat you like he did. The way you were treated was sinful. Yes, I will love my wife and hold her close for as long as I live. She’s my whole world has been since we met on a blind date in 1980.
  11. I wish she would take a break but she won’t...she’s baking for two Sons, daughter-in-law, Grand Children, people in her office, plus I’ll be taking a bunch in to work the Officers and Patrol Agents I work with. I’ll just make sure the Agents get the lions share.
  12. Those are the stats based on 1000s of people. I wouldn’t take much stock in that and I refuse to be ruled by the statistics of those who went before me. I too was told to expect to lose 60% of my excess weight by 18-months post-op. in my case I’m about to hit my 4th month and have already lost 55% of my excess...and it’s still coming off fast. Almost 1 pound per day. At this rate I’ll be at 70% by my 5th month. Don’t let anyone tell you what you can do...you show them!
  13. Funny how that works. I filled the fridge with chobani yogurt pre-Surgery took one bite and it was awful. Ended up throwing out what my wife wouldn’t eat. Post surgery that flipped, its now one of only two that I do like and can eat. I’ll have a 3rd to half a cup for breakfast twice a week.

    800 Calories Per Day

I’m almost 4-months out and average 650 calories a day. Still losing up to a pound per day. I’m afraid I won’t be able to eat enough to stop losing weight. I’m over half way to my goal now.
  15. Y’all are probably right, she’s been supporting me for 37 years...still it might be said best with flowers. Brother SteveT74, I too am a Patriot Life Member...Outstanding!

    Tricare Question

That’s great, you’re on your way and it won’t be long now. Even if something snags up, your PCP will help push it through. Start rounding up the protein shakes for the pre-op liver reduction diet. Trust me it’s going to seem like it’s coming at you fast from now on! Good luck!

    Tricare Question

I’m retired too. I used to be Tricare Prime but I got kicked off a few years ago because I live over 100 miles from the nearest MTF (San Antonio). I’m TRICARE STANDARD. I’ve actually had the surgery approved twice since 2012. I backed out the 1st time wanted to try on my own again and the 2nd time I opted for the LAPBAND over the BYPASS because bypass was way too radical a procedure for me and the SLEEVE was not yet approved by TRICARE. My surgeon talked me out of the lapband and said I should wait for Tricare to add the sleeve as an approved procedure. Which they finally did 2 years later. Had my sleeve in mid-August and have now lost 68#. You don’t have to prove a thing to Tricare about you diet progress or attempts...Your Doctor and surgeon will write up a letter for the Tricare review board that will get you approved, I’m sure of it. You’ll be joining us a a sleeved member real soon. Good luck
  18. So you are almost 10-weeks post op and 22 pounds...that’s great! 2.2 pounds a week You’ll get there before you know it. I’m a man and it’s a fact men lose faster then woman (so says my loving bride of 37yrs, Barbara). I feel like I’m doing great losing 3lbs a week. Don’t feel bad, kick it up a notch and see what happens. I got stuck for almost 2 weeks, so added 5 more minutes of exercise and cut back calories from 750 to 650 and broke through the wall.

    Tespo Vitamin dispenser

I have been unable to take vitamins in the pill or chewable forms...I never could hold them down and quit trying. I got my Tespo 2-weeks ago and I love it. I’m finally able to take my vitamins. It has a orange citrus flavor that reminds me of tang only not nearly as sweet.

What do you eat for lunch?

I like the protein packs by PLANTERS P3 and Hormel Natural Choice. Both consist of Chicken, turkey or ham bites with nuts and cheese....10-15 grams of protein and what you don’t eat, you can snack on later. Here’s a picture of my lunch today...170 calories
  21. Less than a child’s portion. Just a few oz.
  22. I was eating anything I wanted. Just ultra small portions. Beef and pork...no problem. The only think I can’t tolerate more than a nibble of...bread, especially a biscuit.
