Hey I'm from Houston, Texas also. I'm 56 years old. I haven't had the surgery yet. Several more things I still need to do. To be honest I have days when all I want is the band then days when I think of not getting to have another diet dr pepper the REST OF MY LIFE and I start changing my mind. I know not having diet dp for the rest of my life is a small sacrifice for losing weigt but for some reason I can't get past it. I've been wanting to hear from people that have had the surgery a few years. Thanks for you input. I'm going to check into the sleeve.

I would like to hear from someone that has had the lapband surgery for more than several years. Have you kept the weight off and is it still a struggle to keep it off? I would like to know about the long term struggles of the surgery. I am thinking of having the surgery and was just wondering how it will be years from now. My problem is I can do a diet for awhile but can I do this the rest of my life.

LateBloomer, I just want to say thank you for your post. I am still on the deciding end of the LapBand. I think you telling of your experience is just that YOUR EXPERIENCE. Personally I want to say I'm sorry that someone thinks you are gloating and you should be ashamed. I for one want to say how proud of you I am for sharing your journey with me. Maybe one day I will be brave enough to take that journey also. I for one know I can't follow orders to aT or I wouldn't be needing the surgery in the first place. I want to encourage everyone but I guess I know I'm human and I know I will slip every once in a while. If I can't share those kind of experiences with you than where do I do from here?

re: nissen fundoplication When I had this done in 1999. I could tell it didn't work because I still had reflux real bad. In 2000 they took an x-ray and said it slid down. The doctor that I am seeing for the lapband said he could repair this when he went in to do the lapband but won't know if it could be done without cutting my stomach open because of scar tissue but I don't know what he means. I'll ask him when I see him again.

Hello everyone. I had a nissen fundoplication back in 1999. It slipped down. I am now considering lapband and found a doctor that will go in and do my nissen fundoplication and lapband at the same time. The only problem he said because he will not know about scarr tissue he may need to cut me open instead of doing it laparoscopic. I'm nervous about the lapband and now knowing I might have to get cut open too. Wanted to know if anyone else has gone through this procedure?

Has anyone had a fundoplication done because of GERD? I had this back in 1999 and it slide down. The doctor who I have been seeing about lapband said he can fix this when he does my lapband. Just wondering if anyone else has had this done.

I am considering lapband and have been reading everything I can for about a year now. I have to admit my emotions go up and down hearing the good and the bad. I have had a fundoplication done back in 1999 which slid down. My doctor said he would fix that when he goes in to do my lapband. Has anyone else had this done? Would like to hear from you.

Hey, I'm new to this. Did you have to do the 6 months of diet with a doctor before your scheduled lapband? Just wondering if I have to wait another 6 months to get this going.

I'm new to this. I don't know if I even know how to use this forum but I'll give it a try. my question is I'm filling out the form to try and get approved for the lap band. Any suggestions on getting that form filled out right so I can get approved?
