I am 7 weeks post op and my appetite is back. Not as ravenous as I once was, so that is good, but I am hungry more often than every 3-4 hours and really, all I want to eat is cheese. I'm also craving Peanut Butter. Both are okay in small amounts but neither should be used for Protein. Hit me up with your ideas for meals at this stage that satisfied those savory/fatty/creamy cravings.

I am also 7 weeks post op and all I am able to tolerate is Sharp Cheddar cheese. Is your stomach able to tolerate anything else? I am having a hard time eating without getting sick. I have tried so many different things and the only thing my stomach tolerates is the cheese. I need help lol.

As long as you tolerated it, you should be fine. Thank you for the reports. There are so many opinions that seeing the black and white print really helps.

Thanks! My diet following surgery seemed pretty liberal compared to most! I was approved for eggs and soft foods after 1 week. At week 3 and 4, I was allowed ground/shredded meats and well cooked veggies along with any soft foods. I'm please that I'm loosing weight and able to eat. At this point, 5 weeks 1 day out, I'm able to eat pretty much anything but I have a good guideline of foods to avoid, daily Protein goals, daily calorie ranges, and volume/amount of food per meal. I'm pleased that I'm able to eat and enjoy food as well as pleased to see progress while I'm working on my "mind surgery". I know this is what is best for me and I will make it work. Smart choices are still important because there is a snack pack of Nutella in the pantry and at this point, it doesn't call my name at all.

(Glad to see you are doing better. I just got caught up on your scary experience!)

Wow you are so lucky. I have been cleared to begin trying out solids but haven't been successful at eating anything yet. More than a bite of anything and my chest begins to hurt.

  4. Hi Everyone, I had my surgery Aug. 3rd. I am still not able to eat at least a tiny portion of anything. But the good thing is that I lost 35lbs so far. I think I am at a stall. I go to 177 and then back to 180 in one day. I am having problems getting my Protein in. I don't think Water is a problem. I am drinking lots of water. Today I tried the premiere shake banana Cream. It isn't bad but after half, I am done with it.

  5. Good Morning Everyone, it has been three weeks and three days since my Gastric Sleeve Surgery. For some reason I am not able to eat much of anything. Only liquids and I have to try to get my Protein in via shakes. I decided I would do herbalife shakes. They are the only ones I like. My surgeon and nutritionist said at this point I have to get something down so that is ok. The good news now lol I have lost 30LBS. I have attached a before and after pic.

I’ve had such a great recovery and I thank god for that. Drinking was hard week one but now I can drink no problem. I still don’t remember to take my Vitamins everyday but I plan on getting the Patches so it’s easier. I drink Water when I can. I found these chobani low fat yogurt drinks they are amazing and 10 grams Protein. The Protein Shakes gave me the runs so instead I try and drink 3 cups for 1% milk. Sf pops and Jello. Oh and chicken broth is heavenly when your struggling to swallow. It gets better trust me.

You are so lucky. My problem is with my appetite this past week or so. I am not hungry. I drink Water when I can. I notice that when I put ice in my water I drink it more easily. I have a B12 Vitamin Patch now and I take Centrum. Tomorrow is my first post op appointment. Let's see what the doctor tells me. I love herbalife shakes and I am going to use them as my Protein Shakes. I tried other brands and don't like the taste. Yes the chicken broth is great. I will definitely try the Chobani low fat yogurts. Thank you so much.

I haven't dabbled too much in fried foods, besides French fries. I try to avoid things that are breaded and fried because the grease seems to upset my stomach. Now, if I make French fries in the oven at home, I don't have a problem. Obviously, I don't do this often, but from time to time, it satisfies the urge. I've also found some good alternatives to my previous favorites . For example, I buy a brand of soy meat that has two "fried-like" foods that I enjoy.

Great idea, where do you buy them from?

  8. Good Afternoon,

I am having a hard time with this liquid stage and need some help. Tomorrow marks 2 weeks that I have had my gastric sleeve surgery. I purchased some items from the Bariatric Pal Store and IDK what I am doing wrong.

Apple Cinnamon oatmeal - it says to put it in the microwave for 3 mins. After 1 minute it is oozing out the microwave.

strawberry banana smoothie - shook it for 30 minutes and still too many clumps.

    What am I doing wrong?
