  1. An example of one surgeons meal plan 6 months out 1000 to 1300 weight loss mode

    maintaining 1300 to 1500

SIDE NOTE: I was allowed to add carbs (whole wheat, sweet potato, brown rice) when I got close to my maintaining weight. This was to slow/stop weight loss. Again, all plans look different.

This isn't lifelong for the 5-700 calorie, it's only until I get to maintenance weight, then I can go up to 1000. Sorry if I made you think it was lifelong. If that was the case I don't think I would have had the surgery. I have no other health issues other than diabetes which my a1c is coming down since surgery.

I'm still worried. 1000 calories is still weight loss calories, Not maintaining calories.

@bratcad Do you have your printed instructions from Dr. Dryer for real food stage and maintaining ?

I'm supposed to stay on 500 calories no more than 700 until I reach goal weight. But that seems impossible.

I'm sure you are beyond distraught and frustrated. I'm sure my posts have not been helpful. But I'm worried about you. 500 to 700 calories lifelong is setting you up to fail. (only my opinion) You are the first patient that I have ever seen that has this calories zone with the sleeve.

@bratcad had the same surgeon. Do you both have the same instructions of 500 to 700 life long? Is there a medical reason that he has you on that low of calories?

When your body is starving it's easy to swing into old behaviors

I am going to do a blanket post to see if anyone has the same surgeon and instructions. I think they will be a better help to you .

re: rings, I highly recommend these spiral ring sizers until you reach your ultimate size. That way you can wear the rings and not get them resized until the end.

my glasses are also too big (I've had to start wearing my spare pair, which are tighter), and my pants too long. My wrinkles are definitely starting to show now that my face skin isn't as tight. My cross-body purse hangs lower on my body. The seatbelt in my car no longer scratches the bottom of my neck - it sits lower where it is supposed to. And a ton of other things.

    Love the ring sizer.

  5. Two months to go for your weight loss requirement to get approval.

Embrace that this will be hard and you will be cranky. Empty your house of temptation food. Weight loss is fighting the behaviors that never served us well. Use a food app. Log your food for accountability to yourself. The challenge above is a great way to stay on track and support each other.

Four 1/2 years out. Day three of liquid/pureed foods due to a minor surgery (non stomach related) Wow I'm surprised that my restriction is back. I'm not cranky or ravenously hungry.

I lost 40# before and 40# which is all great but I’d really like to lose 30-40 more. I have no problem going slow but I’ve been plateaued since 6 months post-surgery.

I’ve tried everything I can think of
eating more (NUT recommended 1200-1300 cal)
    eating less (900-1000 cal)
    focusing on Protein (60-100g)
    eating more balanced (33% - 33% - 33%)

Nothing has worked! I’m just stuck gaining and losing the same 4lbs since end of August.

I'm at a loss if you have tried both calorie ranges and hit your macros consistently with no different results. I understand the frustration.

What has been you average calories for Jan 26th to feb 1st ? Your gaining and losing the same 4 pounds for 6 months, sounds like you are consistently eating your maintaining calories. Goto you average calories tab. Can you post it like your chart above ?

Your chart says you average more fats than Protein are you doing Keto? Either do keto or low carb consistently.

I would like to know — has anyone ever had a trouble-free surgery? Every post I read seems to talk about some sort of complication, pain, vomiting or other problems. Has anyone had a relatively easy sleeve procedure? Thanks!!!

Pain was managed with medications. I bounced back from surgery quickly. No complications.

The only thing I would consider “bad” is I had quite a few crackers with Peanut Butter and some cheese. Other than that it was all high Protein foods. I’m 3.5 weeks out and feel I don’t have much restriction even at this early post-op. How far out are you?

You are right, your calories should be lower at 3.5 weeks out.

Cut the Peanut Butter and crackers out of your diet will bring your calories down. Crackers may be causing the hunger.. Once you add carbs you crave them more. Peanut butter is a slider food for me. Its high in calories and has no bulk. Easy to eat way too much of it, never feel full and start gaining weight.

Do you use a food log app? I use myfitnesspal. I felt better after I got to real food stage. hang in there.

I just could not get SATISFIED

    • What does a day of food look like for you?
    • If you are on real food stage, have you stopped drinking shakes/meal bars?
    • Are you eating real whole foods to hit your Protein goals?
    • Have carbs/sugar snuck back into your diet? Once you eat them you crave them more.

I ate over 1100 calories today! I have been averaging around 500-600 for this past week but today I just could not get SATISFIED! I’m totally freaked out by this! I’m so worried I’m slipping back into old habits and I’m going to fail. Anyone else have this issue and how did you get a handle on it???

500-900 is not lifelong calories...They will increase as you progress. How far out from surgery? Were the extra calories due to bad food choices?

I'm a sleeve . My calories increased to 900 to 1100 of healthy foods. Sleeves have less surgery restriction as you progress. This is why it's important to log and keep within your weight loss calories and macros for the day.

  13. Congrats on your surgery date. Many people here that will support you through all this. My six month supervised was painfully slow. I was hungry and cranky. Hang in there.

Everyone says that it will be great and the appetite diminishes post surgery any input there?

Pre surgery I don't think I had the sensation of full. I now feel satisfied on smaller meals. I was not interested in eating in my first month. After I healed from surgery, I have real and head hunger. It's more manageable after the sleeve.

I feel ready and all but I question how hard it will be post surgery cuz weight loss is so hard before to stay on track.

Its normal to question your decision. Know that this will be different than your past dieting attempts. Surgery is not the easy way out. It will still take work.

I struggled to lose weight and keep it off. It's the reason I had surgery. I'm four years out and maintaining.

I was just curious if anyone struggling after surgery added an OTC weight loss pill or even a prescribed pill and what were the results?

I'm not a fan of weight loss pills. OTC never worked on any of my previous weight loss attempts. Prescriptions are a bandaid. Once your prescription is over, You will be right back dealing with hunger and weight loss again.

Also depends on what you are struggling with.

    • Counseling may help If old habits are coming back.
    • Finding ways to deal with hunger
    • Dealing with less sleeve surgery restriction
    • staying consistent.
