Well, I have not had surgery yet, but have started the process. Going to have the bypass unless the doc says otherwise. I am 68 (!) years old, 4-11 and 195 lbs. Personally, the joy will be be fitting into allllll the clothes I have handing in my closet!

I'll be 61 soon. I had revision from VSG to bypass early last month, in August. I'm 30 lbs. down from my 10 day pre-op to the last time I weighed. Recent metabolism study says that our metabolism doesn't change until 60 years old, and after that 0.7% decrease every year after. https://www.studyfinds.org/human-metabolism-age-60/#:~:text=The study finds humans burn, only 0.7 percent per year.

Hi. My name is Laurie. I had the rny bipass surgery 11 months ago. My one year date is 9/14/20. I am 57. I have lost 132# to date. I have 38# to go to hit my goal weight. Everyone says how great that is, but having low stuff esteem, I think of it as a bad thing because I had that much to lose in the first place! That is more than some people weigh all together! I can't believe I let this happen, but I was in a bad marriage. I don't really have an appetite any more, but the hardest problem for me is the not being able to eat and drink at the same time. I get so dehydrated! It's so hard to wait 30 minutes after eating to drink. Sometimes I have a couple sips anyway because I am so thirsty and can't wait. I end up throwing up. Not good for your health, but on the good side, it's only a tiny amount, so it's worth it to me. I used to drink a huge tumbler glass with all my meals, at least. I am tired of Water. I am lactose intolerant, but suffer through it because I'm tired of water and end up not losing as much as I should because I'm drinking my calories. I am starting the process of a double knee replacement surgery and the skin removal surgery. It's not as bad as I thought, but I want the skin gone. With my living arrangements and health, I have not exercised at all. But I would do the surgery all over again in a heart beat. I can't believe I'm not craving food! I thought that would have been the hardest part. In fact, there's probably under 15-20 things I can eat that agree with me. I had only one problem five days out. I had to go back in for another surgery for aspiration pneumonia. Was throwing up blood big time. Other than that, I'm working on me and finally getting a life because I've been a hermit for probably 20 years because of my weight! If your doctor recommended the rny, do it. I'm so glad I did! Sorry so long a post. My first one. Just joined. Really need a support group.

    well, it’s been one week,
I went to my Back doctor, because I had spinal stenosis in the lower back for about three years,
Tried having surgery, but I couldn’t because when I went into the operating room, when they flipped me over, I stopped breathing, so the operation was canceled,

All I could do was walk about 100 feet then my back would hurt so bad, I would halve to sit down, I also couldn’t stand longer than 10 minutes at a time. Because of the pain,
I also had arthritis pain in my knees, hips lower and upper back, I was a mess.
Had my surgery, and yes it hurt, and yes, I had to change,
I went to my back doctor, and he said I lost 24 pounds. I said wow.
The first thing I noticed was my ankles, they weren’t swollen anymore. They looked kind of skinny,
My back pain stated to go away, my arthritis pain went away,
I showered yesterday and dropped my sock and I just reached down and picked it up, haven’t done that in a while. Rechecked today and yes, I have no problem picking up items off the floor.
Went to the store, and walked around the whole time, feet are tired, but my back doesn’t hurt at all.
After all this after one week, what’s to come in the future.

10 months post op and I’m fluctuating between 165-167. I’ve been exercising regularly and thankfully have toned a lot of my lose skin. I still have a lot on my upper thighs and stomach but I’m ok with that. At this point I want to lose about 5-7 more pounds - initially I thought more but I’m almost to where I want to be.

I’m so thankful for this surgery.
