Sneezing and Other Weird Signs Your Pouch is Full

So funny! I didn't know this til my nutrition class pre-op when they told us to look for cues. My daughter is only 20 and hasn't had the surgery but ever since she was small her nose runs after eating a meal and she has to blow her nose. I swear it's because she is full! I never knew. cost

My procedure totaled about $24,500 as billed to insurance. My portion was $2,975. I spent another $2,200 on the diet appointments, nutritionist, all the labs, psych eval, etc. So total just over 5k out of pocket, but that was over an almost two year period. 3. At my three month post op, my surgeon made me promise to weigh only once a MONTH. I am a bit scale obsessed and maybe that's why. His logic was that we get overconfident and can justify overeating when we see the weight coming off...or we can get too frustrated when we don't see the numbers we want. It makes sense to me. He said concentrate on the process and follow the rules, and weigh once a month. Now the sad part? I had to have the hubby literally hide the scale. Lol! I've been annoyed these first few days ...but I'm starting to like it! Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

  5. Agree!! My insurance company especially. Slowly they have been changing their policy to cover less and less. And they still denied even though I met all their conditions! I think they just bank on the fact people will not appeal. I sure was not one of those!! Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. THIS, totally! I am a slow loser and the surgeon told me that as long as weight is in decline, even if only 2-4 pounds a month, we are good. Now, I have a lot less to lose than some, but he told me I am a slower loser. However, the health benefits have been remarkable for me. I'm losing inches and clothing and ring sizes, too. He told me to not worry unless I stall and lose nothing for more than TWO whole months, OR if I gain. Then he made me promise to only weigh every four weeks. Remember, loss will taper off and slow the farther out you get. [emoji6] Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. I started the process in December 2016 and had surgery October 2018. I work for the state of West Virginia and our insurance required a 12 month medically supervised diet and 10% of your original weight lost. Took me more like 20 months to lose it. Once that was done, the pre-auth, denial, appeal, approval, labs, psych eval, nutrition classes took about three months all together. So if you don't count my diet period, only a few months. Hope yours goes fast! Mine was so drawn out that I had surgeons change in the practice I was going to, lol! Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Please help!

Let us know how it goes with logging and what you find that your intake is. Doesn't seem like you're getting enough protein but you never know! Our stats are similar...I'm 5'4", was 243 day of surgery (10/22) and now 215. My surgeon says I'm a slow loser. I also have sleep apnea, diabetes and hypertension. The last two of which have resolved. No PCOS or bipolar...some anxiety that I take Wellbutrin for. Also, I'm meeting with my nutritionist at the end of the month to go over my food logs and see if there is anything I can do to help the loss or anything I've been doing that's hindering. I'll share info she gives me as well. Good luck! Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

    An honest update. Weight Gain

Thank you so much for this post. It's important and relevant for all of us to see/hear that it still takes real and constant effort to maximize the benefit we can realize from this tool. Too many of us have thought the surgery would make it easier, if not effortless. Totally not true! You can DO this thing. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Chewable Multi Vites - thoughts?

Hey! I'm taking the ProCare Health one a day bariatric vitamins with 18mg iron. I started with Opurity chewables and could not stand them for more than a few weeks. I haven't had my first labs yet (those happen @6 months out for me, I am currently 3mo). Hoping the labs are fine. I also switched from Opurity chewable calcium citrate (too chalky) to the Celebrate chewables and love them. I'm using Bariatric Fusion sublingual B12 also and so far that's it. The Opurity sublingual B12 is decent too. I always find it interesting to see what others have tried. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

    4 months out and FRUSTRATED!!!!!!

I has VSG but my issue is the opposite. They want me at 600 calories a day but I have trouble staying under 800-850 and still get all my protein. Have you looked at adding in protein shakes to boost calories between meals...like while you're busy and can't stop to eat slowly and mindfully? Good luck with this. 13. All.the.time. I'm three months out on the 22nd and I'm a super slow loser. Have lost 28lbs since surgery. Lost 76 before surgery so my body just wants to hold onto everything. 45 to go to get to "goal", and 70 to get to ideal body weight. I watch others losing massive weight and feel like I'm failing. I'm sticking to the plan though, and the surgeon is happy. Says since I started at lower BMI it's ok that this is slow. All my contacts morbid conditions are resolved except for sleep apnea. I have gone down three clothing sizes and two ring sizes. I've lost 36". I feel better. I need to stop seeing the scale as the main indication of weight loss. SO...today my hubby hid the scale. I'm only weighing every four weeks, at the request of my surgeon. I think without checking on it several times a day I'll concentrate more on the process and what I'm supposed to do rather than the scale. Wish me luck!! Hang in there...you're not alone in this feeling. [emoji171] Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Weight Loss Meds???

Saxenda is specifically a weight loss drug. The lesser dose is prescribed as Victoza, and that is to help control blood sugar. In my case, Victoza was covered by insurance but Saxenda was not. So my doctor gave me an RX and sample pens to double the doses so I'd be getting a Saxenda dose. I took it for 9 months before surgery and lost about 35 pounds. It works as an appetite suppressant. Dec 2018 - May 2019 Dietician Consult Buddies?!

I hope you guys can get scheduled ahead! Mine was a 12 month program and they wouldn't send it for approval til after the 12 months and the required 10% loss (which ended up taking me 23 months, not 12) and then they still wouldn't schedule until after the insurance approval (which was first denied, then appealed, then overturned). I hope for everyone to get what they need as soon as possible!! Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app
