I find I have to switch things up drastically. I’ll do a super low carb low calorie day (like 700-800 cals), then a higher carb, higher calorie day (like 1200 cals), then back to 900 cals. Doing that almost always keeps me from stalling. I just never let my body get use to the same thing. It’s also what was recommended by my surgeons office/dietician if stalls happen.

That makes sense. I'm pretty much eating the same thing every day and don't have much variety in my diet. I'll start switching things up. Thanks!

2. No. For a while I couldn't break 800 calories until about 9-10 months. My injury occurred about 6 months out of surgery, curbing my exercise substantially and then depression hit and I lost myself for a good 3 months towards the end of 2019. I stopped tracking in my app but I would put myself at 1200-1400 calories during that time. Got it together in January when I was about a year out and by then I'd lost 110 lbs.

3. Hi y'all,

I've been stalled in the 270s for a few weeks now and I don't know what to do other than ride it out (which I'm doing, but not well). I'm about 16 months out from surgery and I'm averaging about 800-1000 calories per day and getting in 90-100+grams of Protein in with 3 meals and 3 Snacks. I've upped my Water intake to at least 80 oz/day and I've also started exercising again after an injury and laziness sidelined me for a while. My fat and carbs are usually around 40 g/day but on a higher calorie day, it can get into the 60s for.

Am I getting in too many calories and too much protein for where I'm at? Too many carbs/fat? I think I put myself in maintenance and I still have about 100 lbs left to lose before I hit goal. Any tips?

4. Hi ladies,

I have a fertility consult in July regarding TTC. I'm about 270 now and pretty much anticipate the doctor telling me that I'll need to lose more weight. I've lost about 150 lbs since my RNY in January 2019 but I've stalled for a while and not sure that I'll make my goal of 250 by my consultation appointment. Have any of you gotten pregnant/had any issues getting pregnant weighing 200+ lbs? I'd very much prefer to be at goal (170 lbs) when I actually start TTC but my eggs aren't getting any younger either.

5. Hello, all! I haven't posted in a while but I'm back (for now, hahaha). I had RNY in January 2019 and I'm sitting around 274. I've lost about 145 pounds since the surgery but I've been in a weird headspace about it since I'm not yet at goal. I think I put myself in maintenance and have gone back to basics in terms of lowering my caloric intake, watching my macros, and making sure I get at least 64 oz of Fluid in. Hopefully I hit goal by the time my 2 year surgiversary rolls around, but until then, I'm celebrating all of the small victories.

The best ones to date? I had a doctor's appointment today and the arm cuff fit around my upper arm! And my blood pressure was great, well within normal ranges! I was able to fit in the chair that you sit in to give blood. Being able to let that arm down and have ample space to get situated felt unreal. I told my doctor that I wanted to start TTC next year and he told me that he didn't see any issue with me trying. I could've cried when he told me that. All I've ever wanted was to be a mom and that was my reason for getting surgery; to be healthy enough to become a mother and be able to raise my kids into adulthood. I'm also getting rid of clothes that I'd been saving because I couldn't fit them before surgery and they're now too big.

All of that to say, don't let the number on the scale discourage you! It may not be moving the way you want it to, but you are so much more than the number on the scale and the changes you're making will impact your life in ways the scale won't/can't reflect.

6. Hi Nic C! Congrats on making it under 300! I hope you're doing much better. Its crazy your lowest recorded weight was a decade ago. I love reading accomplishments like this Are you still stalling or have you been able to lose consistently. I just hit a small stall.
Thank you! I'm stalling here and there but I'm still losing. I think I put myself in maintenance for a while so I'm going back to basics with my diet to get back on track.

7. Checking in... I'm finally under 300 lbs. Depression hit and I lost myself from Sep-Dec and ate and drank whatever and how much my pouch allowed. I stalled hard but the scale finally moved once I got it together. My 1 yr post-op appointment is today and while I wanted to be around 275 or less, I'll take this 296.8 and be proud of how far I've come since I saw the scale hit 420.

8. Checking in since it's been a while. I'm 110 lbs down from my highest weight and 102 lbs down from surgery. I'm almost out of the 300s and I can't believe it. I've been out of commission since I sprained my ankle in July but I'm feeling like I can finally get back in the gym so I can lose the next 100+ lbs.

Having my RNY almost 9 months ago truly changed my life. It's so hard and I've had several rough months, but I'm determined to get to Onederland and stay there.

9. Highest weight: 315 June 2017
Got down to 265 on Keto then developed rheumatoid arthritis Spring of 2018. Regained back up to 305 after being on prednisone for inflammation and pain. Stopped gaining once I was taken off fortunately.
Was 303 at my consult appointment with the bariatric surgeon on 2/15/19.
I am currently 290 as I'm back to calorie and carb counting for the past month. My surgery date is June 3rd My program doesn't require a liquid preop diet but wondering if I should do it anyway.
My surgeon set a goal of 168 but haven't been that low since 9th grade so not sure if it's possible.
Anything is possible! Congrats on getting a date and your loss so far... you've got this!

10. 1. I used a pill cutter as some were huge. The pills themselves weren't difficult but drinking Water with them was rough in the beginning. The Vitamins I take now are all chewable which is a plus.

2. EGD and bloodwork after approval. I had 4 nutritionist appointments and 1 psych eval prior to.

3. Listening to your stomach, consistently eating 5-6 small meals a day, getting your Protein in, getting your Fluid in, paying close attention to food you don't prepare yourself, taking ALL of your vitamins daily. It's an adjustment, for sure, but so worth it, IMO.

11. My highest weight was 420/421 and my surgery weight was 412. I'm now around 364 after hitting a stall at 375 that had me freaking out a bit. Just seeing 364 on a scale is mindblowing after not being in the 300s for so long. My 3 month post-op visit with my surgeon is this Thursday I'm hoping to have lost 50 lbs by that appointment though my official 3 month post-op date is on the 23rd. NSVs include wearing shoes that I couldn't years ago, moving into 3X clothing, and feeling (but not yet seeing) my collarbone. This whole process is still surreal. I hated being in the 300s but I'm so happy to be here now and will continue to work until I'm in the 200s. Who knows, I may even hit onederland! Congratulations, ladies, for continuing to smash your goals and don't forget to reap those Non-Scale Victories!

12. I had RNY in late January and have been able to eat regular food again for about a month. I rarely eat out anymore so I'm always surprised at how large the portions are. This was the Fit Fare veggie skillet from Denny's. 390 cals for the entire meal and kind of carb heavy due to the potatoes but this will last me for a few days. I'll add some grilled chicken during later meals for more Protein. 20190309_141841.jpeg 20190309_142725.jpeg

13. I've been struggling since starting soft foods. It takes me forever and a day to get in one bottle of Water and having to wait 30 minutes to eat something that may or may not come up is taking it's toll. I'd rather drink my meals at this point but my surgeon said no more Protein Shakes at this point and to try eating. It's frustrating because I know I'm dehydrated and getting 60-80 grams of Protein in seems all but impossible at this point without at least one shake. I'm going to call my surgeon and let him know my concerns but do y'all have any tips?

15. Hi fellow Texan. I just had my sleeve done on the 23rd and I'm feeling the gas just like you. It's really made this whole ordeal much worse. The only relief I was able to get was laying on my side (which hurt) and pulling my legs up to my chest. I was able to pass quite a bit of gas that way. But it just keeps coming back. Constant gurgling and the pain and pressure from the gas is lower down towards my pelvic area. Uncomfortable!
I was worried about sleeping on my side because I thought I'd pull something but I'm willing to try anything at this point. I'm learning that broth helps the gas move, fingers crossed that it decides to move out.

16. Hello there,

I had my RNY on the 23rd and was discharged yesterday so I've been home a full 24 hours. liquids are going down fine, minimal nausea, though the thought of chewing real foods again makes me tired. I SEVERELY underestimated how much pain I'd be in but it's manageable. I had a hiatal hernia repaired and my gallbladder removed so those are sources of pain as well.

My primary issue? Gas.

I've never wanted to pass gas so much in my life. It's also a sentence I never thought I'd type but here I am. I was told by my nurse not to be surprised if I didn't have a bowel movement until this weekend and I honestly wanted to cry. I've been walking and it does help it move the gas but it's moving up and not out. I was also told that milk of magnesia may help but I feel like that is a last resort. Any suggestions?

I just wanna fart.< /p>
