MyFitnessPal vs. Baritastic
Bari_KS replied to lizonaplane's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I use Baritastic app. It has large food database and barcode scanner. I sync my Baritastic with Renpho scale and Fitbit, so i can track my weight and daily steps. I also track my exercises and bowel movements with it. It has food recipes, timer and reminders for taking vitamins and water. Section for tracking BMs has an area for journaling. Baritastic app. is multifunctional and everything in one place. I like its graphics too. -

My program required taking Pepcid Complete twice per day for the first 6 weeks after surgery. Then discontinue Pepcid and begin Calcium (calcium citrate with vitamin D).

Sounds like BPH, it's age related and very common in men. Treated by tamsulosin (generic for Flomax).

Covid Vaccine
Bari_KS replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had 2 doses of Moderna in January. No issues after first dose. Feeling very tired, with muscle pain all over my body on the second day after second shot. Asked myself what is better: getting COVID or feeling crappy? Took 1000mg of tylenol and problem was gone! -
https://www.fepblue.org/our-plans/basic-chart You will pay $200 for surgeon and $100 for outpatient stay at hospital, ot $175 per day for maximum 5 days if you're inpatient. This is what BCBS federal basic option will charge you.
-
BCBS FED Basic olan has no deductible, it is PPO (out of network providers not paid) and out of pocket maximum is NOT affected by bariatric surgery (they keep it secret). Hospital care: inpatient $175 per day, up to $875 per admission, outpatient $100 (my surgery was outpatient). Surgery: $150 in office settings, $200 in non-office settings.
-
FEP Blue basic (or BCBS federal basic as you called it) charged me $200 for surgeon's fee and $100 for one night at the hospital. That's all....crazy.

Moving average weight mode uses a trend predictor to predict what your weight is, and this usually results in a pretty smooth downward line. Instead of plateauing for 6 days and then losing 0.6 all at once, moving average weight mode is more likely to say you're losing 0.1 pounds all 6 of the days. It is also known as "happy scale".

connection between sleeve surgery and motor neuron disease / ALS ?
Bari_KS replied to cajamihutch's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Out of curiosity, i googled "connection between WLS and neurological disorders". There's quite a lot of info and research articles on this topic and 90% of them relate RNY gastric bypass to neurological disorders due to malabsorption of vitamin B (2, 6 and 12). I didn't come across any correlation between VSG gastric sleeve and neurological disorders. -

Anyone here who had surgery in their 60's?
Bari_KS replied to Neller's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my VSG surgery at 62ys in 2018, 2days before Thanksgiving. Easy peasy, no issues, no pain, stayed in hospital less than 24hrs. I learned a lot about weightloss surgery from good people on this BP forum. This surgery changed my life and my health. Best decision ever made. I wish I've done it long time ago. -
Who had a nicotine test day of surgery?
Bari_KS replied to Stacia143's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was tested for nicotine on my first visit with surgeon and 2 weeks prior to surgery. Since nicotine interferes with wound healing, many surgeons require this test. You may find some interesting info in this link: https://www.verywellmind.com/how-long-does-nicotine-stay-in-your-system-80291 -
Approved for surgery in 1 day
Bari_KS replied to JomaraElizabeth's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Scammers. Just ignore it. -
3 working days after surgeon's paperwork was submitted to FEP Blue. However no official call or confirmation letter. Nothing on their website/portal. I called insurance rep after 2 weeks of waiting and learned the good news.
