    I Want Chinese Food!

I made my own cauliflower fried rice from a recipe I saw on Pinterest. I added shrimp to give it some protein. It does call for 4 cups of “rice” so I’ll be eating this for the next week lol

    Exhausted/Tired

100% normal- you’re also probably ingesting about 200-300 calories a day which is a total change for how your body is going to fuel itself. Rest and recooperate, trying to walk around the block if you can, then come back and rest again.

    Starbucks drinks

At first I was ordering a doppio blonde espresso over ice in a venti cup and adding a caramel premier protein shake. It would take me about 2 hours to get down, but it made me feel a bit more normal than just juices and jellos all day. Now I just do iced lattes with skim/2% milk and sugar free vanilla or cinnamon dolce. The brand they use, Torani, has a ton of other SF flavors and you can always add your own at home. Once in a grand while I will get an unsweetened passion or green tea over ice.

    Weight stalled

I had a stall a couple of weeks in. I added daily walks to my routine and now I’m adding some resistance training. That seems to help! As far as your pain- I am sorry to hear that. It is good that you are seeing your surgeon about it. I only experienced pain the first few weeks at my lower incision sites (I had 6 total) because they were right where my pants hit and it pulled a lot. And as far as periods- this is actually a topic I wish I had asked about before surgery! You will have to report back. Mine has been all over the place despite being on BC.

How long was you in the hospital after gastric bypass?

I am also in UNY! Where did you get yours done?
  6. @GeminiSky so it’s not technically high in protein, it does have 6g, but the brand is Chilly Cow. I did read a lot of the Halo top ice creams have a good amount of protein.
  7. I didn’t have a pre op diet, only the day before was all clear liquids. I don’t know how folks did this for 2 weeks! I was light headed from one day of it. Flash to post op.... I never puréed anything. I did have yogurt, mashed potatoes, and soups, things that were naturally smooth. But mentally I couldn’t do the meats in smoothie form. I just chewed A LOT. Some other cheats- I went to McDonalds about 3 weeks post op. I figured the food (fries) was squishy enough and I could chew it down. The first few bites were heaven. Then about 15 minutes later I got incredibly sick. That was the last of that. Also, when I progressed to soft foods, I tried chicken wings- a pre op favorite. I ate about 1.5 wings before I was sick to my stomach. It tasted so good going down.... not as much coming back up. I found a low calorie, high protein ice cream I eat fairly often. I’ve never felt sick from it and it’s been refreshing on these hot summer days. So... definitely not perfect. I hit a stall my 3rd week but once I incorporated more exercise the weight started falling off again. Trying to stick to proteins and cooked vegetables now and I’ve been pretty good.

    Burning stabbing pain

I’m not a medical professional but I know I couldn’t bend over much the first couple of weeks, and I had to get assistance with laundry and groceries and such. It seems like you should take it easy! It’s really tough, more mentally than anything, to do nothing for a few weeks. But it’s worth it over pushing your body to do what it’s not ready for. I would see if it goes away by the next day and maybe call your surgeon if it persists. (Ice is also helpful for strains!)

I was restricted to no more than 10 lbs as well as no overhead lifting for a month

    Burning stabbing pain

Hi- my guess is you probably shouldn’t be doing all that lifting and bending! Did you have any physical limitations from your surgeon? I had surgery on 6/11/18 and I was advised no lifting more than 10 lbs for 4 weeks.
