    New around here

Sounds like you are doing great!! Keep it up!
  2. MikeIL...you are doing amazingly well with that loss! Always remember... you did not get over 400lbs in a few months. It will take awhile to get to where you want to be and can truly notice all the changes. Focus on how you feel and keep trying new things that you never could have done at your high weight!

    The Maintenance Thread

This is perfect! Though I have struggled at finding that maintenance level of calories, I think Iโ€™ve finally got it. You have to stick with it and gradually you will find a calorie range that works. Mine seems to be around 1500 cal right now though Iโ€™m sure that will go a good bit higher in the future. Getting past the fear that you are going to suddenly slip back into all your bad habits that made you overweight in the beginning is key! You will not suddenly become obese for eating more carbs and calories.

    Protein Shakes

I was given the go ahead at 1 week post op for full liquids and purรฉe. That included protein shakes

    The Maintenance Thread

Love this! I often feel like I have to stuff as many calories in me to maintain....and hopefully regain a little...but in the back of my head I know that itโ€™s a process and it will level out eventually. But I get lots of push back from others, which I largely ignore. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Just had my 9month follow up with surgeon and dietician. Iโ€™m currently 5โ€™7โ€ and weigh 122lbs. Theyโ€™re glad I feel good and have great labs but said donโ€™t lose anymore. Iโ€™m planning on adding in strength training which they say will help stop weight loss and add some weight.

    Vitamins

My dr had me wait 1 month before starting vitamins. He said in the beginning you arenโ€™t eating enough food to help your body absorb the vitamins. So youโ€™d end up peeing them all out!

    The Maintenance Thread

Love this thread! Iโ€™ve had a hard time finding others who are maintaining. Like some of you weight loss was quick and despite adding calories, I have continued losing. Last couple weeks Iโ€™ve averaged 1200-1400 cal a day. It does feel like youโ€™re eating all day! Iโ€™ve been trying lately to add an extra protein shake each day to up calories with less volume. Any other ideas? Dietician did say add healthy fats and use things like mayo and sauces more. SW 204 GW 150 CW 123 5โ€™7โ€

    Weight maintenance

I know. Itโ€™s hard to wrap my head around this. Scared Iโ€™m going to mess up and gain too much.
  12. So Iโ€™m just over 7 months post op. Iโ€™ve lost 76lbs and am at 128lbs (5โ€™7โ€). I think thatโ€™s a bit low for me...too bony! Iโ€™d like to maintain or maybe put a few pounds back on. Having a hard time getting to maintenance level calories without feeling like Iโ€™m going to explode or barf! Iโ€™ve been adding spoonfuls of peanut butter, an extra protein shake, nuts etc. I talked to my dietician and thatโ€™s pretty much what she advised in addition to adding condiments like mayo, salad dressings etc to up calories without the bulk Anyone have certain things they have done to maintain or even put on a few pounds? This is just too bizarre having to think this way after being so focused on following the plan to lose weight! ๐Ÿคช

    Age

So happy I had this done! Surgery was 9/25/18 and since then Iโ€™ve lost 64lbs! No real problems and I definitely feel restriction.
  15. Oh my! I hate that you are still going thru this mess! Iโ€™d be tearing the local dr a new one and insisting on communicating with the Columbus dr at least weekly! Keep on keepin on!

    Non Scale Victories

So excited and surprised right now! I ordered size 12long Lee relaxed fit jeans as my 14s were way too baggy. Got them and tried them on and.....they were way too big!! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ Woo hoo!! I think part of this is that my body does not require the relaxed fit anymore... though that is the kind Iโ€™ve worn for years (even when I weighed less years ago). I noticed that as Iโ€™ve lost weight after ESG, my butt/hips have shrunk way more than they did with previous weight loss efforts. Weird. Or maybe since Iโ€™m past menopause Iโ€™m going to lose weight in that area easier...๐Ÿค”
  20. 100lbs! Way to go! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ƒ Glad to hear things are progressing for you.
  21. Happy Birthday!!! Every journey is different...good or bad. Hoping for good news at your next appt! My 3 mo appt is tomorrow. Iโ€™ll probably get stalking to for not exercising but my weight loss is fantastic and exercise will come in time. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  22. Nice job!!! I know it hasnโ€™t been an easy road for you. Hang in there! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  23. I think that sounds fantastic!! Please donโ€™t compare yourself to others. Our bodies all react differently to this๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  24. Congratulations! Love those milestones ๐Ÿ˜ƒ So happy when I hit the overweight category and just yesterday landed just within the normal BMI category!! Havenโ€™t seen that in years.....๐ŸŽŠ๐Ÿ’ƒ
