So before surgery i HATED anything grape flavored with a passion and fruit punch was my go to. So i bought a multi flavor pack of gatorade zero and figured id give hubby the grape now that im post op. Took one swig of thr fruit punch and spit it out...tried the grape and it was heaven!! So funny how you dont realize how much your taste buds change! Who elses taste buds changed?

I went with VSG! I’m so happy with my decision! No heartburn what so ever and down 23lbs since surgery and 33 from my highest.

I think I was kind of sad and it felt like I was breaking up with food, and I kind of was but slowly this got better. The more I got outside to walk or swim the better I felt and the less I focused on food. You've got this, it gets better. Cheers!
Thanks!!!

My husband and kids (thankfully) are supportive but they don't really understand how difficult this journey has been. Outside of them, my family has been a nightmare! One family member even told me I was going to die! That was where I had to stop. I don't want to fight this battle alone but I have to do what is best and I have too many people relying on me now and in the future to keep carrying this extra weight around.
My dad and husband have been super supportive but my mom has been worried telling me I could die and this surgery isnt safe and I need to just lose the weight as well. My Monster in law (mother in law) has always harped about my weight and when I told her the surgery I get backhanded compliments like, "well at least now you can wear smaller clothes and look great but youre pretty now." *rolls eyes* (and yeas she says them outside earshot to my husband). My boss knows bc i needed the time from work and were a super small office and then one of my friends knows bc shes having the same surgery as me in Jan. and i made the mistake to tell one coworker (i knew her from school before i started working there) and she said "are you sure you can do it? i mean youre always eating" (which im not at work bc no food is allowed at our desks and i dont see her outside work so how would she know) but mostly im just tired... im tired of the negativity and having pains in my ankles all the time bc of my weight , and starting to develop an array of other health issues due to my obesity. I know this inst a fix but in the end i deserve the right to any tools necessary to HELP better my body ....

I understand completely! I'm having my surgery 10/30 and have kept most of it to myself since i've had people tell me "oh you have no motivation now well then you wont after surgery so its pointless" "or why dont you just diet and lose the weight". so sad to hear people judge my decisions so quick that are supposed to be my friends and be supportive but at the end of the day i have to keep telling myself, im doing this for my body and my mind and not for them

So ive been under the assumption that im having the sleeve surgery done. However when i logged into my patient portal I saw under my upcoming appointments and procedures this:
Planned ProceduresBypass operation of stomach using an endoscopeDoes that mean it was changed to bypass without me knowing it? Or is that just a generic term posted for it? I plan to call but he is out of the office this week. -

@Foxbins thanks ill defn pick up soon as a precautionary
@Sosewsue61 thats how mine is before only when i eat super spicy or super greasy foods, i just normally choose not to eat those foods otherwise no problems what so ever
@TX4everLinds yea i saw that about the carb coma..one girl in this VSG/RNY group im in (she had RNY) out of nowhere a few years post op she said she took a bite of cake at a baby shower and started to feel bad so she left and ended up passing out and wrecking her car in a ditch.. she said she and the car was fine and luckily no one else was involved but she said it scared her bc it could have been way more serious and she just wanted to warn people to be careful bc dumping at any point is very serious

@CrankyMagpie thanks for the links, im going to check those out!
@GreenTealael thanks girl! ill keep yall posted on what i decide
@JohannaLea true, ive seen that a lot and i wonder why some people go back to old habits idk if its bc it is a habit or that they thought this was a cure not a tool like it should be and though "hey ill lose all this weight and still eat what i want" i recognize this is a tool and have seen a therapist to work on my over eating issues and get help to see why im doing these things. i see the tool as help but not a solution, you have to change how you eat and look at food as a lifelong commitment
