  1. I'm almost 3 months post surgery. I take Omeprazole every morning but I still get nauseous at different points in the day. Haven't figured out the trigger but in the meantime I need to find something to address the symptom. Pepto Bismol was my go-to before surgery but it doesn't seem to help now. Any recommendations?

I went through a period where I drank a lot of mint tea. It helped. Ginger tea can be good too. Good luck. I’m sure it will pass.

  2. Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. I gave a few days off before then. Do you think it’s ok to touch up my color I have lots of grey..lol. Also I get my eyelash extensions refilled every 2 weeks should I get that out the way too?

I don’t see why not. You’re not going to feel like taking care of those things for a week or two post-surgery. Good luck!

  3. Thanks for your responses! I see my md this week and plan to ask her the same question. Will let you know what I find out. Keep up the good work all:-)

I look forward to hearing what you are told. My nutritionist is positively coy about what I should be eating. She only wants to talk about habits like chewing each bite 25 times and getting enough Water. I’m supposed to aim for 75 grams of Protein daily but no guidance on other macros or calories. For me, I know tracking works, so I want numbers! Good luck.

  4. Question for the group- do any of you track calories? If so, how many calories a day are you consuming on average? I feel like I’m eating more than I should now that I can tolerate mostly anything. My weight loss has definitely slowed down. I try to reach over 60 grams of Protein a day, but sometimes eat more carbs than I should. Roughly taking in anywhere from 850-1300 a day.

I’m shooting for 1000 calories a day but sometimes eating more like 1200. I’m losing 2-2.5 pounds a week.

  5. We’re all so similar! Sleeve done on July 3 and I am down 56 pounds including Pre-op. I had my 3 month follow-up/nutrition check last week and am waiting to hear back. I was afraid that I was losing too slowly (comparing myself to some people here) but my NP said I was doing great.

  6. I’m 3 days post op and doing fairly well with liquid intake ....about 35-42 oz a day. broth is disgusting to my taste buds now. I’ve done regular Swanson’s low sodium chicken, better than bullion and Bone Broth. Not sure why but I hate that taste now.

I would love to have something besides sweet liquids but not sure there is anything else out there. Any ideas?

You might like miso Soup better or different kinds of herbal tea. Post-op I couldn’t stand sweet so broth was my savior. Our taste changes are so unpredictable. Good luck.

  7. This stall coincided with me starting more full fluids...full Soups with soft veggies. So wondering if the infamous 3 week stall is really just food progression and body adjustments?
Anywho, I’m embracing my stall cuz guess what...this is not a diet! My body is waiting for me to get frustrated and stop but there is no stopping, I’m playing for keeps! It is well! [emoji4][emoji177]

I’ve had a mini-stall every time I’ve progressed in the types of food I’m eating. So far it has passed within a week each time.

  8. I finally found one that 1) I don't despise and 2) has 30 grams!! of Protein. Ensure Max Protein. I have it over crushed ice-when they stay icy cold I tolerate them better. And 30 grams helps the daily total tremendously.

I hate the fake sweetness too. I switched over to chicken broth with a scoop of unflavored Protein Powder that I drink like tea. Be sure to mix the protein in when the broth is Luke warm, not too hot and not too cold.

  9. I've been using Spark from Advocare for the past 6 months- is that allowed post surgery? I've become really dependant on it for energy and I'm concerned that I won't be able to drink it once the surgery is complete?

Most surgeons recommend that their patients go easy on the caffeine or give it up entirely. You’ll have to see if your system can tolerate it. For me the big surprise of this surgery was how sensitive my new stomach is. Things like my normal medications and favorite foods nauseate me. But I’m only 3 months out.

  10. Right after surgery my tastes and smells changed. They are better now, but still off sometimes. I do get the foul smell pretty often, but my breathe and sweat are atrocious! I think it is because of the ketosis, because on one of my past 100-pound losses (Without the band or RNY) my breath smelled the same way.
I don't have one, so I can't say that it works, but have you thought about something lava navage where it rinses out your sinus cavity with saline?
I'm allergic to pretty much everything (Not foods/drugs though), so my sinuses are always up to something. I've just gotten used to it to be honest.

I’ve found that I am much more sensitive to chemical smells like carpet cleaner and air sprays. Also, I seem to have lost my taste for fish. I’m hoping it’s only temporary. I am 8 weeks out.

  11. Hi July Sleevers! How is everyone doing? I’m just about 6 weeks post op and looking to see what everyone is eating.....needing some new ideas :-)

I’ve found a Breakfast that I stick with every day. 1/4 cup part skim ricotta mixed with a packet of Splenda and a few drops of vanilla. I eat that with 1/4 cup of berries or sliced peach.

I make a lot of cold cucumber yogurt Soup and have that for lunch with a couple slices of turkey breast. When the weather changes, I’ll have to find a hot option. I love Asian style dumplings, so I’ll eat a few of those for dinner, along with spinach or zucchini cooked in some chicken broth.

I’m looking for good ideas too. I’m 8 weeks out.

  12. Which premier clear are you using? I but the tropical punch and even before surgery it was going down like a brick. I hate to make such a big investment in the product only to find the other flavors are hitting me the same way

Fruit punch is my least favorite. I mostly drink raspberry flavor and sometimes the orange-mango. It’s all what your body can tolerate. I drank the premier shakes for my pre-op diet but now they turn my stomach.

  13. Question for you all. In the first two weeks post surgery, did anyone not crush up their pills?

I have both the hospital meds and my own personal meds to take. Crushing them up without food is absolutely disgusting. I cut them up into tiny pieces in the hospital and swallow them with no problem but the nurse said I may not absorb those as well.

I definitely need to absorb my seizure meds as well as possible.

Difficulty taking medication has definitely been the big unpleasant surprise of this surgery. I got a sleeve on July 3. I also take a couple of antidepressants and it’s still a struggle to take them every day. They make me feel so nauseous that I can barely force myself to take them. Sometimes I can’t. One of the meds comes in liquid form and that doesn’t help. My stomach just can’t tolerate it. I’m hoping this passes.

If I take one capsule at a time on a full stomach, and the planets are aligned correctly, it can be not too bad, but most of the time ...

  14. Anyone still having gas pain 1-2 weeks post surgery? (At least I think it’s gas pain) Left side under rib cage radiating to my shoulder, collar bone, left scapula. Comes and goes but this morning was killer. Maybe it has to do with introducing purée yesterday? Or these Protein Shakes? Just took some gas x. Going to see my surgeon today too. Hopefully it’s nothing.....

Yes, I had sharp pain in my left shoulder for at least 2 weeks. I read your post and realized it had been gone for quite a while now but I don’t remember when it stopped ( I’m 5 weeks out. ). My doctor told me it would gradually fade and it did. Hang in there.

  15. I feel so inadequate now not knowing my calorie count... [emoji20]

Ours looks similar but I think my shakes have more fat, or some of the brands do. I have a mix of brands because flavor boredom.
How soon did you go into ketosis to shrink the liver? Are there any signs?
Anyone know?! (anxious now that I think I am doing this wrong!!!)

During my pre op diet, I never went into Ketosis according to the pee sticks, but I lost 13 pounds and the surgeon said my liver looked good. If you follow that diet, you’ll be in good shape.
