Very Important! Please Read! My life is in your hands!

I love texting! It's the least of the distractions of American drivers. There's eating in the car, playing with the raido, having a passanger, having road rage... I think the cell phone is the least of our problems. Monstly all the bad drivers I see don't have the phone in their hand, they have anger issues. Having a passanger is the same as talking on the phone, if not more distracting.

Am I Too Old For Banding Opp

I disagree. I think that the elective surgery is not a good idea for older people. As we all know, going under the knife is dangerous if you are in the best of health. Being older raises the risk exponentially: The healing process is slowed. The old saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" stands valid in this instance perhaps more than any other. You cannot teach someone who has a pattern and has lived their long life one way not to eat bread, some meats, sodas, and tons of other things that older people will have a problem with. Plus, I personally believe that young people don't have as many complications as the older ones do. I believe it is a young persons surgery.
  4. My doctor dosen't care if I have one or two sodas a week... of course I don't do it... I'm a good girl, I am :-)

From first visit to surgery... how long?

3 months... had to do visits, tests, exaluations, blah blah blah. The paperwork takes the longest. ...and it would have been sooner if I hadn't gotton cold feet in January.
  6. I'm assuming you mean bowel movement... ...I didn't have one for a week after and when I did, it was big and it felt SOOO good. I subsiquently lost 5 pounds. Now it's once about every 3-4 days. I lose a pound a day, but when I poop, I lose 2 :-)

Going to PCP in 15 mins!!!

I love my band. I am about 3 weeks out of surgery and I have lost 24 pounds. It might as well have been 100 pounds because my confidence is through the roof. Everyone is telling me it looks like I lost weight and I look great... none of my clothes fit... I'm so glad I'm with the band.

    Sharp pain in port area

I actually have the same pain once in a while. It's not right on the port, but it's close to it. My mom told me to call my doctor and I think it's good advice.

Am I Too Old For Banding Opp

I don't know weather or now you will be accepted, but I personally think this operation is for young people. It is a nothing surgery for young people. There is pain and the ordeal you go through afterwards realy can't be described... This is just my opinion, but I don't think anyone over the age of 40 should be able to have the Lapband.

    Doctor changed diet today.....

Lucky! Like mostly everyone, I had to wait the full 4 weeks, 2 liquid, 2 mushey, solids, then a fill.

    Taking pills before and after

Perhaps you should talk to your doctor about this. The last thing you want is to get that thing clogged!
  12. IAmWithTheBand

    Losing Fills!

There is definitly something wrong. That should not have happened. Perhaps get a second opinion... it can't hurt
  13. In your picture, you look so thin! Don't worry about it... I don't think there are "duds"... however. Maybe the band slipped? I suggest an upper GI. Perhaps you just need to find that sweet spot and until then, don't worry about letting yourself get hungry. The weight loss will start when you find the sweet spot. ________________________________ My doctor says it takes about 5 or 6 fills to get it right. When you can't finish a half of a sandwitch, then you're perfect, I hear.
  14. :rolleyes2: I have a week between my solid food graduation and my first fill. Can I eat whatever I want? (3 weeks out of surgery)... Right now, nothing bothers me and I'm loving my band. Lost a lot of weight and I'm having no problem sticking to the diet! It's actually fun to have everyone tell me how great I look! My only complaint is: all my clothes are loose and don't fit anymore :-( Poor me. _____________________ Okay, anyway, here's my question: I am dieing for Olive Garden and I was just wondering that AFTER solids but BEFORE the band, can I eat pretty much anything, or will I hurl? ... keep in mind, my weight loss journey begins after the first fill. I'm not going to starve myself... isn't that the whole point of this crazy little piece of plastic? So, what could YOU eat in that middle-phase?
  15. IAmWithTheBand

    when can you eat meat?

2 weeks liquids 2 weeks musheys After that, anything... as tolerated.
