Complications are scary. You never imagine yourself having them...and when you do...it kinda gives you a jolt of reality...that this thing that we're all doing is very serious. I think your reaction is very understandable.
Wishing you an uneventful recovery from here on out:)

I used bio-oil on randomly-chosen half my hysterectomy scar as a single-subject trial. Independent assessment (my partner) says the bio-oil half is perhaps 30% as visible as the non-bio-oil half - a difference was clear after about 2 months.
One subject only, so not good science, but I am now putting it on all of my RNY scar.
I had an open bypass - navel to breastbone scar. Hysterectomy is navel to pubic bone scar. My backup plan is a tattoo of a zip and small words alongside saying “Store pyjamas here” 🤣

    What's the rush?
I took the opportunity to learn about nutrition and exercise along the way in order to actually KEEP the weight I lost off, which over 50% of us will fail to do. That is far more important than how quickly it comes off.

    Perspective is important.

I had my intake appt Dec. 5th and had surgery April 12. I am 52, a new empty nester with my husband, am a nurse and a mother of 3, and decided it was time to take this step for my health. I had lost weight many times previously with Weight Watchers and Overeaters Anonymous. One time I added up all my weight loss. It was 492 pounds! I could have hugged my surgeon when he pointed out what a sign of determination that was. I feel I have been addressing my obesity in layers. That is kind of fitting because I became obese in layers also. Not all at once. Through Weight Watchers and OA, I learned a lot about cooking, nutrition, and addiction and recovery. In 2010, I began therapy to address emotional eating. In 2016 I had a sleep study and had wonderful relief from fatigue with a CPAP. My newfound energy level from having adequate sleep allowed me to establish a regular exercise pattern. I feel my surgery prep was fine tuning and education that has helped me hit the ground running post op. Tuesday will be my 2 month mark post op. I am down 52.5 pounds, 3 sizes, and feel head and shoulders better than I have in years. I could do physically active things at my higher weight but it really took a toll. Now I can do physically active things throughout the day without feeling wiped out. No more pain in my hips, low back, and knees. My systollic blood pressure dropped from the mid 120's to the mid teens. Can't wait to see my A1c at the 6 month mark. That had been at the upper end of normal. If cholesterol comes down or HDL goes up, that will be the frosting on the cake... Ideally I would like to get to a BMI just under 25, so that would be 150 pounds for me. However,I I have photos from when I was 165-170 pounds, and that would be a win in my book as well. For activity, I enjoy walking, biking, and swimming. I can't say yet that I "enjoy" weight training, but I do it once or twice a week. I went to a yoga class for the first time in a few years today. My husband and I hope to hit the golf course soon one of these days. And I look forward to trying paddle boarding this summer. If anyone has experience with paddle boarding, I would love any and all advice! I am glad to have discovered this forum and look forward to getting to know you all!

Hi! Congrats on the 50 pound weight loss, that is amazing! I feel really good too and I am so glad I did this. I have run into a really long stall though. Four days ago I weighed in at 204 and then the last few mornings I’ve bounced between 204 and 206. This stall is running a good 3 weeks now, so I think it’s time to change a few things. I have recently started working out at the gym again so I am going to increase my calories. I was eating around 600-700, and that includes one Protein Shake. Our office wants us eating more, so I increased it to 900 the past few days. With working out like I do, I know need to increase it even a bit more. I am hoping that once I do that, I will see the scale start moving again.

There is no better feeling than skinny. So proud of you! I can not wait to be in your position. That’s a mountain of a difference from less than a month ago. Congratulations!

Thanks!!! It was so motivating. I bought new workout clothes and went for an extra long bike as a result. I am so excited. Even though I look in the mirror and don’t *see* a huge difference, climbing into those size 18s did more for me than even dropping below 240 did.

    Hi guys and gals,

This is insane! I started my journey at 287, a size 24 pant (that were a little on the tight side.) I had surgery on May 14th at 260. Today, just shy of 4 weeks out I weighed in at 239 (finally broke that damn stall).

Anyways my clothes have literally been FALLING off me. I was just fine until about a week ago. So I went shopping today and grabbed some size 22s. Too big. So I grabbed some 20s. Still too big. So in total awe I grabbed some size 18s and holy mackerel they FIT. I almost died. And I tried on a shirt that was size 14/16 and it fit! I am on cloud 9 right now 😍.

Hope all my fellow May surgery buddies are doing well!
