So I posted before because after I got home from surgery I wasn't losing any weight and for 3 weeks, not a pound. Then finally by my one month anniversary I was losing a lbs a day. I weigh myself on Sunday, but I just happen to hop on this morning and wish I didn't, I gained 3 lbs in 3 days. I'm utterly deviatated and beyond depressed. Needless to say I hid the scale from myself, but tomorrow I have to go to my dietitian's appointment a failure.

A, but that's the thing FloweryNYC. I am eating less because I know I need to, not because I am not hungry. I only eat 3 oz because the Dr says so not because I couldn't eat more. I don't feel restriction at all. In fact if I didn't get a slight pain when I drink sometimes I wouldn't even know I ha d surgery.

I did consider I may be losing inches and not lbs, but I hadn't taken measurements since June, so I honestly don't know. In my head I have lol.

I had Gastric Bypass on August 8th and since the day I came home (August 10th) I have not lost 1 lbs. I get my Water and Protein in. I have walked every day aside from 1. I have tried to read everything to figure out why, but I can't even find anyone else this has happened to. Did it really not work? Is that even possible? I have been doing everything I can on my end so why is this happening? I seriously don't think I can face anyone if after all this I still can't succeed. Not to get personal but are you on any kind of hormones? In the beginning I had a hard time losing weight and I had the nexplanon birth control implant. Once I got it removed I started losing again. I guess my body didn’t like hormones. But also consider what everyone else is saying about the fluids and healing. It will start coming off. Keep fighting the good fight. Best wishes
I've had the Mirena IUD for 11 years, but removing is definitely not an option. I am going to increase my Water from 70 to as much as possible. Ash said not to stress it's normal so I am going to relax and see what happens.

In fact, I didn't lose much at all my first month and now I'm 7 months post op, down 132lbs. Your body essentially goes into starvation mode after your pre op diet and your first few weeks. I didn't find the loss picked up until I was back to eating a "normal" bariatric diet. This too shall pass, and this is NOT indicative of how your long term success will be.
This makes me feel sooo much better! Thank you so much.

So, subtracting out the 700 calories and not even bothering to count your walking, you are burning around 1220 calories already. That *MIGHT* be too much too quick?
Sounds possible. My body thinks it is starving so it goes in to desert survival mode.

The Water I'm conformable advising you attempt to increase, the calories, make sure you speak with your nutritionist about before attempting.
I have only been cleared for walking, but I walk at least 30 minutes a day sometimes I walk in the morning and at night, it depends. Sometimes I am just too tired at night, but I walk 30 minutes every morning.

I thought the highest loss was at the beginning, but I have been at 344 for almost 2 weeks. I am at soft foods now: scrambled eggs, refried Beans, bean Soup, milk, soft veg like squash, cooked onions, tomatoes, etc. Also Greek yogurt. I am now hitting about 600 calories average; a bit more or less some days but definitely can feel the new stomach restriction and try to avoid feeling it. My only problem right now, is because I needed 2 weeks of Lovenox injections, the whole of my pannus is purple and red, and has been very tender. I see the surgeon for a second follow up and know she will let me know if the bruising is a problem, but the lack of weight loss has me so down. Any insights? I keep up with my diet and exercise on myfitnesspal, so cannot figure out what I am doing wring. 😔
I am going through the same thing, had surgery on the 8th no weightloss since, it freaking sucks and it's frustrating. Matt Z has been super helpful. I am going to try upping my Water too. It sounds like it just happens, but just know I completely get it. I think it'll pass, good luck to you and let me know when things get moving again.

2 hours ago, Matt Z said:Try to work on getting your Water up to 128oz and see if that helps. You stated you were eating, are you physically eating or are you still on purees? I was on purees for a full month post op. Then to soft solids for 2 weeks, then I was cleared for everything except raw veggies for 2 weeks and at the 6 week post op mark I was cleared for all foods.
Are you tracking your calorie intake by chance?Ok, I will most definitely try that. I was released from the hospital on soft foods so I have scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, canned chicken or tuna, yogurt, things like that and then my Protein Shakes. I use baritastic to track everything. Calories range from 500-700. Maybe my calorie intake is to high, but its pretty consistent with the paperwork the dietitian gave me.

2 minutes ago, Little Green said:So you had lost no weight according to your doctor's scale as well??? What did they say to that??
I would give it another week or so and then demand an endoscopy to ensure that my pouch was correctly sized and all my plumbing is functioning correctly.
They're going by my weight before the liquid diet and bowel prep and I did lose weight in the hospital. So to them I have lost 13 lbs, but I lost 8 lbs from the pre op appt to surgey date and 5 in the hospital, but none since I have been home. I am 100% certain the plumbing is functioning correctly, but I thought maybe the pouch size was the issue also! I feel restriction when I eat, but I don't think it's where its supposed to be. I don't know maybe I am crazy, but drinking, I am walking I would think I'd be losing.

3 minutes ago, Little Green said:Honestly at this point, would you think it's maybe your scale? Have you done any troubleshooting with it, new batteries or recalibrating or putting it in a different place? When is your post-op follow-up? You're about two weeks out so I would imagine the fluids and swelling from surgery would be gone by now resulting in you seeing at least 5 pounds of loss from surgery day over that amount of time. I'm so sorry you're going through this!
I had my post op appointment and my scale matched theirs, it was accurate throughout the WL trial too, so it is definitely not the scale. I don't know why, maybe it just wasn't meant to be.

Maybe it is just healing, but no one else has had this issue. I am trying not to compare, but this is making me nervous.

I am definitely not having that problem so I think a stool softener would be pretty disastrous.

Does this means it’s healing ?Yes, they are just healing, but isn't it super annoying? I had surgery on the 8th and I can't stop scratching, it drives me crazy!

Please someone, how long until I start losing weight, any weight? I just don't understand what I am doing wrong.

so I am pretty frustrated at this point. I know it's only been a week and a half since surgery, but should I be losing weight? Any weight? I don't get it! I thought this was a tool to help. I lost 40 lbs prior, but now I'm done? I am getting in my Protein, I am walking, I am drinking. I mean seriously? WTF

Nausea, heart burn has been the worse so far. I am still happy I did the surgery. I sleep, walk and gets meds. Good luck to everyone else. Falling a sleep writing this.
Congrats. Just take it easy. I had mine on the 8th and I was in rough shape. So many people were walking away and I was thinking. "maybe something is wrong because I just feel wrecked" but it did get better. My pain didn't really start to recede until 4 or so days later, but other than some pulling in my stomach it's a lot better. Just don't over do it go at your own pace.

I had surgery the 8th. I thought i would be getting around a little better, but there is this one part of my stomach, maybe where the hernia was, that is still killing me! I try walking, but can't make it too far because of the pain. One step at a time I know. Everything else is going great though.

Also had a congenital hernia in my diaphragm, so he fixed that too. That is where my pain is. I have dilaudid this time, which is really helping. I usually don't have much success with pain meds working. Clears only in the hospital, Water and broth are going down fine. Full liquids when I get home.
I have a hiatal hernia that is going to be repaired as well. Hopefully your pain eases. Take it easy at home.

No, I have realistic expectations. I do not expect to lose a pound a day for a year, however I did expect to be successful. And if you re read my post I stated that for 3 weeks I didn't lose anything and was simply stating I finally felt successful when weight starting coming off. I am extremely frustrated that after 3 weeks of not losing any weight and such short time of actually losing that I have already gained. And since I do not have a weight tend I can't say it's been very successful.
