Oceanlove got a reaction from GreenTealael in Post surgery 4 months mini stalls
So as it said I’m a bit over 4 months. Highest weight was 316. I’m now sitting at 228 as of this morning. I was wearing a size 28/30. Now I’m wearing a size 20 comfortably.
Now where I need thoughts and opinions here is. I’m getting hungry more frequently now. I tend to wake up in the morning very hungry. I hate having that feeling.
what does everyone else do? Do you wake up nearly starving?
Another issue I’m seeing is I’m going nearly in a three week cycle. Where one week I loose almost 7-10 pounds then I sit at that weight for almost a full 3 weeks.
Its driving me nuts. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong here.
Im eating around 800-1200 calories a day. I don’t do Protein Drinks very often I tend to get Protein from meats.
Im eating nuts as a snack.
I have started eating tortilla chips but I’m stopping that I think that killed me for a week allowing that carb back in.
As a rule I don’t eat Pasta, bread, and rice.
I have let in too many carbs and sugar I think. I don’t eat sweets but I have been eating apple and Peanut Butter.
I also have a 12 oz coffee with French vanilla Creamer every morning.
I also realized I forget a lot more than I should no drinking before or after rule
Any thoughts, suggestions and opinions are very welcome.

I started out measuring everything to make sure I was not eating crazy amounts. The first month I could eat about 4tablespoons at a time before I thought I would explode. It’s now 3 months post surgery I started at 316 and I’m at 244 currently.
However I kinda freaked out this evening because I had a lean cuisine meal steak bits in a sauce with broccoli then a applesauce cup. All in one meal that was 7.5 oz plus 4 oz. this is not my normal by any means I’m surprised I could eat all that.
It just shows me that I need to always be on guard with the what and how much I’m eating. As a general rule since my surgery I do not eat breads, flour, rice, Pasta, potatoes and avoid surgery items. No carbonated drinks.

Its a struggle believe me but we we can do it.

I did not have the diarrhea issue nor did I have blood in my poo. You really need to see your Dr. my Dr. definitely did not mention anything about blood coming out of anywhere being normal.

I’m at the same place you are. My surgery was May 16th. I have only lost 25 since surgery, but 35 since Jan. That’s when my doctor counts it from.

I had my surgery on June 22, and my weight has been stalled the last week. No weight lost. I'm only getting about 40-50 grams of Protein. I just hate the shakes. I'm not hungry at all, and trying to eat healthy - but the weight isn't going anywhere. =(

Most people are disappointed at their rate of weight loss and wish they could lose weight faster. Some of us have unrealistic expectations of how quickly we will lose weight postop. Many of us compare ourselves to others, but we may not know how much the other person weighed, what other conditions they had, what medications they were taking, etc.
It is difficult but try to compare your progress to your past progress attempts at weight loss.
For example, I am eight months out from surgery and when is the last time I have lost over 130 pounds in that time? Never.
If we keep working the program we were given the process will work, it just may not be as quickly as we think it should be.

So I’m now 7 wks post op. I have lost 54 pounds since May 26th which was the start of pre surgery diet. I lost 24 pounds pre surgery then gained 20 back due to fluids as I left hospital after 4 days in hospital post surgery.
Since being out of hospital I lost everything again and lost a total of 54.
So I suppose I’m just slightly disappointed that after 7 weeks I have not lost more than 30 lbs of new weight because I really don’t count the 24 pounds of weight I lost pre surgery.
Where were you at at this 7-9 week post op on weight loss?

Trust me the recliner is where I had to sleep for two weeks the bed is still hard. I use pillows to sleep on my side since I’m a side sleeper but because of the angle I have to sleep it causes pain on my hip and shoulder so sleeping is complicated the first month.

Oceanlove got a reaction from Frustr8 in Surgical Glue.....
I’m going your route. Went to the Dr at week 3 for my post op he said everything looks great. I asked him about the glue he said it will come off on it’s own. He warned do not pick it off. So I’m not touching it. I’m now 4 and 1/2 week post. The tiny incision the glue fell off yesterday. It’s still indented where the incision was it has a dent where the skin needs to finish closing. I almost wish the glue was there till fully closed on all skin layers.
Now my big incision the glue is on top of the massive scab it looks mean and ugly but not touching it because that’s one I really want it closed on as many skin layers as I can.
Morale here don’t touch the glue it will come off on its own.

Ok so I tried to search first before starting this but had no luck.
I was diabetic before surgery taking 80units of levimere twice daily and 1000mg metformin twice daily just to try and control my blood sugar.
Gaining weight because of the medication. The big push for the bypass was because everyone believed that post surgery you tend to get rid of diabetes.
Well up till last couple days my glucose readings have been 95-104 when I check. I checked a bit earlier and I had a spike of 145 which freaked me out.
Its now 4wks post surgery all I had today was my triple zero yogurt that I generally have and 1 cracker with pb on it. I have had this before with out issues.
Idk does it take time for diabetics to eliminate it post surgery? Or could the worst be happening and it’s coming back ?

My diabetes is still lingering, but I was born insulin resistant and had Type 2 diabetes at the age of 27. I only take Victoza, and that is managing it, which is WAY better that 80 units Lantus, 2000 mg Metformin, 300 mg Invokana, and Victoza.
It hasn't even been three months yet, so I'm hopeful that I may kick that last medication, but I'm not too upset that after 18 years of diabetes I have one medication.

I hate sweet taste of anything which is fine I’m not a huge sweet person. My downfall is savory. So I’m hoping that has calmed down.
so what sweets I did like I probably will not at all like.
    Artificial sweetness is horrendous now.

Oceanlove got a reaction from kjuno in I really messed up on pre diet
Okay so here is the entire story here. I have posted in bits and pieces in replies to others.
So I started my pre diet liquid only mind you. At three weeks prior to my June 13th surgery date.
I have NASH or severe fatty liver or whatever they are calling it now a days
5/24th I started it. I did really good I was doing my Liquid Protein and broth, sf Jello and popsicles and a cup of yogurt.
Then on the 30th and 31st I fell off it because I had found out I couldn’t have broth nor yogurt. The surgeons office said the sodium in broth would not release the fat around the liver. And the yogurt was too much milk products since I’m using premier shakes.
So that sat me back and it was a lot to lose I tried it and was so hungry I gave in and had a blue cheese burger at a restaurant on the 30th. Then my coworkers brought in my favorite pizza they thought it had not started yet so I had like 4 slices and doughnuts(2) a couple hours later.
On June 1st I started again this time no broth or yogurt and it’s much harder. I made it through Friday, Saturday and Sunday then failed as the following this week starting on Monday
Monday- 2 fried burgers with tons of cheese and on bread.
Tuesday- large movie popcorn and butter
Wednesday- small cheeseburger and beef with veggies
Thursday- beef with veggies and chicken with veggies and cheese
My dear hubby is freaking out about it and has me worried that I’m going to get to surgery and they will cancel it or open me up and cancel it.
I started it at the weight of 311 or 314 and I’m now at 291 so I have lost some weight.
So im just curious if I can follow the all liquid till surgery if I stand a chance of it happening any thoughts? Has anyone ever failed this badly this close and made it?
or has anyone had surgery they went in and closed without doing it? Because they cheated.
I know I did it to myself and well I own that fully. I couldn’t control my actions I will have to work on that a lot.
But I’m torn as to if I should just call the surgeon office and tell them to cancel it because my liver is most likely not shrunken enough. If I do that I know he’s heading out a week after the 13th for three weeks and my insurance only approved the surgery window up till July 3rd
or just be strict till the 13th and hope all is well. As well as doing a murelax bowel cleanse the day before.

Oh how I wish I could have been stronger and not cheated

  21. Thanks

So as my day is coming closer and closer I’m running around trying to decide what I need to get to be ready for that amazing day.
What are some of the things that looking back after your surgery that you couldn’t live without post surgery in the hospital and right afterwards.
I am hoping that this will help all who have not had the surgery be able to learn from those who have had it.
What made post surgery easier for you ? What was your can’t live without items?

The surgery was originally scheduled for 13th. Then I called and told the surgeon office everything that happened with me cheating.
He rescheduled to the 20th. Yes that surgery happened. Everything has been going as expected.
I’m happy to say no head hunger or cravings yet. I’m not ever hungry or over full. I’m sitting currently in a happy medium.
    ———-
now as I go back and read some of the comments on this old thread. I’m surprised at some of the things people said.
For example “a self binger who can’t control yourself “. That one surprised me the most. I have never been a binge eater, I’m fat because I eat to much and don’t move enough and for a host of other reasons. At no point do I go binge on massive amounts of food. Yes my portions were big arnt yours before the surgery? The pre op diet is brutal trying to do it on a normal size stomach and with all the head hunger and real hunger going on.
So the fact I cheated was not surprising. The fact I had a hard couple days getting back on track not surprisingly. But I did get back on track I did end up losing 28lbs before surgery day.
And I did make it to the other side and surprise I’m still doing good on my post op diet. I’m sticking to it like glue.
So just because people have a hard awful time on the full liquid diet don’t mean they can’t do good post op or make it.
