It sounds like the weight gain is a symptom of the depression. I would focus on helping her with that then progress to better life choices. When you went to counselors were they for weight loss or mental health? If not mental health, then I would strongly suggest she talk to a guidance counselor or therapist to help manage with her depression. You can check too to see if they're LGBT friendly so she can feel secure talking about that aspect of her life.

Oh it was for mental health. We even tried anti depressants, but she didn’t like taking them and said they didn’t help. It’s so difficult to find the right therapist that can break through. She just won’t open up to anyone

  2. I need help. My daughter is 15 and I feel like she’s going down a very bad path health wise (very poor eating habits) sorry for the long background- 2 years ago she had a relationship with a girl friend and finally opened up to me about being gay. She hates herself and still struggles greatly with self esteem and self love. Prior to that summer she was always lean and super athletic. Since then, she’s been on and off depressed, very moody, and very lazy. Last summer she gained about 30 pounds in just a couple months and now has stretch marks, cellulite, etc. she now hates herself even more. I’m trying to set a good example for her, I was sleeved on 5/29/18 and have been trying to help her make healthier choices. Unfortunately, whenever I try she gets angry and sad and says that I think she’s fat and a disappointment in many ways. We’ve gone to 3 different counselors of these two years, but she never made much progress. What can I do?

I’m supposed to move back!! I live in Missouri City/Sugar Land areas

I wish I knew where they were, I know nothing about Texas other then they have great bbq.

Before I had ever visited Houston, someone here told me “it’s like Newark but with 100% humidity” lol. They obviously didn’t like Houston too well. I’m in the Dallas area, and it’s not bad. The cost of living sure beats the hell out of Jersey!

Are fellow Texans the only people capable of understanding you?:)

I'm assuming DFW stands for Dallas-Fort Worth.

No lol, but I was looking for local people to maybe hang out with, work out, etc.

Are you on an antacid? I’ve read that acid mimics hunger feelings. I was on a prescription one for first 30 days, now dr has me taking Zantac 150 two times a day for at least another month.

I have not had any issues with acid reflux or heartburn so no, I stopped taking them after weeks 2. But you know what, thanks for the suggestion. I will try using them again to see if that helps. Thanks for suggesting it

Yes I didn’t “feel” any reflux but my doctor says taking it also helps with healing. I bought the Walmart version of Zantac and they were not too expensive.

I was sleeved May 10th and lost 30 lbs so far. I struggle getting the Protein in. Got 60g in only ones so far and about 600 calories about twice. When I try to eat more, I can’t drink enough. How do you guys manage to get in the food/protein and the fluids of 64 oz? I would love to exercise but my surgeon said that I should have a calorie intake of a minimum of 800.
I feel like I’m an oddball. I have no issues eating or drinking, since about week 2. I’ve even had small bites of steak with no issues at week 3. I sometimes feel like maybe my surgeon didn’t even do the sleeve

  • I had sleeve on 5/29. The first few weeks I felt great and had lots of energy. I started soft foods a week ago and I’m feeling more sluggish and tired. I know my body is adjusting but it’s frustrating. I’ve also only lost 16 pounds in 4 weeks, I thought I would have lost more. I was 233 day of surgery (5’4”, 46 years old female). How many calories are you taking in during soft food stage?
